...
Surprising.
Jon in NYC : 8/31/2015 10:16 am : link
He'll find a spot somewhere.
If Giants were not set at RB
nygiants16 : 8/31/2015 10:17 am : link
i would say kick the tires...

I think we see a couple of more surprises, usually teams will cut veterans early so they have achance to catch on with another team...
I love Fred Jackson

One of my favorite players in the NFL. DIII guy done good. Very sad to see this. He was a warrior for them.
He's 34 1/2
Big Blue '56 : 8/31/2015 10:18 am : link
years old..Not sure too many, if any, would give him a look
There are quite a few landing spots that immediately jump out to me
jlukes : 8/31/2015 10:20 am : link
Dallas, Jets, Packers, Bears, Raiders, Steelers, Ravens, Browns, ATL

Maybe not before week 1 (vets contracts are guaranteed for the year if on week 1 roster IIRC), but first team with a couple RB injuries should be on the phone with him. He can still be a solid contributor.

I could see the Pats picking him up.
Who's McCoy's back up now in Buffalo?
MadPlaid : 8/31/2015 10:22 am : link
Crazy
The guy can still play...
EricJ : 8/31/2015 10:22 am : link
maybe not at the highest level, but he knows WTF he is going. He will protect the QB and provide some veteran leadership. So, don't think of him as the starting RB somewhere. In fact, if we did not have Vereen I would want to go after him for our 3rd down back. He can probably handle that kind of workload.

Cierre Wood, I think?
Ugh

I really hope he doesn't go to Dallas.

I just don't see it..As a last resort, for a few weeks if necessary? Why not..Otherwise, no..Imo
He just had 5 carries for 48 yards
Lionhart28 : 8/31/2015 10:27 am : link
and a score in their last preseason game.
nobody saw the game this week against the steelers?
Gordo : 8/31/2015 10:29 am : link
dude ripped off a like a 40 yard run on the like the 3rd play, almost scored.. then scored on the next play
Can he play Safety?
Victor in CT : 8/31/2015 10:29 am : link
Or RT?

;-)

Really surprised by this. FJax looks like he still has a solid year left in the tank and if I'm Buffalo, I'd want insurance for McCoy. Spiller is gone and now all that's left is unproven talent.
He
Toth029 : 8/31/2015 10:39 am : link
Ran well the other day.

I wonder what's going on.
....
Toth029 : 8/31/2015 10:46 am : link
What's his contract like?

He could go to someone like Houston if he starts, but he probably makes too much for a backup role.
McCoy's back ups are...
Mike in St. Louis : 8/31/2015 10:58 am : link
Boobie Dixon and Karlos Williams...
I think Buffalo cut him now..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/31/2015 11:02 am : link
to give him an extra week to catch on somewhere instead of waiting for final cuts.

I'm surprised though. He finally looked injury free.

Also Bills named Tyrod Taylor starter.

^^^^^THIS^^^^^

I really like FJax as a player and would hate to have to root against him.
Damn
CromartiesKid21 : 8/31/2015 11:38 am : link
Bills didn't even offer Ffjax a pay cut before releasing him...Rex still passed at him for owning the Jets past 7 years?

This says Cowboys have no interest in FJax. Of course, that probably means he's signing with them later today, based on Jerry Jones' penchant for bullshit (i.e. "The Cowboys are not in the market for (WR) Roy Williams." Traded for him days later.).
No FJax to Cowboys? - ( New Window )
If Jerry Jones

was still making the calls in Dallas they'd have Manziel. It appears his son is much smarter and a pretty good GM.
Shady McCoy backups in Buffalo.
Red Dog : 8/31/2015 1:34 pm : link
The Bills are loaded at RB like they are at most positions. McCoy's primary backups are the slightly nicked-up Boobie Dixon and promising rookie Karlos Williams. And they still have ex-Iggle Bryce Brown and two other guy even after cutting Freddie Jackson and another one of the no-name guys that they recently signed.

They also have two quality FBs with ex-GIANT and Jet John Conner as the number two guy and a likely final cut.

They are loaded almost everywhere, illustrating that a team can still have great depth even in this day and age.
Bronson Hill
KWALL2 : 8/31/2015 3:21 pm : link
The Bills have this undrafted rookie RB. He looked good running over Shamarko Thomas from the Steelers. Looks like a 230lb RB with excellent speed.

Nice find by the Bills.
my friend interviewed him
Les in TO : 8/31/2015 3:22 pm : link
and said he was one of the most down to earth, nicest athletes he's ever met. he was a beast for a number of years. hope he catches on with the patriots and proceeds to torment rexy and the bills.

He just came back from a hammy injury, didn't he?
I bet the Steelers sign him
SteelGiant : 8/31/2015 7:44 pm : link
With bell out, they are only 1 deangelo williams injury away from playing Dre Archer who falls over if he sneezes and can't block. My money is on Pittsburgh to sign him asap
A total pro
PEEJ : 8/31/2015 7:47 pm : link
.
looks like he is going to sign...
Mike in St. Louis : 9/1/2015 12:23 pm : link
with Seattle...strange considering they have Turbin and Michael...
Not surprised by the cut
MarshallOnMontana : 9/1/2015 12:31 pm : link
He had a good stat line the other day, but if you watched that long run of his the hole was gigantic and he looked sloooow trying to showcase some long speed there. Looked like a full back. I'm a bit saddened by the fact that he is the last RB in the NFL who was older than me. If he doesn't land in another situation, I will be older than every RB I ever watch for the rest of my life

Deal with it! Wait until you're older than most if not all of the coaches..:)
