Had my 10 team draft last night (.5 PPR)... I made one mistake which was that I had planned on taking Olsen in the 5th rd and when it came along, I lost track and thought I had one more round before I had to take him. He and Bennett went right before my next pick so I had to wait on TE at that point. Decided to take a flyer on Gates and then take Ladarius Green along with him near the end. I'll scoop someone else for depth but I wouldn't be surprised if Green made some plays before Gates gets back. I might be ok.
Anyway.. here's my team.
QB: Brady, Bradford
RB: Lacy, Ingram, Abdullah, Vereen, Gray
WR: Jones, Cobb, Landry, Allen Robinson, Funchess
TE: Gates, Green
K: Bailey
D/ST: Denver
Absolutely love the WR's I came away with.. I couldn't take Jones fast enough when he fell to my 2nd pick then then Cobb fell to my 3rd. I know he banged up his shoulder but he should be good to go Week 1. The value was way too good to pass up.
Thoughts?
Qb Ryan
RB Ingram, Morris, Blount, Sproles, Gray
Wr Jones, AJ Green, Allen Robinson, Cruz
TE Ertz, Gates, Miller
K Tucker
Def Buffalo
I have 3 te only because I am not sure that Ertz will be back week 1. if he is I will prob drop him for Michael Floyd or Charles Sims. Rbs go fast as most of the backups are gone. I looked at most of the other teams and they are all comparable.
I deleted the other thread.
Pretty strong WR's, though. And I like Ryan this year.. mostly because I think Jones is going to be a savage.
The one small thing if I had a gripe is that you have a rb/wr from the same team. I know they are two absolute studs and more often than not will perform.... but if the Packers have a shitty week - it kills you. But getting the players you did seems like a no brainer team to roll with.
Bradford should be good until he gets hurt or teams catch up with him.

