The true indication is always the batters reflex and in this case he didn't come up hopping rather DW took off immediately after contact.
Not necessarily. If it just nicked his cleat than the player may not even feel it much. I thought I saw it change direction on the replays. It wouldn't take much to do that. Either way, the result was good.

Your eyes are probably much better than mine but I thought that centerfield camera shot showed it to be pretty clear.
He had a rough patch earlier in the year but he's quietly been pretty solid for a while. He was getting paired with Alex and was unfairly labeled a disaster.
He will not be here next year. I don't see him being happy as a reserve and he certainly will not want to be paid as one. Third is Wright. First is Duda. And second is either Herrera or Flores next year IMO. Someone will pay him to play 2B and or DH
You're probably right because the Mets will likely look to save some money here. But IMO he is better than Flores or Herrea and with Wright's back issues a great insurance to have on the roster.

They can't assume wright will be an everyday player. Murphy would get plenty of playing time.
But yeah, someone will pay him to play 2nd or DH most likely

I think they'll pay him to play third. He's better defensively there.

No chance Murphy gets his money as a DH. His value is at 2b or 3b. DH's don't hold a ton of value if you aren't a David Ortiz type.
AAA-
Stauffer with a gem 8.1 innings 4 hits 0 runs 0 walks 5 k's (a potential 9/1 callup)
Alvarez .1 perfect
Herrera 1-4
Kirk 1-3 HR
Nimmo did not play (gotta be hurt, Wally would bench him for 3 straight?)
AA
Goeddel 1.1 innings 3 hits 2 runs 1 walk 1 k (meh, woulda been nice to see a good outing)
Smoker 0.1 1 walk 1 k
Sewald 1 perfect 2 k's (fantastic season)
Rivera 2-4
A+
Smith 2-5 HR (had been slumping previously
Rosario 0-5, 3 k's
McNeil 2-5, 2b
Calling balls strikes, calling strikes ball.
This guy is f'n awful. You fall behind 3-0 to a relief pitcher not even looking to swing, you deserve to lose.

He has been equally bad for both teams. That being said I think he gets a huge playoff game because he is one of the least reversed umps

He's awful, but then again so is the majority of their pen. Outside Gomez, Garcia, and Giles.... they have no one who is worth being on the roster.
This Defratus guy may be worse. Thank god he only needs 1 run.

2+ innings, part of an amazing play, infield hit and scored the go ahead run!
Bravo, sir...
He has mentioned in the past he would likely give the Mets a home town discount so you never know.
Short turn around, get your rest boys.
Yep, and kept him from running up on Torres and possibly spiking him.

But not at 5/60, which is what he might get from some other team. So he is probably gone.
