Shit just got real for week 1 vs. Dallas

Andy in Boston : 8/31/2015 12:26 pm
There is now a possibility that the following players will not play:

Victor Cruz
Robert Ayers
Jon Beason
JPP (obviously won't play)

And who knows on these guys with respect to their injuries/tendinitis, etc.

Richburg
Randle
Schwartz
Chykie Brown

the top 4 I mentioned
Andy in Boston : 8/31/2015 12:28 pm : link
and Richburg and Randle are 6 of our best players.
JPP and Ayers were the best 2 pass rushers last year....jusdt a reminder.
Lets assume they were all in perfect health
WideRight : 8/31/2015 12:32 pm : link
Would the result likely be any different?

The qualifier is that if they really got ALOT more practice in together, perhaps. But now, with Cruz, Randle, half the 0-line; it doesn't matter if they regain their health tomorrow or not. The damage was done.
I tink the word you want

we were not going to Beat Dallas in the opener, imo..We should be fine when we face them at home..

I would love to see an upset, but I don't see a win at all..This from a Kool-Aid guy
We're likely gonna get slaughtered.
bceagle05 : 8/31/2015 12:34 pm : link
My stomach's already turning at the thought of Jerry Jones' shit-eating grin in the owner's box while his team drops 40 on us. The Dallas Super Bowl talk will begin in earnest, as will four months of "is Coughlin getting fired?" and "is Eli an elite QB?" debates.

what did me in were the quotes this a.m. from Ayers and Cruz.
Ayers is our best pass rusher right now and Jordan Ranaan had him as his top player at camp. We have ZERO shot without him. And then throw Beason in there and Cruz on that list?

Since it's a primetime game, I would guess the camera will show his luxury box no less than 25 times. Maybe that fat slob Chris Christie will be present.
they are going to score

i don't think we will but there is no one who is going to think we have a shot vs Dallas. Nobody. I'd like to think that is when we play best but that also feels very five years ago too...
only hope is
Andy in Boston : 8/31/2015 12:38 pm : link
that Romo and their offense are still working kinks out and are not yet fine tuned....like most teams this time of the year. Dallas defense doesn't scare me....its being able to contain their offense, which is close to impossible, without a healthy Beason, Ayers, JPP, etc.
.
Danny Kanell : 8/31/2015 12:39 pm : link
The only thing I see as even a remote possibility of things unfolding into an unlikely win, is we CANNOT turn the ball over and we just say fuck it and aggressively blitz all day, leaving our corners on islands and smacking Romo around senseless.
I'll worry about who's playing and who is not playing
Ten Ton Hammer : 8/31/2015 12:39 pm : link
on the last practice day before the game.

Why would you do that now?
I'm okay with that
giantgiantfan : 8/31/2015 12:40 pm : link
as long as our line plays at an NFL level. I'm throwing in the towel on the defense and hoping he can win this with offense. Signing James Jones is looking better and better. Put him outside in 3 WR sets and move Randle or Odell into the slot. Hope to god that we can move the ball on the ground.
WAH!
Randy in CT : 8/31/2015 12:40 pm : link
Glad the pussification of BBI is in full effect!
Doesnt Dallas have a bunch of injuries to?
nygiants16 : 8/31/2015 12:42 pm : link
who on their defense is going to cover beckham?

Their OL has been banged up and who is their starting RB? Mcfadden?...

Dallas is not going into the game healthy either...
While I don't expect that Giants will win this game
Matt in SGS : 8/31/2015 12:42 pm : link
I would not at all be shocked if they did. Most Giants/Cowboys games, particularly in Dallas, turn out to be shoot outs. If the Giants offensive line holds up, this Cowboys defense doesn't remotely scare me. I think the first team to get to 35 will win, and yes, that team could well be the Giants.
We can definitely light up the Dallas defense, minus Scandrick.
bceagle05 : 8/31/2015 12:44 pm : link
Even without Cruz - Beckham, Randle, Vereen, Donnell is more than enough. We'll need a couple of picks from Romo though. We actually played Dallas very competitively last season, but I just don't think we're ready for this type of test out of the gate.
JPP's not gonna play?

Like others have said, can't see them coming out of Dallas with a win.

Dallas O vs Gmen D is a terrible matchup. They will probably be able to chew up yards on the ground and limit the Giant's O opportunities. With limited possessions, they'll need to make them all count. We've seen the past few seasons it seems to take a while for the Giant's O to get going
To read BBI..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/31/2015 12:50 pm : link
you'd think that Dallas has been the model of excellence this preseason and will be completely healthy to boot.

Their CB position might be in as bad shape as our S position. Yet a Dallas victory is all but assured.

Again - it is almost like people have never seen preseason before.

and just forfeit. I mean, c'mon - Eli will throw 3 picks (2 will be returned for TD), defense will give up 40+ points. Their O-line will push our d-line all over the place. And let's not forget that Dallas will be SB bound in Sept!!!

I am sure the same sentiment was shared on BBI before 2007 SB.

if you don't think there is a direct translation and carry over from preseason in individual performances to the regular season you are sadly mistaken ... I am not talking about final scores, who cares who wins and who loses ... I am talking about projected 1st team players and they level of expectation and how they are actually playing ...

there is no semblance of any continuity in any phase of our team ...

Shocking. Giants should have just signed Harry Carson. He would contribute more than IR Beason.

Spot on-

And Bortles is going to lead the league in QBR this year because of how well he's looked this preseason. People need to get a goddamn grip.
Preseason has absolutely zero bearing on the season

name the last preseason where the offense looked good going into the season..

Name the last preseason where the defense has looked good going into the season....

Name the last preseason where Eli has looked good going into the season?

Preseason is for testing out situations and certain plays against live competition,

do you honestly think the Giants gameplan for these games? no team gameplans....

