Still brining it strong. Damn that aircraft takes a licking and keeps on ticking. They have been trying to mothball the A10 for years, yet still one of the best fixed wing aircraft ever made.

Actually...the Pentagon has planned to do evaluation test for both the A-10 and F-35 to see which aircraft is better for CAS.
Going to be interesting.

But now, after months of debate over which aircraft is better suited for CAS, the Pentagon’s chief weapons tester confirmed on Thursday that his office plans to pit the A-10 against the F-35 in a series of comparison evaluations starting in 2018.
The testing “will reveal how well the F-35 performs and whether there are gaps or improvements in capabilities compared to the A-10,” J. Michael Gilmore, the director of the Pentagon’s Operational Test and Evaluation Office, said in an interview with reporters at the Pentagon.
I am well aware of the competiton and some are saying the CAS test flights and evaluations are just another way to show all the deficiencies in the F35 and how LMCO and all of their overpriced contractors are continuing to drop the ball when a 35+ year old aircraft continue to outperform the trillion dollar baby. Before you know it, LMCO will be at the drawing board again developing yet another variant.
Stick with what works, although the Raptor had its issues to, there was no need to scrap that program.

Yeah...honestly, as a ground pounder, I couldn't care less what kind of an aircraft they use as long as it's good at what it's supposed to do when providing CAS. Having stated that, majority of my Marine aviator friends are pretty stoked with the F-35 (especially the Harrier pilots).
I am pumped too for the F-35, but It just seems like LMCO is continuing to put the focus in the wrong areas (hence the delay after delay after delay).
Well when it ever does get put into full scale production, it will certainly be good for business! I am on the PE side, so the longer they delay, the further out our contracts go!

F-35 vs AV8B - supersonic vs just barely faster than a P-51 (ok I exaggerated).
For the Marines and close air support and V/STOL the F-35 works. Not so sure the F-35 is that much better than the F-16, F/A-18 or the venerable (and still undefeated) F-15.
writes too well to be brownstowne...who, pray tell, is this shit stirrer?
Some strange Chinaman from what I've heard.
Don't confuse me - you said he was Vietnamse or a moron on the other thread. I havae to get my insults and bigotry correct. I don't want to be banned for incorrect name calling.

Honestly, does it matter at this point? Asians all sort of look alike, no?
I can't be racist since I'm Asian too

North Korea is a hermit kingdom led by a psychotic personality cult. Not a country.
Sounds like we've found the perfect place to relocate Scientology HQ.
Don't you mean the Westboro Baptist Church?
both Scientologists and WBC followers would end up in labor camps. the only religion in the PRNK is devotion to the Kims. there is only room for one personality cult in that peninsula!
Patrick White from Popehat announced today that he will no longer post to his hilarious DPRK News Service twitter account. It was incredible how many suckers believed it was a real NK news agency.
The great leader is rolling in his grave, you ingrate!
actually it's LMFAO
perhaps the craziest thing I've heard about north korea is that you can end up in jail or a labor camp for a good chunk of your life if you don't show sufficient sadness during public memorials - that you are mandated to attend - for the Kims. they have sadness police enforcing the laws that you must sob. not sure if there is a tear or frown threshold that needs to be met to "pass".
"We can wait in these state of the art slit trenches while those fools expend all their ammunition. Then we attack."

I think those are wartime rations for the NK army...blocks and blocks of dried squid.

That from Hillary's emails?

Really? Now you're going to be NK's champion? Talk about total lack of awareness and perspective.

The accuracy and potency of our conventional weapons systems is intimidating. The NK nutjobs are as good an audience as any to flex at.
