NFT: MS Word 2010 Question

tbonfig : 8/31/2015 3:15 pm
I have created several "styles" and saved it in a document. My idea was that once these styles were created that I could apply them to other documents. However, whenever I open a new file, these styles are not available.

Is there a way to store them somewhere to pull in every word file I open?

Thanks
You used to be able to do that by saving your document

with stored styles as a Word Template ".dot"

And I used to edit and save the "Normal" template. I believe there is still a way to do this, but it is buried DEEP in the settings, preferences or whateverthefucktheyarecallingitnowtheevilbastards.
There should be a checkbox

not sure if it's 2010 or added later that when you save a new style that says "New documents based on this template"

otherwise as mentioned you need to update the Normal.dot template and your style will be available in other new documents.
That would make so much more sense

By changing the file extension or accessing the Normal template.

Man I am only 30. I can only imagine how some of you old farts feel doing this stuff :p
