3 vs. Philly at home before going on the road for 10 to Miami, Washington & Atlanta. Take 9 or 10 of those 13 (esp if 2 of 3 is vs. Washington) and it will be tough for them to overtake us.

Let's go Mets!!!!

Now is the time to pick up another game+ on the Nats. Would love to sweep the Phillies and see the Nats lose 2 of 3 to StL.. put us 7 up. They'd really have to sweep us to even get back into any sort of race at that point.
Addison Reed trying to warm up to Mets fans already. lol

we can have some more exciting games. I don't think there will be a sweep this time, but I've been wrong before.

Boyd
Reynolds
Bowman
Taijeron
Nimmo
Gsellman
Rivera
Pill
Walters
Sewald
Lugo
Becerra
Baldonado
Mateo

Seemingly Nimmo, Lugo, Reynolds, Gsellman would be locks. Becerra would be the guy debated and Sewald the wild card protected player for me. Smoker must also be added to the 40 man or he will be allowed o leave via FA.

having a great year but scouts love Alfaro. He could be a star for the Phillies. As a Mets fan I'm scared of Roman Quinn, seems like we will be HATING this guy shortly, Cornelius Randolph has been incredible in his debut season for them, JP Crawford looks like a stud. The Phillies could turn it around "reasonably" quickly.
I'm fine with a competitive division

Cornelius Randolph

32 walks vs. 32 k's, .866 OPS in the GCL. Very impressive

Quinn .791 OPS with 29 steals
What I find incredible about the Mets
Headhunter : 8/31/2015 4:00 pm : link
is that their pitchers live up to or exceed their hype. I read for years that the Braves have killer pitching in the Minors, but they get to the Show and meh. They are supposed to have more coming but until they establish one without blowing out his arm, it'll be just hype

...that young pitchers fulfilling their potential is problematical. Hell Harvey, Degrom and Matz have all undergone TJ already. It's a crapshoot and so far this time we've come up Aces.

I think Syndergaard might just be wearing down a little bit. This is the right time to start skipping a start or two for him. I bet he'll really benefit from it.

I don't know what happened to Teheran but he was damn good the past 2 seasons (3.03 era 1.12 whip over 63 starts), Shelby Miller (trade) has been fantastic, Vizcaino has been pretty beastly so far, Foltynewicz looks like a reliever to me, far too hittable for that velocity (hello Bobby Parnell)
Braves
DanMetroMan : 8/31/2015 4:08 pm : link
also lost 2 studs to double TJ. Medlen and Beachy. I think people forget how good these 2 looked.

Frustrating thing going on with Duda
Metnut : 8/31/2015 4:17 pm : link
It's honestly uncanny how it seems that any sort of injury prognosis that the team gives out is too optimistic and wrong.

Are our team doctors that bad or is the team just lying to us to try and make fans feel better about injuries? Either answer isn't acceptable IMO.
Back injuries
sshin05 : 8/31/2015 4:21 pm : link
are always tricky. Unless its chronic, rest is probably the best way to go.
I really don't want Duda to rush this
ZGiants98 : 8/31/2015 4:22 pm : link
The last thing we need is for him to come back and aggravate the muscle again. Get it 100%. I don't care if he's out another 2 weeks. Get it right. We need him in the postseason.

Did I not call this the second he started having discomfort?

Same trajectory with every single injury prognosis. Player gets hurt, team says he will likely be fine and will not need to go on the DL. This is usually followed by "he's available to PH and is feeling better".. then the player either makes an appearance or doesn't and then the team says the player will need to go on the DL but should be ready to come off when they're eligible.. then while they're on the DL, they determine that they won't be ready to come back when they're able to and that it'll be longer than expected.

It's uncanny.

Do you think he'll be ready to hit against Greinke/Kershaw after being out for 6 weeks? I'd be very worried if he's not back by mid-September.
My point is
Headhunter : 8/31/2015 4:43 pm : link
there is no reason to rush him with a balky back. If he has to be delayed to get to 100%, and it takes a while, err on the side of caution with a back. Hitting Kershaw, he is never going to do that :)

Yea, Mets shouldn't rush him back from the back injury, but there does come a point when we're close to the end of the season and he has to try and give it a go. I'd put that point at somewhere between 9/15 - 9/20. If he's eligible from the DL around 9/7, that gives him an extra week, maybe two weeks, to heal up.

And yea,
Metnut : 8/31/2015 5:01 pm : link
him vs Kershaw probably isn't the best matchup for us!

Quinn better stay healthy or else he will be looking for a trade. Herrera has proven to be a find in the rule 5. Nick Williams is raking in AA. Knapp may be moved to LF eventually (and he has been smashing the ball at AA). I lvoe Quinn and his speed is just awesome, but he has achilles and ankle injuries already. If he cant stay healthy, he will be out of a position.

The Phillies need the number 1 pick. They need a Puk or Pint. Alfaro broke his ankle this year, and is just rounding back. He will be at AA all next year, and look for him to be the starting catcher in 2017. His power is legit. Needs to work on defense though.

Unless Plawecki is light years better at framing pitches I don't think it will help him much. His problem is the inability to throw his secondary pitches for strikes early in the count. Hitters have just been sitting on his fastball lately. Hopefully he finds his control, if he does he dominates. At bats like Ortiz's HR yesterday have been happening too often lately....3-1 fastballs = XBH.
Matz is rehabbing against Reading tonight
dep026 : 8/31/2015 6:15 pm : link
Reading is loaded with talent in the Phillies system.

Williams, Crawford, Knapp are all very good to great prospects. They are going up against jake Thompson who was the main pitcher that came back in the Hamels trade. They have some career minor leaguers in Stassi and Charles. Only if Quinn didnt get hurt. Reading will win their division and make the playoffs.

There is a LOTTTTTT more that goes into than just framing. Plawecki has grown immensely over the years as a pitchers favorite friend. Instant ban for anyone that disagrees...
