were truly unavailable then who else was left? And if they were available they should have been used first.
It just sucks. We have 4 studs in our pen and Clippard/Familia is easily the best setup man/closer combination of any of the teams in the league going to the playoffs. Verrett had been good but is still green and Torres is fine as your last man in the/mop up guy. We really need to get these guys rested and just fine tweak the pen a little. Dario Alvarez over EOF is beyond obvious. We have some guy like Goedell and Black that may challenge C. Torres for his spot as well. And of course we are still moving a very good starter there eventually. The pen is going to be fine. Tonight it was just burnt to a crisp.

He basically just said those guys weren't available. We really didn't have much of a choice. The roster expansion is coming at a much needed time.

I'm not arguing that the BP wasn't thin, but you can't tell me that nobody was available. If that's the case then it was just poor BP management by TC in an extra inning game. But seriously, it's one game. We need to win tomorrow.
I hated seeing the Red Sox on the schedule when I looked a month ago. I hate interleague play. It's run its course.
really weren't available. Makes more sense now. I then might question pulling Harvey who was begging to go back in the 7th. I get shaving an inning but if you know you are working with that short of a bullpen you have to let him pitch the 7th. You can't cut corners EVERYWHERE.
Yep, and it looks even worse when the go ahead run was scored on an inside the park HR hit to centerfield that maybe could have been limited to a double if the LFer actually moved to assist on the play.
to a degree sticking it to the Nats and their fans.If the Mets won and the Nats won, " what are you going to do?" BUT the Mets lose and the Nats don't capitalize, that hurts. Magic number down to 29. Let's Go Mets!
RE: RE: You lose a game where the other team gives up 12 walks

My sons, almost age 11, have now been sucked into the Mets' resurgence enough to now want jerseys. If this was 3 years ago, I'd still have gone with DW for at least one. Thinking about longevity (knowing that's a moving target), who would you go with for 2 kids? I'm thinking de Grom for sure for one. What say you?

Conforto or Syndergaard. But honestly, they would probably want Harvey and DeGrom
deGrom is pretty much a must based on the criteria.
I'd normally have said Harvey is a no-brained, but given Boras as his agent and the known fact he grew up a Yankees fan, I have that nagging feeling that if he doesn't win a title with the Mets during his current contract, he's a sure thing to bolt when he hits FA.
He's the 2nd most valuable Met in franchise history after Seaver. Even if his career ended early, he's going to have had played all of it here regardless. And I think he'll be around a bit longer anyway.
If I were getting a Jersey I think I'd go Conforto
or maybe Matz. Harvey, JdG and Wright have to be the top 3 most common by a pretty healthy margin. Conforto and Matz should be slightly more unique. I would not get a Carlos Torres.
Jay Bruce for Wheeler. Bruce was hiring .257 at the time and is now hitting .229. You have to slump big time to drop 30 points off your batting average
this late into the season. Phew!

You may have read that Wright is sore. He is. It's normal and absolutely nothing to do with his back. He'll almost certainly play tomorrow.
if terry isnt going to trust robles especially with o flaherty struggling to be kind
I think Terry trusts Robles. The dude played three days in a row and two innings on his last day. The pen was just taxed and certain players weren't available last night. Some still aren't as Colon might be coming out of the pen tonight!
MVP Grandy is up
That's my only complaint. I'm sure the BP was thin, but it was obvious that Torres wasn't fooling anyone. Poor job keeping him out there.

But you can always quibble with stuff after a tough loss
Mets just couldn't get the hits with Risp tonight

And of course.. Wilmer!
this late into the season. Phew!
Of course, that's also because the Mets have buzz now, so a lot of the people in the stadium are not diehard fans like the people on this thread.

Holy shit.. Ben Sheets. I haven't seen his name in a long time.
