I was listening to Denver's sports talk this morning on my drive into work. One of the hosts of the show stated that Peyton told them the Broncos are not running the plays found in their playbook during the preseason games.
I have no idea if that is true or not; but it makes sense. Why give opponents anything to look at to prepare for the first game?
I am passing that tid-bit along because there are a lot of Giants fans ready to jump off a bridge and I don't want anyone to do that (especially Mr. Editor). There is a chance that what you are seeing the Giants run isn't what you will see them run during the regular season.
To further put things in perspective, look at the top 10 quarterbacks during this preseason (link). Ryan Nassib is outplaying Eli and Brock Osweiler is outplaying Peyton. Does anyone really think the Brock is the better choice than Peyton (besides Eric) or Garrapolo is a better choice than Brady (37% QB rating and two picks) or Brett Hundley (who the hell is that?) is a better option than Aaron Rodgers? How often have we seen guys look like world-beaters against second stringers only to disappear against the starters (DT Willie Joseph comes to mind).
We all need to keep this preseason thing in perspective.

But most teams don't game plan and show their best stuff in the preseason. That's nothing new.
But since everyone does it, what's your point? Football still comes down to blocking, hitting, and tackling.
This team has a serious lack of available talent, admittedly partly due to injury, partly due to poor talent evaluation, partly due to holding on to players too long after they have proven to not be NFL caliber and partly due to bad luck. Add all that up, this is a bad team. Luckily we have Eli, so we have a fighting chance if he plays out of his mind (he's done it before).
This why I'm very excited to see what our first three draft picks do this season and beyond. All should greatly help from a fundamentals perspective.
My mouth is watering at what flowers will do to a Giants running game that has been MIA for years now
Has it occured to you Kuhn is playing because he is the best option...and healthy?
My point is simply very few first string offenses are looking very good right now. Although some of the top QB's in the NFL are getting shown-up by their backups; it is meaningless.
well...the coaching staff keeps putting them out there on the field, so indirectly, it's bad coaching =p

Anyone that wants to dismiss the ineptitude of what's gone on on the field in these 3 games as "it's just preseason, it means nothing" is kidding themselves.
It is just preseason and it does mean nothing. There is plenty of reason to doubt what this team is capable of, but none of that would be any different no matter what was to happen in August.
This is especially true with a new coordinator running the defense. We saw it last year on offense. The offense looked clueless through all of preseason and the first game of the year. Then all of a sudden about halfway through the Arizona game something clicked and things were very different on O moving forward.
The defense is going to bad, but it also going to improve from what we've seen. I believe the Giants will ultimately be a 500 football team, but I think they'll be in contention for a playoff birth until the very end.
Can't wait to see their real playbook...
We don't want to show the NFL who jay fing Bromley is!!!!!
Can't wait to see their real playbook...
Nothing new here. Same story for the past 15 years.
