NFT: Does Apple's 1 year warranty cover cracked screens

Mike in Long Beach : 8/27/2015 11:00 pm
Getting mixed reviews from my Googles.

Cracked my screen tonight. Is this something that's covered in the warranty? I purchased the phone less than a year ago.

Thank you in advance.
Not sure but

if you cracked it I'm guessing no unless you bought one of those extended warranties that cover things even if you damaged it.
No

unless you got accidental coverage/insurance. standard warranty does not include cracked screens.

Just a thought

Some credit cards have extended warranties for their customers on items purchased with their card. You may want to look into that just in case your card does this.
no.

Steve, the extended warranties would only extend the manufacture warranty by one year, and the manufacture warranty does not cover cracked screen.

Only way he'd be covered is if he's within 120 days of purchase, where some credit cards have coverage for the first 120 days after purchase for accidental damage and theft
Under the standard 1 year Applecare warranty, No.

If you paid to upgrade to Applecare Plus, it extends you to two years and adds accidental damage coverage including cracked screens.

The warranty through Apple is just technical issues... Not physical damage...

Set an appointment at the genius bar though... I brought my iPod touch up there a few years ago... They told me it would be $180 to replace the screen or $200 to replace the entire device if it couldn't be fixed...

10 minutes later the guy came out and gave me a new iPod touch at no charge...

They like to under promise, over achieve...

That's not going to happen today -- Apple doesn't do freebie screen fixes anymore.

The price is less though: should be between $109 and $129 depending on model. If you do it, make sure you do a full backup of your phone before you hand it over.

I didn't realize it's that cheap to fix the screen nows.

Almost feel like an idiot for buying squaretrade insurance at 100 + 50 bucks deductible knowing that.

What does it cost to have them fix internal issues generally now?

Varies by model. $299 for an iphone 6.

my girlfriend spilled water all over her keyboard. The whole comp bascially fried. For a flat rate of either 200 or 300 they fix the entire computer. The only catch is there is no warranty. Your computer can last a month or a year but when its finished that is it. So far, her computer has lasted 7 months. I think it was well worth it.