Lynch went 2nd actually. I had 5th pick and the first 4 teams went RB so Lacy was my guy.. which is fine, I think Lacy is going to have a great year. Especially with Jordy out. They'll probably lean on him a little more.
I didn't love having 2 from the same team either but at pick 25, Cobb was just way too hard to pass up. Without Jordy he's going to be a legit WR1 and pairing that with Jones was a no brainer for me.
Thanks... same exact thing as you. Had 5th pick. 10 team .5 PPR. So you should have a shot at a similar team.
The draft unfolded differently than I imagined with a ton of RBs going in the first 2 rounds, even to teams that had 2 RBs as keepers. I didn't want to reach for RBs so I think that's where I'm weakest..
Luck (5th keeper)
Cam Newton
Calvin
Cooks (8th keeper)
Wright
Cruz
Markus Wheaton
Yeldon
Randle
Vereen
Reggie Bush
Helu
Gronk
I would be curious to know if Richard Rodgers TE Green Bay Packers is available...
With the injury to Nelson, RR could benefit quite a bit...
I had a draft last night... 12 team PPR... 5th pick...
QB
Philip Rivers
Sam Bradford
RB
Jamaal Charles
Ameer Abdullah
CJ Spiller
Darren McFadden
Danny Woodhead
WR
Calvin Johnson
Mike Evans
Brandon Marshall
Eddie Royal
Jeff Janis
TE
Travis Kelce
Antonio Gates
Kicker
Cody Parkey
Defense
Rams
QB: Luck, Bridgewater
RB: Charles, Hyde, Gurley, T. Coleman
WR: Matthews, A. Johnson, K. Allen, Ch. Johnson, Boldin
TE: Rudolph
D/ST: AZ
K: Tucker
Hate the 2nd pick, but I think the team has some potential, no stud WR except Matthews, but should be solid contributors if healthy.
Saos.. someone actually grabbed Rodgers right at the end. I forgot to list Matt Jones.. I took him with my last pick. Redskin RB who has gone off this preseason. Available TE's right now are Davis, both New Orleans TE's (Hill and Watson.. actually sounds like Watson is the starter).. Clay, Jordan Reed and Heath Miller.
pj.. I like that team. Really like Charles Johnson this year. As a WR4 he could well outperform that.
Brightside.. tough call, I'd probably give the slightest of edges to Martin. The Jets seem to have a lot of guys in that backfield. not sure how they're going to really use them
QB: Tony Romo and Teddy Bridgewater
RB: Melvin Gordon, Chris Ivory, Latavius Murray, Arian Foster, and Blue
WR: Dez Bryant, Calvin Johnson, Allen Robinson, Brandin Cooks, and Brian Quick
TE: Delanie Walker
Def: Arizona
K: McManus
I like my draft but don't love it, yet. I'm not a huge fan of the tight end situation and I'm 50/50 on the running backs. I am glad I went WR/WR to start.
QB: Romo, Newton
RB: AP, Gore, Hyde,Joique Bell, Duke Johnson
WR: OBJ (keeper), Dez, Marshall, Maclin, Wheaton, Stevie Johnson, Jordy Nelson (15th round for keeper in 2016)
TE: Dwayne Allen, Julius Thomas
I am holding onto T.Y Hilton for a 5th.
I also have the 6th pick in the draft. However, with most people forfeiting #1 picks, my first pick is really the 3rd and my second is the 14th.
I'm kind of torn of who I should grab. Top 3 available players are Lacy, Bryant and Gronk. I never feel comfortable grabbing a TE early. I was leaning on C.J Anderson or A.J Green (as he's the best WR available unless Bryant falls in my lap).
I think C.J might be the best player at 1, however there is a significant cut off at WR and it looks like I may only be able to grab a Hopkins or Cooks in the second if I go with him.
If I go WR, it looks like I'll have good options at RB in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, like a Miller and Stewart around my picks.
What say you all? Never done fantasy with so many teams, and haven't done PPR either. What would you do?
I agree. I was happy Lacy was the guy who fell to me. I think he will have a huge year. To get Lacy as a RB1 and then have my pick of the litter at WR before the other 4 guys who went RB before me was big. Couldn't believe I got Jones. 2 picks before me, Bryant, Jones, Hill and Megatron were all still there and I was assuming I'd have to choose between Hill, who's value may have been too good to pass up at 16 overall or Megatron who I was assuming I'd take there from the start because of fit and value.
When the picks were Bryant and Hill, I couldn't take Jones fast enough. If he plays 16 games he could easily be the best WR in fantasy this year.
I felt really good going into my 10 team. Much more uncertain about my 12 (4th pick)
Always confident going into my 10 team league...
Qb Ryan
RB Ingram, Morris, Blount, Sproles, Gray
Wr Jones, AJ Green, Allen Robinson, Cruz
TE Ertz, Gates, Miller
K Tucker
Def Buffalo

I liked this a ton, until I read PPR, then I still liked it. Not a bad strategy going with the 3rd TE over backup QB. There was probably trash left for you. In a 14 team league I have Stafford as my QB and had to grab Mariotta as my backup... it was a throw away last round pick.
QB: Brady, Bridgewater
RB: Lacy, Forsett, Vereen, Woodhead, Turbin
WR: Jeffery, Edelman, T. Smith, Crabtree, Floyd
TE: Kelce, Miller
K: Brown
DEF: Patriots
just as a real world data point, the team picking 4th wound up with. I Like his team, but I think he over-drafted Foster a little. He thinks Foster is out as few as 2 weeks. He's already dropped Ridley (for Marvin Jones) and Doug Baldwin (for Ray Rice):
1. (4) Jamaal Charles (KC - RB)
2. (21) Lamar Miller (Mia - RB)
3. (28) Brandin Cooks (NO - WR)
4. (45) Ben Roethlisberger (Pit - QB)

I'm staying away from Jamal Charles this year. He is almost guaranteed to get injured and potentially cost you a game or two. However, if he stays healthy and Foster comes back strong and early thats a solid 1-2 punch. Receiver spot is lacking there. There must have been a run on QBs in that draft if you grabbed Big Ben that early or you just believe in him more than me. I haven't done much PPR, so maybe someone will have a better opinion.
2. Odell Beckham, WR

NFL.com gives me an A+ and predicts I finish first 13-1 lol. I give it a B+.
Aside from 2011 when he tore his ACL, he hasn't missed any more than 1 game in any other season he's been in the league.
I would have no hesitation taking him in the top 5 this year.

