We've had a thread on how many movies people watch per year and how many books people read per year. Since it'll be hard to say how many hours/days a person workout per year, let's make it a week. Then we can all brag about how much we workout and shit.
So I workout on average five hours per week with maybe 45 min to 1 hour per session. But I also eat like I'm 20...so I think I'm pretty much on a losing battle...:(
So I'm guessing about 4-5 hours a week. Not near as much as I should!
another 4 or 5 playing basketball..
Committing to 1 rest day a week, or 2 when necessary, can be tough but vital as I've gotten older
workouts are either 1.5 hours of lifting and cardio at gym or a half hour run followed by some circuit stuff
Hit a 295 # Front Squat PR @170 lbs Tuesday, was pretty pumped on that.
You guys probably wouldn't understand that.
You guys probably wouldn't understand that.
And you drink! Don't forget the drinking.
My problem is, I am always exhausted. Always tired. Always sore.
I've had my share of back/shoulder problems so they usually flare up and keep me out of the gym.
Just turned 30 this year.
Anyone in the same boat?
So.. around 4 hours or so.
I don't think any more than that is really necessary. I'm surprised seeing some of you guys say 2x that. Seems like a lot.
Sack up, Nancy. It gets better. :)

Depends on your goals and what you do when you are at the gym.
Unless you're looking to become a bodybuilder, I don't think working out for 2 hours a day is really necessary.
Results have just as much to do with what you do outside of the gym as what you do while you're there.
And I'm with arc...it's all about efficiency these days, especially at 35 with two kids (four year old and ten month old). Don't get me wrong, if I had the time like when I was either single or when I was deployed, I would be working out 2+ hours a day, six days a week. But that ain't happening.
I'm 200 lbs dead even--about 6'4. That's historic for me.
Having a kid definitely changed me lol...I never sit around anymore...sometimes I miss it but I am far better off!
To be fair a lot of the time I spend just futzing around before I actually get to working out.
Wow...you stayed away all this time to come back for that one liner? Sort of anticlimactic, to be honest.

Great goal...but that bench number is a bit low...even for not benching too often. Nice deadlifts though...at 5'11" and 170, I couldn't break that 400lb deadlift mark...385lb was my max but I've had a history of sciatica, so I had to really watch myself when deadlifting.
I lift at home. I try to walk like 2, 3 miles a day.
Core everyday...about 10 minutes
workout with one of my sons about 2 days a week, 1 hour each.
That's about 8 hours a week....
I'm all about promoting population control anyway I can. So you're welcome.
But that's gotta change (when it comes to working out, that is, not reading books).
I'm sure that football and hockey seasons, and all the brewskis that come with them, will get my fat ass right back into the 200s right quick

Probably better than burning them in their huts?
I would be dead if I did that
I would be dead if I did that
I was like damn! Haha
Cardio fast pace walking and swimming
4-7 hours of JiuJitsu and 3-4 hours in the gym.
The issue is that too many people think going to the gym is exercising. Not always. Especially the big muscle bound guys who can do 5 pull ups.
Unfortunately, since July 11th I have had pneumonia and I sprained my ankle so I haven't been able to come close to those recently due to either a lack of lung capacity (which has finally cleared up) or an inability to even perform the movements (Squat and Bench since early August).
Soon though, just deadlifted for the first time today since late July and it went ok. Hopefully I can up the volume again soon.
My lifting is completed in about 35 minutes for each session. I superset everything in a "push/pull" manner, never stopping during the entire workout.(makes them aerobic workouts as well as resistance)
I ride my bike either two or three days per week between an hour and fifteen minutes and two and a half hours per ride. Those rides are probably 40% aerobic and 30% lactate threshold.
I've lost 40 pounds doing that, including watching what I eat, in about 5 months at 56 years old
Today's workout was basically five rounds of 115lb clean and press (10 reps) immediately followed by 120 yards of farmers walk/run (55lb and 45lb kettlebells) and burpees (10 reps). Then abs. It was quick and painful...and way south of an hour.
