NGT: Skins Have Held Trade Discussions About Griffin

pganut : 8/30/2015 7:35 pm
ESPN article suggests front office personnel want him out, but...surprise, surprise, they're meeting resistance from ownership. After all, if he's shipped out, who would Danny Boy have to go bowling with?

I will never understand how Snyder was able to be so successful in business... He's such a micromanaging little twit.
He would give the Bears a reason to finally cut ties with Cutler

Texans would be dangerous with him too.

I think there'd be a lot of teams who will recall his rookie year as well as his overall talent. Coaches often overestimate their ability to rebuild talent as well.

I'd love for him to get traded to the Rams for a mid round pick.

I thought Cutler's absurd contract is the reason why they haven't.
The
AcidTest : 8/30/2015 7:45 pm : link
article says they've had trade discussions with teams, but no interest. That may be because of the provision in his contract stating that he's guaranteed $16.1M if he's injured. Teams may not want to take that risk, as the article notes. Could a trade allow Griffin to voluntarily remove that restriction? Even if he can, management may not be able to convince ownership to trade him.
Giants would want him...

His recent comments don't suggest he's the best "team-first" guy. Not really someone you want in your lockerroom, unless that's just his enduring the idiocy of the Skins' ongoing circus manifesting itself.

You left out the CFL and Arena League.

I would love to hear the laughter at the other end of those phone calls. Statue in Waco. Bust in DC. Never liked his personality. Despised it from day one. However, I underestimated his narcissism and lack of self awareness, and lack of QB skills.

It's shocking how bad he is when he doesn't have the threat of the read option. Stylistically, he can find work on a team like the Seahawks or Eagles. However, he is such a world-class tool that I can see him struggling to find a team willing to put up with him. His QB skills are no better than Tim Tebow and Tebow is a model teammate. Tebow is a lightning rod for other reasons, but he appears to at least fit in well with teammates.

My only hope is that Snyder wins the struggle. Griffin on the sidelines in DC is better than no Griffin at all. Plus, he can get injured on the scout team and cost Washington $16+ million next season. I would cut my achilles for that lottery ticket.

LOL!
I've seen the hit the RGIII went out on ....
Manny in CA : 8/30/2015 8:56 pm : link
It reminded me a lot of Steve Young, Young got hit under the shoulders (a lot more violently than Griffin) - it gave him his last concussion, then he retired.

RG got knocked down (not particularly hard) and was under a pile, but didn't receive a head shot (from I could tell).

Griffin's problem - He either doesn't see tacklers coming or he just doesn't read defenses well enough to recognize unblocked defenders (or maybe both).

If he can't take a normal football shot (now it's a cumulative thing), he's done. The Skins now recognize that, that's why they want to dump him.
I think the poster's right
grizz299 : 8/30/2015 9:07 pm : link
You couldn't give him away....even without the clause in the contract he is not now nor ever will be a QB unless he can run the read option....and I don't think he could do that now irrespective of the fact that it would get him killed.

No value whatsoever. Negative value when you add in the contract

Not naming names right now, were all over Griffin when he was drafted; oohing and awning that he was such a great talent and an even better, class act teammate and person. Ridiculous.

The same people who fell for that are the same idiots who think Trump is great. Any objective or intelligent person should have seen Griffin was a total phony. He was coached up by his bros/reps to get attention and he played the role to a T. He never shuts up, always seems to come off as contrived when he's not....he was the most selfish all about me diva I've ever seen and I'm bothered so many BBIers bought into it. If we buy into this bullshit, what does that mean for the rest of the fans who don't hate the Skins, or America in general?
Land of ignorance.

The Texans would be dangerous with an injury-prone quarterback who has no field vision, has poor throwing mechanics, and has wrecked confidence?

They can get a backup kicker for him. He has no trade value. Nobody wants the guy.

And the team that gives up the backup kicker will regret it.

Jay on the Island : 8/30/2015 10:16 pm : link
they might be able to get a conditional late round pick for him. Now no team is going to trade for him and risk him getting injured and forcing them to pay him 16 million next season. May Dan Snyder live to be 1,000.

Tell us more. I don't recall your asshattery. I always love a good egomaniacal Griffin story.
Griffin may be better with a more sane organization.

Washington is a toxic environment.

In any event, my first thought was that it's bad for the Giants if Washington gets rid of Griffin. But on further thought, it doesn't really matter. That fish stinks from the head.

Not logical at all! A name that was previously "big" does NOT mean he is a logical fit for a team that happens to have a hole at said player's position. Bob might warrant a call. But literally NONE of those teams make sense cept for maybe the Jets if they give up a 6th or 7th and gets his contract restructured
God bless Daniel Snyder

May he live a long and fruitful life.

A Facebook sports-related group I belong to featured a roast of each team. The Cowboys' and Eagles' were a lot of fun, but I didn't have the heart to participate in the Redskins'. It would have been too easy.
The one team that could make him a star....

Because his sister ran the company successfully. That's how he made his money.
RG3 acts like a Diva and doesn't want to run the plays that

made him successful his first year. I could see Philly as the one team where he could possibly be successful. It would be interesting to see if they pick him up after the redskins cut him.

Other than Philly, I don't see RG3 helping any team. I don't see him as an upgrade with the Bills or Jets.

Imagine that...BBI posters being wrong in talent evaluation. That never happens! For whatever it's worth, RGIII was a nearly unanimous top 3 pick with NFL personnel guys, scouts and draft analysts, and you're calling out BBI'ers for getting it wrong? Must make you feel pretty good.

Oh it wasn't that so much as it was how ignorant and gullible some on here were in drinking the cool aide on how great he was, what a mature, class act he was...it was nauseating that Giant fans of all people were gushing about his "character" based on some nice PR work by his reps.

I think he's immature, was anointed and let it get to his head, probably a cocky asshole... but all in all, I don't think he's a truly bad person, and feel he's been shellshocked by playing hurt and constantly getting blown up (which I know is his fault often as well).

I wonder what his value is now, realistically? Would a QB hungry team send a 3rd?