Not bad. I really want to come away with Cooks this year. I think I can get him with my 2nd pick if I go RB first. He won't be there in the 3rd rd of my draft like he was for this guy. I'd be hoping to get Gore as an RB2 if possible.

Looking at his stats again I guess you are right. I drafted him the first last year though and he had a terrible first game and left the second game early with an injury. That just kinda left a bad taste in my mouth moving forward...

I almost never comment on drafts that unfold like this, but you picked Lacy 4th makes sense, and then Beckham was there at 21? And Julio Jones at 28?
Both Jones and Beckham went in the first or early second round of every draft I've seen.
You got very lucky.
Here is round 1 from the draft I posted above.

Still very lucky.
I typo'd, I picked 3rd actually.
QB: Tannehill, Ryan
RB: Who cares, who cares, who cares (Ingram, Coleman, Helu Jr)
WR: Antonio Brown, Brandin Cooks, Eric Decker, Cruz, Marvin Jones
TE: Kelce, Ertz
K: I don't know

in 10 team that would be Lacy at 4, Beckham at 17, and Julio Jones at 24.

That means Lacy at 3, Beckham at 18, and Julio Jones at 23.
you should do well with that team.
And Stafford went in the 7th round, but Eli in the 13th?
Eli in the 13th is a steal.
Your RB's after Lacy need some luck, but that top 3 is as good as it gets for top 3.
I typo'd, I picked 3rd actually.

Nice, I think it will work out for you. Or it's also possible Beckham is overrated by us Giants fans (though I don't think so) or that Julio Jones "relaxes" after the contract extension, and I don't think that happens either.
He's my 5th WR so it was really me taking a flier on him more than anything else. I still think he's going to have value based on the sole fact that they really have very little else at WR without Kelvin. I have four guys ahead of him who are the top targets on their teams (Jones, Cobb, Landry, Robinson) so Funchess is really only going to be used if I have bye week problems or a couple of my other guys get hurt.
WR talent always seems to pop up mid-season anyway.

It could, but lets be honest here. Leagues are really won on the waiver wire. I won last year because I was able to grab CJ Anderson, Mark Ingram, and Odell off waivers and added that to a team with Andrew Luck and Dez Bryant. Gotta find this years CJ Anderson and Odell on the waivers.

Drafting well certainly helps though.
I haven't seen Graham go that early anywhere.
yep I see it now.

Both of my leagues are not until This weekend and i am getting antsy to just get them over with...
Same here. The more time I have to think about it, the more I change my mind. I have the 2nd pick in a 12-team PPR league and my short list is getting longer rather than shorter as the days pass. On top of that, the league is a mix of experienced players with inexperienced players, so it's impossible to predict how it will unfold.
I had the 2nd pick in a 14 team league. Man, it felt like days would pass between my snaked picks.
I can keep TWO. Looks like I have great value with Bell and Evans.
Player Round it will cost me to keep
L. Bell 5th
M. Evans 13th
AJ Green 1st
Lacy 1st and 6th
Luck 2nd
Edelman 6th
R. Jennings 4th
Torrey Smith 10th
Oh, not even close. I took Gates way later. 11th or 12th round.
People forget that he was the 2nd best TE last year. The 4 game suspension hurts but even if he's just a middle-low end TE1 when he gets back the value is still there where I took him.
Antonio Brown, Justin Forsett/Lamar Miller, /Mike Evans/Jordan Matthews/Alshon Jeffery
OR
Lacy/Lynch, Brandin Cooks/Hilton, Frank Gore/Joseph Randle
Drafting well certainly helps though.
In my league I suspect a solid draft that gives my team an early season edge will help me on the waiver wire... I hopefully won't have to overbid on a player early to fill a hole and should therefore have more to spend late in the year.
Antonio Brown, Justin Forsett/Lamar Miller, /Mike Evans/Jordan Matthews/Alshon Jeffery
OR
Lacy/Lynch, Brandin Cooks/Hilton, Frank Gore/Joseph Randle
Antonio Brown, Justin Forsett/Lamar Miller, /Mike Evans/Jordan Matthews/Alshon Jeffery
but I'd take Lamar Miller over Forsett. I used to have Miller on my do not draft list, but I like him now.
Antonio Brown
Justin Forsett
Mike Evans
Travis Kelce
Jonathan Stewart
CJ Spiller
John Brown
Mike Wallace
Eli Manning
Jonas Gray
DeVante Parker
Still need another TE and QB but this is basically the type of team Id be looking at. I wouldn't hate it for a 12 team league
I haven't seen Graham go that early anywhere.
That was a shocker, Graham has been going in the 3rd mainly, but sometimes in the 4th depending on the size of the league. I've just stayed away from Tight Ends this year unless I can grab Gates or Thomas (9th round) and then I grab someone like Eifert in the final round. Graham could end up being a great value in the 4th, but I rather use that round to gamble on some gems at RB or grab a QB like Brees that may have slipped.
But if I can't get those two, I just grab one at the very end.
Basically I am just going to keep an eye on the grid and wait for most or all of the other teams to have drafted a QB and then I'll grab Eli before anyone starts taking backups.
12 team is hard. Talent really drains off the board fast. By the 7th round or so, the RB's and QB's are already very thin.

