With all the doom and gloom that is going on here with injuries, talent pool, struggling offense in the preseason, JPP, struggling DL, etc...
What would make you stand back and say, hey we arent that bad?
- Competing against Dallas? Beating them?
- starting off 4-2?
- Beating Philly?
- DLine getting pressure early?
- Offense putting up points early?
I think a big thing is the first game. I am not saying they necessarily have to beat Dallas, but if they offense puts up some points, and the defense can at least get to Romo and sack him - I think it would be a huge stepping stone for them. There are going to be times when the defense looks awful. There will be times when the OLine wont get any push to run the ball or give up some sacks. We all know Eli is going to have some WTF throws.
We have pieces. We have elite QB/WR tandem. I think we have some young guys that have the potential to be very good. SO what is your opinion?
I still think they're a bit away from returning to championship contention, though. A good offensive line and average defense would make me think differently.
great improvement in DL
Beat Dallas and Philadelphia
Start no worse than 4-2
... and I will believe they can make a good run at the playoffs. Otherwise, I think 6-10.
You're technically tight, but after what has transpired the last two years. a 4-1. or 5-2 start would be a treat to see.
The offense will be good. That is about it.
A 4-2 start
Scoring 24+ points per game
Giving up less than 24 points per game
Improved blocking
More consistent pass rush
Even if they go 8-8, those are improvements I'd like to see and be happy with.
Just a shot to beat the Redskins? Man, I didnt think we were that bad.
Or picking up more than one yard on the ground on 3rd and 2 :)
Quote:
A four train collision carrying the Eagles, Cowboys, Seahawks and Packers in which no one dies but all players go on IR. Then we have a shot at the division and the playoffs.

Even better than 2 in 5 years.
Since when did one player make the team?
Defense preventing the 10-15 yard pass plays over the middle consistently: we can't let teams move the chains at will.
If we're 5-5 at the bye, I'll feel really good.
How can you not be hopeful with JUST Eli, ODJ, Spags, TC?
What will add to the crap we have swallow is that both Dallas and Philly look good. I will take some satisfaction if we can split the games with one or dare I say both of them. God I hope I'm wrong and this team can surprise like they did in '07 and '11.
The defense is a disaster in the making.
A good free safety.
A good pass rush.
And that's just for the 2015 season. We need to have excellent drafts in 2016, 2017, and 2018 too - by which I mean finding four or even five quality starters in each batch.
Green Bay currently has the best approach to continuity out there: draft wisely, retain your good players, replace them with home grown talent, and don't waste your money on high priced free agents past their prime. We're three years away from being able to do that.
Come on Joey - everyone knows we do worse against the subs than we against the first team
And even then we have crapped the bed in the 2nd half of the season in the past.
I have a good feeling about this line, but am very skeptical Schwartz can stay healthy. We have been a shitty running team for a few yard now. Flowers and Schwartz are going to be key guys in being able to establish dominance up front again. The offense is going to be really good if the line can hold its end of the bargain.

Unfortunately you can replace "Schwartz" in that sentence with just about everybody on this team other than Eli.
