NFT: Popular TV Shows that you hate

Sonic Youth : 8/27/2015 10:43 am
Last night I was sitting down for my ritualistic post work Seinfeld episode. After the episode was over, TBS transitioned into a Big Bang Theory marathon.

A couple times a year I unfortunately find myself this show on my TV and cannot, for the life of me, figure out why it's so damn popular. It's not funny, it's not clever, and it's not original. But for some reason, it's one of the top rated shows on TV. The whole show feels like it takes the humor from the Flo from Progressive commercials and parlays it into a lame TV show.

What shows are popular that you hated?

or vampires and unfortunately, that extends to "The Walking Dead". Technically, I don't hate it - I've never tried watching it, but feel I'm missing out.

Charlie Sheen, no Charlie Sheen - it was painfully hacky and unfunny to me.

said. and I agree with the sentiment. The genre of zombies just never interested me, so Walking Dead might be excellent. I just never watched it.

I might give it a shot on Netflix if I get bored or have surgery again (broke my foot in January) and have to sit in bed for weeks.

Another one is Mad Men. And I watched it for three seasons, and there was some very good scenes and moments, but in the end it just got so repetitive and mundane it felt like work catching up on DVR each week for the next episode. finally I said F-it, I'm done and I don't miss it.

I get the reservations. I really do.

But you gotta give it a shot. Give it the 1st season (only 6 episodes).

I sort of agree. I wouldn't say I hate(d) Seinfeld, but I never loved it. I think because I never loved Seinfeld's standup, I never loved the show. I didn't hate it, but I could live with or without it. Plus, I found Seinfeld the least funny person on the show.

Reality tv in general. Its just so stupid.
Giants Fan in Steelers Land : 8/27/2015 11:02 am : link
For those who haven't watched the walking dead season 1 was really good. Worth watching those 6 eps as a miniseries then stopping.

Its inconsistent since (I think Frank Darabont left after season 1) but being able to watch episodes without waiting a week in between would eliminate the biggest complaint around pacing and moving too slowly at points.

I wouldnt put it on my you must watch this show list (Wire, MM, BB) but its quality entertainment.

Are these shows that you watched somewhat and later hated in hindsight? Or just shows you tried to get into but couldn't ever get into? Or both?
All those faux reality shows,
Popeye : 8/27/2015 11:04 am : link
which pretty much means ALL reality shows.

Also, CSI and all its iterations.

Pretty much anything on the Big Three networks. They all reek of formula-ization.
NCIS and CSI
slov72 : 8/27/2015 11:05 am : link
I cannot understand how they are all routinely the most watched network TV... talk about repetitive, it is the same damn thing every week!
In the end
pjcas18 : 8/27/2015 11:10 am : link
I'm guessing every single show except Breaking Bad will be on here.

but anyway I was clear about the shows I mentioned:

Walking Dead, never watched, not interested in the genre, so hate might be a little strong

Mad Men: watched until it sucked

One of the best pilots in history. The rest of the show is not without criticism - but at times was the best show on TV

Bama - I started watching this when it first aired because my wife wanted to see it, along with New Girl and Mindy Project. I found all mildly entertaining for a few episodes. By the end of the first season all 3 had run out of ideas and sucked, but they are all back for their 3rd or 4th seasons. No explanation.

But, especially hate anything with the Kardashians, or "Real" housewives. I also especially hate any reality show that allows stupid, idiotic, moronic, criminal, etc. people become rich off their own stupidity, illegal activity, etc.
How does anyone put the Wire on this list

Yeah Lost was only good when they had you guessing until each viewer reached that (even the ones that didn't like to admit) inevitable corner where you become fully aware that the writers had no clue what they were talking about and it was a pile of shit saga that they just made up as they went along. The show did start strong though, but 5 years later, I still won't admit out in public that I watched that show. Way too embarrassed.
