Notable NFL Cuts

Emil : 8/31/2015 2:47 pm
Thought this would be a good thread for guys to highlight players cut by other teams that they'd like to see the Giants bring in for a workout.

-- Lost in all the commotion around the Bill's cutting Fred Jackson is that they also cut CB Ross Cockrell, a 4th round pick from 2014. Was Duke's all time leader in interceptions (12) and guess what, he was a team Captain...so there you go. He's 6'0'190, 24 years old. Wouldn't be a waste of a tryout. The Bill's secondary is loaded, so someone good is going to get cut out of there.

-- The Bill's also cut S Kenny Ladler, and undrafted rookie FA from last year who they brought up from the practice squad late in the season. He played well on special teams, but did not have a chance to make the final 53 given the Bill's quality at safety. He is 6'0" 207lbs, and has some upside. Went undrafted out of Vanderbilt, has average speed for a safety (4.7 40) but was a top performer for DBs at the combine with 24 reps on the bench press, 36.5 inch vertical, and a 127 inch broad jump (stats taken from NFL.com's draft profile). He's an in the box guy, who led the team in tackles and ints his senior year, and forced 5 fumbles.

- Bears former starting CB Tim Jennings: Chicago is cutting him because they want to give younger players a shot. He obviously wouldn't be a starter with the NYG but could be worth a look as a nickle CB/injury insurance.

He was a major underachiever. He never caught up to NFL speed.

4th round as a steal after the Watkins trade up move and still taking Kouandjio in the 2nd. Hmm... he couldn't impress Rex enough?

The Bills are quite deep in the secondary.
the Giants not going after some cuts

from other teams is going to cause a full scale meltdown. And frankly I could see a scenario where they don't do a lot of acquisition from others.

is a very interesting FA as he is young with starting experience.
