Yanks go for the sweep in Atlanta with Eovaldi on the mound. Eovaldi has been great recently and is pitching like the ace of the staff.
Teixeira still remains day-to-day and misses this one.

ATL |(54-75)
Eovaldi looks good.
3-0 and hopefully a solid start upcoming.
Who is Josh Donaldson and why do I think all these HRs he hits are bogus?
Headley with a bomb. Power?
5-0
Now Drew - when was the last time that happened?
It also shows why there will be room for Bird to play quite a bit next year. Can't assume A-Rod will make it through the season playing 5-6 times a week without wearing down.
7-2
Bravo.
Tired and good hitting by the Braves scrubs.
8-5 in a game that should be 15-2
Warren doesn't look sharp either.
Eat apples Atlanta.
Kate Smith makes me think of the late 70's Flyers and that she has no business being heard in Yankee Stadium...

Glad there are a few that agree. It's a great version, except when effin Bobby Clark and Dave Schultz come to mind.
Sure. Or most singers today are too quick to try to put their own stamp on something that should be bigger than themself. Kate Smith was a legend and her version, to me, captured the essence of the song that made it what it was and continues to make it that today.
I'd actually prefer we copy the Cubs and have a guest singer have a try at either GBA or Take me Out to the Ballgame.

but using Kate Smith's version just demonstrates the Yankee "brain trust" and their obstinate view that their average fan is and should be 75 years old. They can retire Scott Brosius and Charlie Hayes's numbers next year and that's all well and good, but they retain Jawn and Suzyn because they can't fathom how annoying they are to anyone who doesn't have firsthand recollections of reading about the Mick in a box score.

I'd prefer that too. I think getting someone to lead Take Me Out to the Ballgame would come across as a knockoff but it wouldn't kill them to have someone sing GBA. They love honoring servicemembers and that's admirable, they could try to find any number of a few dozen armed forces bands, glee clubs, soldier shows, what have you to perform too.
People who bitch about something that was never a part of baseball until after 9/11 annoy you? Seriously? Give me a fucking break.
It's so unnesseary it's ridiculous. I understand having it right after 9/11 and, maybe a few years afterward, but now, it's just become something that prolongs the game. The national anthem is enough. God Bless America needs to be retired.

Oh the indignity of standing up for 90 seconds for GBA. People started bitching about it when we had 150K men and women in combat and they're still bitching now. People bitch.