Ok so

Adrian Peterson is going to suck since he has not played a single snap in Preseason...

Aaron Rodgers and the packers are going to suck since they have struggled in preseason....

Russell Wilson and the seahawks offense is going to suck because they struggled in preseason....

Peyton Manning is going to struggle because they have struggled in preseason...

Preseason has no bearing on the regular season...

If that was the case the Giants would have never won the superbowl in 2007 or 2011
All Dallas has to do is
spike : 8/31/2015 1:22 pm : link
hand the ball off 40 times and then play action some passes to get our safeties to bite.

Their OL will bulldoze our DL into the ground.

so the offense is going to go from struggling to put 3 consecutive plays together to get a 1st down, to scoring 45 points on opening night ...

interesting ...
Hey Hem roid answer the question
nygiants16 : 8/31/2015 1:35 pm : link
since preseason translates to regular season:

does that mean the seahawks are going to struggle?

Does that mean Peyton is going to struggle?

Does that mean Aaron Rodgers will continue to struggle?

Does that mean AP is going to be terrible?

If preseason meant what was going to happen in the regular season, the Giants would not have won the superbowl in 2007 and 2011...

the preseason is intended for building continuity and learning tendencies amongst teammates ... the final score is irrelevant ...

its a dress rehearsal to see where your projected 1st teamers grade out and individual analysis takes place ...

based upon the 1st 3 preseason games, there is not much difference from the 2014 team and where we left off 6-10, to this projected team ... who I feel, where fare worse ...

I do not care about those other teams, I do not follow them as I do my Giants ... I do not know what there rosters consist of personnel wise ...

I can tell you this much, watching a handful of other games this weekend, most teams 2nd/3rd teamers play with more effort, instinct and want to win than our 1st team ...

Lol you are completely changing your argument as you go...

First it was if a player struggles in preseason he can not turn it on for the regular season...

then it was a team can not turn on a switch and be a good team for the regular season...

now it is ok to struggle as long as there is continuity from one year to the next....

what continuity was there from 06 to 07? strahan nearly retired because he thought the team was going to suck and have to rebuild...

you are completely making shit up to make your argument work but it is falling apart...

and i am not even saying this team is going to be good or not
nygiants16 : 8/31/2015 2:05 pm : link
all i am saying is no one knows what this team is going to be based on preseason....

Only problem with your theory is the "reality" you're referring to is an undetermined future state of this team. There is no reality yet, you doofus. This is the NFL and plenty of teams surprise the league and come out with good seasons. My opinion is the Giants actually have a very good starting lineup, but have some of the worst depth of the NFL, and in a league with endless injuries and more regular rotations from backups, we won't have the talent to stick with Philly and Dallas. I think we're looking at an 8-8 football team.

But that is an opinion. It is not reality, nor is what you or anyone else on this board thinks. In 2007, would it have been rooted in reality to predict the Giants would win the Super Bowl after being embarrassed the opening two weeks of the season? And with that, would I have been a pussy who can't handle reality if I thought the team could on a run? What fucking nonsense. Shit changes. Players grow... and with that, some players regress.

I don't think someone is a pussy if they note that the Giants have had an enormous amount of injuries compared to the rest of the league in recent years. That, unlike your declaration of a reality that doesn't even exist yet, is not my opinion. That's actually something that's rooted in fact. What a pussy I am for being upset about this fact regarding my favorite football team.

I will be rooting hard every week as I have done for the past 30yr's regardless, but at some point you have to start looking at things for what they are ...
No you are not looking at things for what they are
nygiants16 : 8/31/2015 2:14 pm : link
you are looking at things at how YOU think it is going to happen....

If you looked at it for how they are, you would say it is preseason and the team is still 0-0, they have struggled so there is reason to worry but the season has not started yet...
The only fact about this season
nygiants16 : 8/31/2015 2:17 pm : link
is no one knows what is going to happen,

The team can go 0-16, 1-15,2-14,3-13,4-12,5-11,6-10,7-9,8-8,9-7,10-6,-11-5,12-4,13-3,14-2,15-1,16-0...no one knows...

so to say this team is done and is going to suck based on preseason is simply wrong....

you could say there are signs that are troubling and this team needs to get it fixed quick, absolutely...but you cant say this team is going to suck simply based on preseason...

wha ti said was that preseason means nothing and that when the season starts everyone starts 0-0 that is fact...

if they struggle and go 0-3 or 0-4 i will be right there with you killing them...

But for now i look it at as the season has not started yet, yes they have struggled but when the bullets fly we will see what kind of team the Giants are, for now it is all prediction based off of glorified scrimmages...

I wake up each and every morning believing in you..Am I delusional or on the correct path? Am I putting my faith in the wrong soul or will that faith continue to be rewarded?

you'd think that Dallas has been the model of excellence this preseason and will be completely healthy to boot.

Their CB position might be in as bad shape as our S position. Yet a Dallas victory is all but assured.

Again - it is almost like people have never seen preseason before.

Yep and this is why I avoid BBI in the preseason, its all doomsday.

Wait until Dallas wins a few games. Their OLine will have 5 hall of famers. Romo will be the bestest QB ever. Dez is the most passion filled player and is a great teammate because of it...

Same song and dance every year. And they are pretty healthy outside the CB position. If we were just missing our safeties and had Beatty, JPP, Cruz, Beason, etc... healthy, there is no doubt we could beat them. We went toe to toe with them twice last year and we sucked.

Not sure why people say this. Bill is a hell of an intellectual, who is generally a nice guy when he posts, but if you piss him off and go at him with stuff, get ready! lol... he will not let it slide and will most likely eat you alive unless you are 1000% prepared (and right). I have yet to see the latter.
