..was the only and best chance for this young man to get his life and career straightened out. It wasn't going to happen with the Giants. Sucks for us but I'm hoping he can keep it together.
over any safety on our roster not named Collins right now.
The anti weed shit is a joke. It's legal in 2 states that NFL teams play in now. Time to let go. It isn't performance enhancing in any way, it also isn't harmful in any way unless someone smoked before or during a game.
The drug policy should be focused on performance enhancing and truly damaging drugs. Pot just isn't either.
I understand he should have grown the hell up and just waited to get high after his playing days were done but it makes me sick to think that something so harmless cost us a solid starter.

It was MUCH more than pot that got him off the roster...
still do not understand why Hill was released...if it was just pot he may still be on the roster, if it was just about talent and how he fit with this team he would still be on this roster...
He said it himself he needed to get out of Jersey if he was going to keep playing football...

exactly. he had to get away from the old neighborhood. too much temptation.
about why he is still not a Giant, it seems to be another feather in the Giants cap of helping a guy straighten his life out, by cutting him in this case. And a nod to Baltimore for giving him a chance away from his homies in NJ.
Hopefully he's matured, as I would think the contract extension would indicate, and just does what he does.
Too bad he used up all his options here.
one for Adderal and one for pot and as to the pot suspension, it appears the league believed, as Hill claimed, that it was second hand smoke because they suspended him for 6 games when their policy was 8. The fact the Ravens now sign him one year before they have to, indicates they have no character concerns about him. But don't let facts get in the way of your ridiculous arguments that we "saved" him by cutting him and it was in the best interest of the team to cut him. The best interests of the team would have him starting against Dallas.

He was told what would happen if he got one more suspension..He did and they followed up on their promise...It's why we are one of the better franchises to emulate..AND, we have 2 SB in the last 7 years to boot..
I am 100% for their decision, even if he becomes an All-Pro
yes that's tgge trust in talking about. I'm not talking about health I'm talking about showing up to meetings, staying out of trouble and being a reliable teammate. You know that's what I'm talking about though..
Hill had two suspensions

It wasn't about pot, Adderol or suspensions. It was about repeatedly lying and the threat of losing a guy for a year or more to suspension, which is likely since he hasn't gone 18 months since coming into the league without getting in trouble.

You left out trust that they can actually compete at the NFL level
Getting out of Jersey to go to Baltimore is kind of funny
He would be kicked out of the league by now. Giants did him a favor by cutting him. I truly hope he finds success with Baltimore. He needs to stay the hell away from Jersey and his old crew. Real friends would have his back instead of riding it.

Cooper would be cut if that was the case. I'm going to take the Giants opinion over yours, sorry man.
And you haven't afdressed the issue here which is his multiple infractions, being a poor teammate, and admitting NY isn't a good environment from him. Is any of that refutable?
Comparing him to Cooper is pointless. Insert any player and it's the same argument. Keeping dodging the real issue though, you've been great at it.

But as we all know, the Ravens have different standards for "character concerns".
looking at a possible fourth consecutive year out of the playoffs, with their jobs on the line and a complete absence of talent at safety.
I wonder if they are having second thoughts about not re-signing Antrel Rolle? Nobody wants to overpay a player past his prime, but if you have no one to replace him, and you're in a make or break year, sometimes you have to.
organiztion. We would have done the same thing this year, IMO. Greedy fans just don't understand and/or appreciate this team. They will take 2 Superbowls but won't take the lumps during down seasons. Getting rid of Hill was the right move and will always be the right move.
Having too much patience with the front office, which many called not patience but lethargy, was one of the main causes for the 17 consecutive seasons of not making post-season.
The only thing dumber than suspending a player for weed is
weed being legalized in several states is irrelevant. It's illegal in the NFL and he's a repeat offender. He's on a final strike so to speak.
Then there's the trust factor that people seem to think doesn't matter.
He wasn't the first moron let go for being untrustworthy and he won't be the last.
So case closed? We can't discuss the merits of it being illegal in the NFL or at least the harshness of the consequences? It's a message board for God's sake.
Or two years in the pro bowl. We'll see.
Who's also a blunt away from being out of the league.
yep

Every fucking year with this myth.

He was released because he lied to us...trust issues
At this point, I'd take him back in a heartbeat

Understood, but he was making close to the league min. It's not like his cap hit was preventing us from going after other players.
I understand what the Giants did, just don't agree with it and said so at the time.

How much do you trust Cooper Taylor?
It's somewhere in between.
