column on Al and his Islanders..Had to come over "here" to post my condolences..

Hated the Islanders as I was horn and raises a Rangers' fan..My son was a diehard Islander fan..Hayted the fact that he had 4 cups to my Zip(until that glorious '94)..That all said, he was one of the greatest coaches that ever lived on one of the greatest hockey teams that ever played..

Little did we know what names these two AHL defense men would make for themselves later in life!

Arbour was a class act and he knew how to coach. He got the most out of his players and they loved playing for him. He made my childhood one filled with winning and making my friends who were Ranger fans miserable. Rest in Peace.

I was real young when he was at the helm but my first memories of the Isles were watching his teams with my dad. It's when I became a fan.

The coach behind one of the greatest sports dynasties of all time, and from all accounts a wonderful human being.
