Hi Eric,
Do you archive past/previous years preseason game reviews, or are they gone forever? If you still have them, I think it would be interesting to re-read them.
This preseason has obviously been dreadful, but I don't know that it looks THAT much worse than last years' (where the issues and injuries were different). Granted, last year was a losing year, but when then the regular season started and they looked much better than they had in preseason for the first few games until the injuries took their toll.
But I honestly don't remember how bad they looked in preseason last year, but I think it was pretty bad, so I was wondering if those old reviews were around.
Actually, I can't say I recall them EVER looking like a well-oiled machine in preseason in the Coughlin/Eli era.
For the last 10 years I've held a blindly optimistic view every season. This year I have much more realistic expectations.

No offense to anyone, but I pay no attention to pre-season beyond watching individuals that interest me. I can't imagine checking out prior year's pre-season games. The current ones don't mean much and the previous years' games mean less.
Sounds familiar..
Sounds familiar..
Cute, but didn't mean shit come regular season when Eli threw his tied 2nd fewest ints in a full year. Not knocking you for posting it, just stating a fact based on what you posted.

[quote]My biggest issue with Manning was the one near interception by Kyle Wilson on the 11-play drive to end the first half. You simply can’t make that throw, by any means. It was a terrible decision from Manning and it was throws like that that led to his career-high 27 interceptions a season ago. That’s not a new scheme, that’s not bad block. That’s Manning not thinking.[quote]

I get it but I was referencing this year's review based on the similar nature of the two.
A week after finishing the game against the Steelers 0-for-2, in four possessions against the Colts, Eli Manning finished the game 1-of-7 for six yards. The initial, somewhat positive 6-of-7 performance in the Hall of Fame Game has faded. In three games, Eli has yet to complete a pass over 10 yards. The $100 million quarterback has ceased making plays.
if we are to be honest with ourselves, we must also consider the worst-case scenario: that at a young 33-years old, Eli may simply not be a good quarterback anymore. He did not play as well in 2012 as he did in 2011. In 2013, he had his worst season as a full-time starter, looking rattled and making dumb mistakes that bad quarterbacks often make. So far, 2014 looks like a continuation of his bad play in 2013.
Eli Manning has lost his mojo and it remains questionable about whether he can get back.
FROM THE JETS GAME

While there were some strong individual performances, the overall defensive performance was not good. The Jets scored three touchdowns and a field goal and had drives of 72, 66, 76, and 82 yards. They rushed for 146 yards on 32 carries (4.6 yards per carry average) and their three quarterbacks cumulatively were 22-of-33 for 278 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions (123.0 quarterback rating).
Sounds like pretty similar stuff in a lot of ways.

Lol..Not quite the same..A one-liner does not take any bandwidth to speak of..Pictures, especially lots of pictures causes a lot of scrolling to read posts..But point taken murderer! :)
I think this year it is more of a "mix and match" mentality for the offense, particularly the offensive line trying to find the right combinations. However, I thought they'd show some more consistency considering this is year two of McAdoo's system and not look so .... blah.
Defensively I remember the same types of things happening in 2007 with Spags. Actually I remember watching the 2008 defense get shredded by Cutler and the Bears in the preseason. I was in South Korea watching that game. If you remember 2008 at all - you'll remember that the D that year was pretty stout.
I'm hoping this doesn't continue much longer but you just never know. The injuries are not making it any better.
