Is the Cadilac of electric razors. But it's very pricy.

If I was buying one now, I would get either one of the cheaper Brauns or a Panasonic Wet/Dry.

I've always had good luck with Braun, they last a good while

no use for taking the time involved with a blade setup for me.
I had a Series 7

but it was back when I worked for Merrill Lynch, Series 63 too
i dont shave every day
mattlawson : 8/27/2015 2:37 pm : link
and i dont go for the absolute closest shave imaginable either, but that could be because of the tools I own...
I've got

a heavy, coarse and fast growing beard. I shave in the morning with a blade and if I have an evening appointment, a quick shave with an electric works out just right.

I've tried them all over the years and I prefer the rotary head shavers over the foil shavers.

I don't think I've used a foil shaver that could compete with the rotary heads.

I actually found

Braun Series 5 better than 7. As well, the Series 5 has improved over the years

I thought so too and was a Norelco/Philips rotary user for many many years but the Braun foil was way way better for me.

Also common wisdom says don't switch between electric and blade -- don't know if that is true.

Nothing is as close as a blade but the Braun 5 is pretty close at a fraction of the time and bother.
I use an electric as a supplement

As the shower is warming up, I quickly over the trouble spots -- chin an mustache mainly -- to mow down the heavy stuff. Makes it easier for my post shower blade shave.

And then I also use it when I want to get a shave in between showers.
Always liked the Norelco

Have an ancient one that still does a nice job.
I was a blade

guy until about 2 years ago when I decided to try a Panasonic wet/dry. I shave with cream most of the time and it works great. Also has a nice trimmer for the goatee.

I got it with the charger/cleaner base which worked fine until the razor stopped holding a charge after about 18 months. Sent it all back to Panasonic and they replaced it all under full warranty.
