Wright out due to shoulder stiffness. Expected back tomorrow. Colon available out of the bullpen today. Mets after a reliever.

Positive for the game is Colon looked good!
Yeah I think so too which means there's absolutely no room for somebody like EYJ, or maybe even Conforto too.
Betts, Bradley & Castillo is a very goos defensive outfield. If the Sox bullpen didn't suck as hard as it has all year they would be much more competitive.
Heh, should have figured this win would bring out the random Red Sox fan. Joe Kelly doesn't suck but he's not great. A few good starts against bad teams doesn't make him a good pitcher. Our bats have gone cold. Plain a simple. But, hey, if you want to put that feather in your cap...more power to you.
now, if the Mets make the playoffs and get swept in the first series with Torres and EOF blowing saves, then we can wring our hands.
but in the regular season, all wins count the same because the only significance of the regular season is making it past the regular season
Magic number is 29. Just get it to 0!

Yoenis Cespedes and Travis d'Arnaud should be off Sunday, with David Wright back in lineup.
"This is not Philadelphia. This is not Colorado. This is not Baltimore." -- Terry Collins on the offensive slip returning to Citi Field.
Terry Collins says Yoenis Cespedes needs a day off because of fatigue.
"Today we looked a little tired," Terry Collins said.

Hearing the #Dbacks will receive a pair of Minor Leaguers from #Mets in exchange for Addison Reed.
He had a 5.92 ERA in his first 25 appearances of the season, but has performed better since a monthlong stint at Triple-A Reno. Since returning to the majors, Reed has a 1.65 ERA (3 ER in 16 1/3 IP) with 14 strikeouts, three walks and no homers allowed.
Reed resembles Clippard in that he can capably handle left-handed batters, which is a particular need for the Mets with recently acquired southpaw Eric O'Flaherty struggling and Jerry Blevins having refractured his left forearm. In his last three seasons, Reed has held lefty batters to averages .210, .219 and then .242 this season.

Addison Reed not a big name but for what the Mets need might be just what the doctor ordered. My opinion of him: can set up but can't close
They weren't looking for a closer, Rich
Probably put him on DL. j/k
#Mets put claims in on lots of relievers this week. Reed was their primary target. Don't expect another move between now and Sept. 1.
Turn off whatever you're listening to. ASAP
Can confirm. No word yet on the return. RT @AdamRubinESPN Source: #Mets acquire Addison Reed from #Dbacks pending physical.

#Dbacks Addison Reed to the #Mets deal obviously not finalized yet as Reed just warmed up the left fielder between innings.
Think the bullpen would be pretty close to stacked at that point.
Man Sandy has literally given us everything we could have ever needed and he hasn't stopped adding talent. Literally every piece we've asked for.
Of course but Im talking about who he would replace in the pen immediately. Would we really cut Torres? Its probably Verrett back to AAA.
It was 40 saves, not 50.
From Anthony DiComo / MLB.com, in part ...
Under team control for two more seasons, Reed will cost the Mets more than $800,000 in September. He is arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter, and is a good bet to earn an increase at that time over the $4.875 million he earned this year. The Mets can either pay him, or non-tender him at that time.
For now, they are interested in what Reed can provide down the stretch and into October. [...]
Reed, ultimately, could become a primary weapon for them against left-handed hitters, considering his career reverse platoon splits. Lefties have hit him at a .242 clip this season, compared to .310 for righties. [...]
The Mets claimed "lots of" relievers on waivers this week, according to a source, but are unlikely to complete any additional deals between now and the Sept. 1 waiver Trade Deadline.

#Mets will send minor league right-handers Matt Koch and Miller Diaz to D-backs for Addison Reed, @BNightengale reports.
It was 40 saves, not 50.
Typo, sorry. What's 10 saves here or there?
#Mets will need to make several 40-man roster moves in coming days -- for Addison Reed, Erik Goeddel (60-day DL) and Eric Young Jr.
But you have to like that he has a lot of closing experience. He is not going to get rattled.
He is also under the Mets control for two more seasons.
He will also replace Torres, so that is an upgrade right there.
Diaz and Koch are most likely destined to be middle relievers if they even make it to MLB. So, this is good deal, all things considered.
