NFT: How many hours do you workout per week?

RC02XX : 8/27/2015 3:14 pm
We've had a thread on how many movies people watch per year and how many books people read per year. Since it'll be hard to say how many hours/days a person workout per year, let's make it a week. Then we can all brag about how much we workout and shit.

So I workout on average five hours per week with maybe 45 min to 1 hour per session. But I also eat like I'm 20...so I think I'm pretty much on a losing battle...:(

I'm all about promoting population control anyway I can. So you're welcome.

Probably better than burning them in their huts?

Retired now but when I was still working I ranged from never working less than about 55 hours or more than about 70 hours per week. Usually most often was probably about 60 hours per week.
LOL

In a week. I'm 49. But everyone needs to find exercise that makes sense for them.

4-7 hours of JiuJitsu and 3-4 hours in the gym.

The issue is that too many people think going to the gym is exercising. Not always. Especially the big muscle bound guys who can do 5 pull ups.

Optimally

Optimally, I train for powerlifting 2 hours or so 4 days a week and do conditioning work for another 20-30 minutes 3 days a week, taking Saturday off so around 9-10 hours/week. I'm currently trying to get to a 365 squat, 315 bench and 500 DL (current numbers 335 Squat, 295 bench and 445 DL).

Unfortunately, since July 11th I have had pneumonia and I sprained my ankle so I haven't been able to come close to those recently due to either a lack of lung capacity (which has finally cleared up) or an inability to even perform the movements (Squat and Bench since early August).

Soon though, just deadlifted for the first time today since late July and it went ok. Hopefully I can up the volume again soon.
By come close to those

I mean come close to those workout times, obviously not hitting those numbers.
Lifting and Cycling

I lift 4 times per week, splitting my body into a chest/shoulders/triceps/abs 2 time per week and upper back/lower back/legs/biceps/abs 2 times per week.

My lifting is completed in about 35 minutes for each session. I superset everything in a "push/pull" manner, never stopping during the entire workout.(makes them aerobic workouts as well as resistance)

I ride my bike either two or three days per week between an hour and fifteen minutes and two and a half hours per ride. Those rides are probably 40% aerobic and 30% lactate threshold.

I've lost 40 pounds doing that, including watching what I eat, in about 5 months at 56 years old
I'm all for achieving goals as many of you have stated...

and there are some very impressive numbers. However, in the past few years, I came to the realization that there is no appeal to spending more than an hour working out for me. And I couldn't imagine being at the gym for more than an hour these days (I haven't been to an actual gym in probably three years or so). I'm all about fast hitting workouts these days. Even my heavy days are fairly quick. And if it wasn't for having to be in good cardio shape for my PFT and CFT, I wouldn't be running as much as I do now.

Today's workout was basically five rounds of 115lb clean and press (10 reps) immediately followed by 120 yards of farmers walk/run (55lb and 45lb kettlebells) and burpees (10 reps). Then abs. It was quick and painful...and way south of an hour.
