out for the season (maybe Behre returnable IR, though that would be desperation since he's played 32 snaps in his career on defense and usually that's reserved for someone more important)
Gordy? and Miles now injured somewhat.
6 injured safeties, 4 for the year. Am I missing someone?
Bottom line is the fact this guy getting hurt is relevant is scary. He awful as are the other injured corners and safeties we have .
Most were probably jags (or worse), but you have no idea what Bennett Jackson, Nat Behre, or Mykkele Thompson would have been like at safety, none are experienced. I think Thompson in particular gets overrated here, but fact is no one knows.
For that matter neither are the two potential starters (experienced) in Collins and Taylor.
They're constantly shuffling players in and out..The regulars aren't in there long enough to get their juices going..There's little to vanilla gameplanning, players honing their route-running etc...It's 90 players that need to be bisected, dissected and trisected..It's not the final 46 we have on Game day during the regular season..
Great points - looks like this isn't the first time the team has been hit by a hurricane of injury at a specific position. I do actually remember that game in 2005. Can't believe that was already ten years ago. Giants just can't seem to catch a damn break

Not talking about results. Talking about a player completely blowing his coverage assignment in the red zone.

It's pre-season..More common than not..Even during the regular season, the best of the best blow coverages..

Ok, fine. No player evaluations. Let the suck-ass warm bodies get automatic roster spots just for participating!
You're judging the guy's worth on one friggin' missed assignment..In pre-season yet..I wouldn't judge the totality of a guy's worth if he did that during the regular season...I'd be pissed, but that's all UNLESS he kept repeating these mistakes..
or injuries, it has been the cluster ones that have hurt the most and really what separates us for the rest of the teams.
In the past years, we have had injuries that wiped out the complete starting units at either CB, RB, LB and S. This year - at least the injuries have been mainly to backups.
The LB's in the Carolina playoff game were listed above, but remember the injuries to the OL two years ago that caused us to use the most OL combinations by a team EVER?
The clusters will be the ones that take any team down. Let's just hope the starters stay healthy!
The guy looks awful. Lost in coverage and doesn't tackle well at all....we are talking about guys that would not even be on another teams roster...
May or may not be true or prove to be true..But what does that say about this board? A bunch, perhaps many, were hoping we'd jump on him as a FA..I was one of those..:)
Jeromy Miles probably needed a strong week to earn a spot among the Giants' Top 4 at safety. Groin injury does not help in that regard.
[quote] His gaffe on Decker's TD was really unacceptable. [/quote
Not much is unacceptable in pre-season unless it becomes a habit when it counts
Behre
B. Jackson
Justin Currie

who was talking about cluster injuries? FMiC?
Don't forget what happened to the linebackers in the 2005 season and who ended up starting for us in that playoff game.
umm it is unfortunately for a position that is decimated and need bodies. Even if considered not good by some
and what a frick'n disaster in that game.

2009 Safeties and you have CC Brown on the field against the Saints.

I don't agree with that at all.

Bad players being replaced by bad players. We went into the season 1 deep at S. Bottom line in all this. Enough with the woe is me attitude.
Brown will take his snaps so that is not a big deal.
What is a big deal is we will most likely be starting two guys who are green as grass at safety vs Romo. He is going to carve them up.
