Looks like shifting a little more west. 12/14 inches of rain north of the Caloosahatchee.

More up dates as I get them. Cape look out.

Still unstable track.

got your row boat ready? Looks like a TS not a hurricane at least. I'm on the edge of the "cone" on the east coast.
The National Hurricane Center said that

Tropical Storm Erika is forecast to weaken into a tropical depression.

Cape coral here my son is in the national guard and got a message earlier to have a bag for 3 days packed if they call him in.but I am suspecting that it won't come to that due to the weakening. Figures it had to come this weekend he starts a new job this weekend
it's funny (somewhat)

my fiancee's company moved down from Chicago earlier this year. They had early dismissal today for an expected Monday landfall. They are all freaking out since they've never been near a hurricane.

Hopefully this ends up just heading to the gulf and stays weak. I remember how Wilma swung back and came straight back through Lauderdale/Boca. Praying that's not the case again here on the east coast.

If that thing gets into the Gulf, it likely gets stronger churning away in that warm water.
A little further west,

on the 11PM.
Perfect scenario for me.

Just strong enough to get everyone worried, but weak enough not to blow the house away or to have to pull the boats out. I've been helping a local house rental company close all their houses up. Shutters, storing and securing all the patio funiture etc. Great money. Running around like mad, but 2 days work will more than pay for my trip to see the Giants in New Orleans.

Hopefully it is just a few bands of thunderstorms by the time it reaches us. And hope you guys that have been flooded don't get swamped again. Guess I'll stock up on extra rum tomorrow just incase.

i know that's the tendecy but who knows what happens if it continues over islands. just hoping it weakens and nothing comes back

I can remember that it went from a Cat 2 to a Cat 4 in the blink of an eye and by that time it was too late to go anywhere...very scary, I watched my dock and pool cage come apart and the water just kept getting closer to the house.

These storms are so unpredictable and that is what makes them so dangerous. Once Erika gets into the gulf and churns up the warm water it can strengthen rapidly. That being said, it is not a very well formed storm and will probably bring some heavy rain and moderate winds to SW Florida. ( fingers crossed)
Sometimes slow moving tropical storms can cause...
tony stg : 8/29/2015 10:41 am : link
... as much damage as a CAT1 hurricane, not in wind but in rain and flooding. The remains of Erika can possibly dump several inches of rain on an already saturated Tampa. We had over 14 inches of rain in August and that caused severe flooding in Tampa and surrounding communities. I think there's a potential for significant flooding here (but my house is high enough that I should be fine).

Stay safe everyone.

Final advisory from
ctc in ftmyers : 8/29/2015 11:22 am : link
EOC. Tropical storm Erika has dissipated. EOC is no longer activated.

Expect 3-5" of rain over the next several days. Areas prone to flooding should stay vigilant.

This is for SW Florida only. Lee County specifically. Other areas should monitor their local weather bulletins.

I'll keep this up in case conditions change in the next few days.
As bondage chick would say,
