So had my draft last night. Best part of the season for me. a bunch of friends have been in this league together for over 10 years (with some changes).
I cooked 30 pounds of wings 8 pounds of meatballs, 2 pounds of bacon, and we drank a ton of beer.
Anyway I have never seen a draft unfold like this. We have one guy who is a pretty intelligent guy try to outsmart himself and he drafted 3 QB's in the first 4 rounds. We can only start one QB at a time. We were all shocked. He drafted Brees in the 2nd round, then Peyton in the third then Tom Brady in the 4th and then to top it off Garropolo in the 17th.
He messed up the sequencing and expectations people had. He also screwed me by taking Beckham in the first at pick 9, which was before he was projected to go.
this is a 12-team ppr league where QB's get 6 pts per TD with bonuses for long TD passes. No mandatory TE. Keeper league - which explains some of my rookie RB drafting
My WR's need some work
Here is my team:
QB: Andrew Luck (2)
RB: CJ Anderson (1)
RB: Carlos Hyde (3)
WR: Julian Edelman (4)
WR: Amari Cooper (6)
Flex: Todd Gurley (5)
Flex: David Johnson (7)
K: Josh Brown (16)
ST: Bills (15)
Bench: John Brown (8)
Bench: Cole Beasley (10)
Bench: Torrey Smith (9)
Bench: Matt Asiata (11)
Bench: Dorial Green Beckham (13)
Bench: Rueben Randle (14)
Bench: Zach Zenner (17)
Bench: Teddy Bridgewater (12)
Yahoo gave it a B and projected me as the league champion. LOL.
Today I have pick #2 in a 10 team, no ppr 4pt per TD pass league. Who do you target at 2? Peterson? I drafted him in this same league last year at #2 and he played one game before his debacle. There is some bitterness there. If Bell doesn't go #1 I'll take him.
My long standing 10 team, .5 PPR draft is tonight.. I'm excited. I have 5th pick and have a pretty good game plan. Just hoping there aren't too many curveballs. I should come away with a solid team.
When I picked Edelman the next few picks were: Emmanuel Sanders (who I considered, but I don't love the Broncos offense this year other than Anderson), Melvin Gordon, Hyde (who I took on the way back in the 4th), Ellington, Latavious Murray, Jonathan Stewart, TJ Yeldon, Amir Abdullah, Jimmy Graham, Andre Johnson.
By the time I took Edelman 13 WR's were already off the board and by the time I took Hyde 14 RB's were already off the board.
slight reaches based on my rankings, but not too bad.
I can't wait to see how it works out.
My other draft is today at 1. and I have the 2nd pick, standard 10-team (no ppr and 4pt per TD for QB's)
Who would you target? Is it AP no-brainer? Jamal Charles?
Ronnie Hillman
I have: randle, blue, Jennings, gray, matt jones
Would you guys replace Hillman with one of those?
TE available: josh Hill, Tyler eifert, Rodney Rodgers
I have: Jordan Cameron, Antonio Gates
Would you replace a TE here?
I need an advantage and to manage my team well because I lost Jordy
I do think the Patriots like Gray a lot and he'll start week 1 while Blount serves his 1-game suspension, but then with NE RB's who knows what to expect.
Matt Jones is a good late round keeper league option, but unless Morris is injured I don't know if anyone knows how many touches he'll get.
Blue and Jennings are the most interesting ones, I think Blue's value is tied to how long Foster is out.
I like Jennings more than Hillman period.
I like your TE's if they stay healthy.
He's an idiot.
He's an idiot.
That's exactly what he said. "people are going to be begging me for a QB", but he's going to have trouble fielding a team until or if that happens.
His starting RB's week 1 project to be: Rashad Jennings and Zack Stacy
his starting WR's are good (potentially): Beckham and Sammy Watkins, but his flex spots are Stevie Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald right now. And he doesn't have much depth.
He also took his D/ST round 11 (HOU),at least 3 rounds before the next D (other than Seattle who was also picked way too early for this league) was taken.
I can't wait to see how it works out.

The QB thing is bizarre. My guess is that he thought if he could create a shortage in QB supply on his own, there would be more reaches for later rd. QB's in middle rounds and he'd try cleaning up on the pieces left behind as a result. Or maybe he thought by monopolizing a chunk of the quality talent at the position, he'd be able to use them as trade chips for RB's or WR's.
