I like my defenders mean, nasty and with a chip on their shoulder. If this author is calling them out as being the worst defense in the NFL, my pride/ego would be bruised and I would channel that into whoever I was lined up against that week.
While yes, talent matters most, every edge counts including motivation.
It's why coaches bring in motivational speakers, it's why Coughlin brought in Gadsen in 2007 and strahan/LT to speak to the 2011 team, etc.

It's easy to predict shit right now but really this team could surprise if the younger talent emerges. I'd rather bank on younger players emerging than holding on for one last run with older vets like we did in 2013.
