...Remember last year? Giants were 5-0 in preseason and look how well the 2014 season worked out.
On September 13, we'll have Beckham, Cruz, Randle, Manning Jennings and Vereen all ready to go. I'll put our offensive skill players up there with anyone. Eli has always been a slow starter. Line looks better and Flowers will be a big addition.
Did anyone think the defense would not be a work in progress? It took Spags 4 games before his unit looked legit in 2007 - they were historically awful in the first two games. We have 2 of the best starting corners in the league when healthy and maybe Merriweather, Collins, Taylor and Brown can come together in the middle of the field (we did win a Super Bowl with Michael Butler and Girbril Wilson once).
Ayers, Moore, Hankins and the kid from UCLA. Lets see them play together for 4 quarters.
Not trying to minimize some issues (especially defensively) but you had to figure it would take some time.
I'm not saying that these games are completely meaningless but they're also not really disposative of anything in the long run. It looks like our starting QB and transcendent receiver will be healthy going into Week 1. Now that's a preseason victory....
Let's all collectively exhale. Haven't we learned from past Julys and Augusts? If we stay relatively healthy from here on, we can make some noise; If this team can win a couple of games going into Week 5 we can make a run.
Don't be fooled - When I last looked, calendar said its August 30 - Giants fans - it ain't as bad as it looks
The starters looked bad for the most part much like we are seeing this year. There are legitimate red flags.
I can see the RG settling down, but, think the ceiling may be too low re: our RT.
Does the preseason prevent our wrs from getting open?
Yes..Next question
There are a ton of red flags. I still think the offense can be good but they will likely need to be unreal with the way the defense looks

A miscast ? What have you been watching ? When the guy rushes the passer he's done a good job.

this....starters have looked like dogshit 3 years in a row in pre-season. Somehow I find it hard to believe that the coaches find it NOT concerning that their starters cannot line up and execute fundamentals against other teams. This is not a Madden video game.
no one ever remembers the pre-season . there is good reason for that
2013- 7-9
2014- 6-10
This team has been 16-24 during the last 40 games. Within that time frame this team is 0-4 against Dallas. This team is 3-9 against Dallas & Philly dating back to the beginning of the 2012 season.
I will be rooting like hell for the Giants this season, but this has been a bad football team for awhile now.

Should of beaten the Cardinals, but those preseason starters did get off to a 3-2 start then proceeded to lose 6 in a row
It was 7 in a row....
Pre-season, obviously, means nothing, but the Giant's starters look absolutely awful, especially on defense.
At this point my expectations are very low.
Our D just looks bad. There's just a lack of talent out there. What infuriates me is that I could see this team as a Super Bowl contender if JPP and Will Hill were both healthy and playing well for us, those two idiots have destroyed our defense. Spags is going to have to use a lot of smoke and mirrors to make our D work this year.
Weird for the third preseason game to be a game where they have an incentive to go very vanilla.
Also, if the Giants decide not to waste to much money on a aging Eli and a foolish JPP then they should also have some spending money for next year free agents. Here to a long season and hope for the next year. [/quote]What available FA's, friend?
QB's don't go grow on trees, and neither does talent. If it were so easy, the Giants would've been able to land these prospects already.
The offense will look better, with game planning and the full playbook, with Schwartz, Cruz, Richburg, Randall healed up and ready to go. Wouldn't be surprised to see them put up 30+ points against the Cowboys in the opener.
The defense will be better than expected, with playmakers stepping forward. Maybe not early in the season, but soon enough. Good enough for 10-6? Maybe, or else 9-7.
May not happen and we may indeed get blown out on week one
But even that isn't a reason to panic. Think of your own fantasy teams. Your big players go down all of a sudden
Someone you drafted late becomes one of your best players. Someone wins because of someone they picked up off the waiver wire. Games may not be fantasy but it does show you how much everything changes. Hang tight... Unless Kuhn starts. You then have permission to panic.
Packers are a SB favorite and their "first team defense" just gave up 39 first half points.
The Steelers? They just let 3 scrubs complete over 90% of their passes. Bills QBs went 30-33 vs PIT D.
Its nothing but practice folks.
Anyone with half a brain knew - in JUNE - that the Giants defense was going to suck this year. That evaluation hasn't changed because of pre-season. The Giants defense will suck. Big time. Pre-season has NOTHING to do with it.
Funny how those guys are the same ones crying about doom and gloom now- you have such an impressive track record...NOT.
Dallas and Philly are so flawed that the best way for them to win it all, is if Rodgers, Wilson, Stafford, and Palmer get hurt.