Some people go with a straight up value based strategy but usually shift towards need a few rounds in.. and I don't think those QB's even presented the best value on the board at the times he picked them, either. Very strange.
Anyway.. in non-PPR, I would take AP. Not necessarily a "no brainer" but I do think he's in for a pretty big year. A league structured that way is one where you really want that workhorse RB and AP is still one of the few left.
QB - Stafford, Dalton
RB - Jeremy Hill, Carlos Hyde, Arian Foster, Chris Ivory, Knile Davis
WR - Odell, Golden Tate, Roddy White, Rueben Randle, Kenny Britt & Kenny Stills
TE - Martellus, Kyle Rudolph
D/ST - Bills
K - Matt Bryant
I had the same exact spot 11th, but my league is ppr and 6pts per passing TD.
I'm really hoping Foster is back by week 4 which is being reported. He had 236 points while missing 4 games last year.
so this was basically a fancy way to post a "rate my fantasy team" thread.
SMH @ PJ
but yeah, what do you think of my team?
It was more to brag about the fact I cooked 30 pounds of chicken wings and 8 pounds of meatballs and 2 pounds of bacon.
QB - Newton, Kaepernick
WR - A. Brown, D. Thomas, Tate, Wheaton, Marvin Jones
RB - L. Murray, Gordon, Yeldon, Andre Williams, David Johnson
TE - Cameron, Davis
DEF - Miami
RB - J. Hill (2)
RB - T. Mason (14)
WR - A. Brown (1)
WR - M. Evans (3)
WR - A. Cooper (4)
TE - Fleener (8)
RB/WR/TE - Cruz (7)
K - Tucker (16)
DEF - Buffalo (12)
BE - Blount (5)
BE - D. Johnson (9)
BE - M. Wheaton (10)
BE - C. Sims (11)
BE - Ebron (13)
BE - A. Hurns (15)
BE - D. Carr (17)
BE - T. Austin (18)
Yahoo ranked it a B and finishing second in my league... wifi was spotty where we had the draft so it drafted my kicker way ahead of where I wanted... was planning on getting Brandon Coleman there. Some of my guys are very boom or bust. Worried about RB and TE a little. I've been considering dropping Ebron for Ladarious Green or Scott Chandler. My RB situation depends a lot on injuries. Doug Martin is injury prone, Gurley is a question mark now but should be starting at least to start the season when Blount is out and Duke Johnson has looked good so far this preseason. We'll see... I'm hoping Mike Evans doesn't have a big sophomore slump and Amari Cooper keeps up his chemistry with Carr.
I like Murray, but just saying as a RB1 he's risky and then a rookie at RB2.
I think it will work out, but that's the position I'd be looking at for the waiver wire.
I had the same dilemma. I had to pick RB with my second pick though or else there would have been on one left in the 3rd.

this was to Uconn, I'll look at yours now jg
I passed up Calvin Johnson, Randall Cobb, Demaryius Thomas to take CJ Anderson at 11.
No, I thought about clarifying once I saw UConn post his team, that's Duke. I think he eventually starts there. I only have Mason in there until Blount comes back in week 2. Who knows when they put Gurley in there.
RB- Jeremy Hill, Gore, Ivory, McFadden, Hillman
WR- OBJ, Hopkins, B. Marshall, Fitz, Boldin, Marvin Jones
TE- Jordan Cameron
D- Bengals
Thoughts?
They literally didn't give him the ball in the red zone. I watched the Jags game & they were inside the 10 on 3 occasions he touched the ball 1 time. Once he started getting red zone touches he went off.
it keeps your rankings.
QB - Brady
RB - Peterson
RB - Ivory
WR - Cobb
WR - Jeffery
TE - Olsen
FL - Cooper
DEF - Jets
K - Sturgis
BE - Blount
BE - Sankey
BE - Davante Parker
BE - Sam Bradford
BE - Fred Jackson
BE - David Johnson
BE - Antonio Gates
Olsen has a week 5 bye so Gates will be back then. I can also use Bradford until Brady is back. Both Peterson and Ivory have a week 5 bye as well so I can plug in Blount and Sankey, Cobb and Jeffrey both in week 7 so I can put in any of my options.
Luck (5th keeper)
Cam Newton
Calvin
Cooks (8th keeper)
Wright
Cruz
Markus Wheaton
Yeldon
Randle
Vereen
Reggie Bush
Helu
Gronk