Anyone who takes Graham that high deserves to lose his league.
True story...
One of my fantasy leagues is a group of Giants fans. Roughly 10 years ago someone took the Giants defense with the #1 overall selection. I was LMAO and actually felt bad for the guy. Luckily for him it was not a money league.

I took Luck in the 2nd in my 12-team ppr because we also get 6pts per passing TD and I just felt when I picked he was the best value.
My WR's need work though. I love Amari Cooper this year, I think he'll be Beckham like with his #'s and I have him and Edelman as my starters. Edelman is a ppr machine, but his health is always a question. We also get return points, so Edelman has more value.
After those two I have John Brown, Cole Beasley, Torrey Smith, Dorial Green-Beckham, and Rueben Randle.

Yeah I am totally ok with Eli for a 12 team PPR... I think in PPR, if you're not going to take Luck early, the mid-tier QB's wind up forcing you to miss out on better value at RB or WR or even TE (Olsen, Kelce)

Yeah, it's really all about value. At that point, it's definitely there for Luck. It's a good pick.
Bama.. I like Cooper the most of that group. I think he's poised to have a very good rookie campaign.
Normally you expect a learning curve with rookies.
First 5 picks
Brown
Forsett
Graham
Ellington
Wallace...
Not terrible...
I take Julio if I have that choice
Julio. Roddy is starting to decline and they're going to go downfield more this year. I really think he's going to have a monster year. Denver, on the other hand, I think is going to be a little more run oriented and lean on CJ Anderson the way they did last year down the stretch. They also have Sanders there and this may be the year Latimer emerges.
Atlanta also figures to be trailing more often than Denver and will probably just be throwing more overall.

Jeez.
Here's my team so far:
[.5 PPR team]
Am I crazy enough to dismiss this trade if it actually comes to fruition?
RB - Hill, anderson, jennings, spiller
WR - hilton, evans, cobb, bryant, charles johnson
te - daniels, gates
k - haushka
D - rams
non-PPR. no Flex.

Very solid. How many teams?
What was your thought on auction vs snake draft?

10 teams. I disliked it. it's much easier to get a stacked team. my qb isn't the best, but he will still throw close to 30 tds.
RB- Hill, Gore, Ivory, Abdullah, D. Johnson
WR- Bryant, Matthews, Robinson, Boldin, Royal
TE- Olsen, Eifert
D- Broncos
K- Tucker

well you probably had a later pick. I don't like gore that early. you probably could have gotten a better number 2 WR like an evans or hilton and come back with a l. murray or even drafted a cooks.

Even for an 8-team league, this team is too stacked.

I guess Gore was your 3rd/4th pick? I'm not a fan of Gore as my RB2 but love him as a Flex. You have great depth at every position but no true game changer.
If you can package your depth with one more game changer in either QB/RB/WR, you'll position yourself nicely for the playoffs.
Someone like a Jeremy Maclin for your Abdullah and Robinson can yield you a monstrous return.
