Very wary of people talking like this is a done deal. There is a shit-ton of baseball to play, and in just a half a week, Washington is potentially within one series of re-taking the lead.
I don't buy the sentiment that Washington is going to somehow fade away, or implode (or both). I think their fight will keep this interesting.
I'm hoping the bullpen gets bolstered, and our new depth is managed well down the stretch.
this would be my "everyday" lineup with just one replacement of Wilmer for Tejada.
I use the term everyday loosely b/c lineup flexibility is such a strength of the roster at the moment, but a big game to win, I want this configuration plus Wilmer.
I never understood why fans care what other fans or analysts say. I think the Nats are done. They aren't catching us and I could not be any less worried about them at this point. They just aren't that good and the Mets aren't going to slow down to .500/below .500 pace anyway.
If they sweep us I'll think twice. They won't.
But none of what I say will have any effect on the outcome. Nor does it matter what talking heads say. What are people "wary" of? The Mets buying into it and taking their foots off the gas? Meh..
believe the Nationals aren't catching up to the Mets. Even with their easy schedule after the Cardinals, the Mets have it just as easy to pad leads and stats. Also the Nationals recent history suggests, they won't be able to pitch to catch up.
According to Elias Sports, only two teams since 1969 have come back to win a division after being down 6 1/2 games or more entering September: the 1978 Yankees and 1995 Mariners.
So as to make it not as easy for a manager to bring in a lefty reliever to face grandy, Cespedes, Murphy.
Wright kills lefties so it's more likely a manger either uses a lefty vs grandy and then takes him out right after or waits until after wright is up, thus giving Curtis an extra at bat vs a righty. Of course his last option would be to leave the lefty in to face wright.
Adam Rubin @AdamRubinESPN
Source confirms Steven Matz will sub for Noah Syndergaard in Miami, then Mets go to 6-man next turn.
So they will skip Thor only once? I thought it was going to be twice?
If you skip Thor twice, that is a very long layoff, especially if you keep a 6 man rotation after that. Essentially he would probably only pitch once this month before heading into the playoffs. They said he was going to be starting as of just recently, so that would be a scary proposition for a rookie pitcher going into his first playoff.
This season, he's pitched 152 innings. IF you assume he should only pitch approximately 30 more innings than the previous season, then he has two starts left. With 31 games in the season left, I think they'd want to have him skip another start. And that's not considering the possibility of post-season play.

Not twice in a row - twice during the month (is what I read)...
In a perfect world, they can skip Harvey, Thor, and maybe even deGrom once more between now and October 4th. I dont think its too crazy to get done, especially if they have the division all but locked up. Throw Verrett twice and with Matz back, it can be done.
So apparently they aren't going with 6 man rotation?
I saw the Mets at the Nats a couple months ago and my friend commented there was hardly anyone in the lineup hitting over .225. Now it's a regular murderers row.
Amazing how this team turned around offensively. Still, I would feel better if they didn't seem to struggle and flounder against better competition (getting swept by the Pirates and losing 2 of 3 to the Sox).
Seriously, I feel like the mets fare better against the good pitchers than the bad pitchers like Harang. I'm sure the stats don't back me up but that's how I feel, lol.

I could be wrong but I feel like Harang just owns us. And worst he credits Warthen as making him better as he went out the door and joined the Braves the following year.

Except, he's not better. There's no reason the mets shouldn't be hitting him...like every other team.
TDA, Conforto, Cuddyer, and Granderson are the only people hitting. Seems like Cespedes, Flores, Murphy, and Wright haven't been doing much lately. That's baseball though. Ups and downs.
you guys gave up on this game, you do realize that the Phillies have some kind of awful pitching?
Because Harang has dominated us over the last two years.
Not the same Mets team. Much better hitting team. And you do remember the Phillies bullpen got smacked around by the Japanese little league team, right?? haha
for when Howard, Herrera, Brown, Asche have a chance to bat.
I am sure they other guys would be in the game if they had a lead. You rarely use your better relievers when losing.
Gilmartin can pitch two innings and badly needs work. Our entire pen is excellent against lefties. Reed, Clippard... all better against lefties
Just as an outsider view, Gilmartin seems to be saved against Howard has a chance to bat. He is useless against LHP. but you know your team better than I do.
Both of these guys need to get lost. Alvarez needs to take EOF's spot and Goeddel needs to take Parnell's. Neither of these guys should ever be allowed to pitch again.
is that I think Dan is right that he could be in the running for manager of the year if The Mets make it.
But if they collapse and lose the division, he could very well be fired. Especially with moves like tonight. Though I blame the FO/ownership because I think if Parnell were not making 4 million, he would not be on the roster right now.
Its like he's going from the very bottom up the ladder in a 2 run game where we just had all the momentum. I don't fucking get it. Gilmartin needed work. Reed needed work. WTF is going on?
RE: This better have been the last straw for Parnell.
Talk about making all the wrong moves. Why these guys are even options is beyond me.
I mean, they know it's not an injury with Parnell. They were going to release him of the didn't go on the "DL". They know he sucks. And he's the first fucking option he goes to? JFC
terry deserves a pat on the back for this season though. Real underrated skipper. Has his pulse on the team.
With this pitching staff, I think most managers would have the team in first. I actually don't think the manager has that much effect on the overall member of wins. No more than 5 over the course of the season.
when Parnell was recalled it was an honorary thing. Sort of a badge of honor. He might get used once in a blue moon in a blowout or something. I can't believe this.
Terry realizes this game is prob a loss and is assessing 3 players in question so he has an idea what he needs going forward.
Yes he is risking losing the game but he is also gaining who he can trust in a big spot.
EOF is prob cut tomorrow and Parnell might not make it past one more bad appearance
What? It was a two run game? Plus the playoff bullpen is set He doesn't need to assess anything. We have 6 or 7 very good relievers. This is a fucking joke. He went from the worst possible option up the ladder.
Oh well, let the Phillies get it out of their system
Hey the Phils have played the part for you guys this year. We were due for a win. Dont worry, I think the Phils despise the Nats more than anyone. We will sweep them for ya!
talk about manufacturing a rally for the opposition
bring in Gilmartin and this is probably a 1-2-3 inning
So Torres can't be used either? Bullpen keeps getting smaller.
Torres is the 7th option in the pen. He's the long man and also likely doesn't make the playoff bullpen. Torres should never be in close situations either.

Dude, what are talking about? The Mets just rallied from down six runs to 6-4! The game was not "probably a loss." The thing that made it a loss was bringing in Parnell.

Not to be a jerk but thats just stupid. It was a 2 run game and he had Reed, Robles, Goedell, and Gilmartin available and he put in the 3 worst possible guys in order. Thats about as awful of a job to be done.
Fuck that. It was a two run game. We were just coming back. We can't throw away games. Im well aware the overall picture is fine but this game was bullshit.

6-7 ?? Please elaborate cause I know of 3 maybe 4 , reed isn't proven yet
You need to relax , this had to be done at some point.
You Think it's a coincidence in choosing the 3 biggest question marks in the pen
Is a fucking damn good pen and they are all sitting on the bench as bystanders. This game is gross. Indefensible. Its only one loss but this is easily the most irritating one in a long time.
put Parnell in another situation. If we were still down 6-0, sure, let him pitch. But once it got to 6-4, you can't put in a reliever with a 10+ ERA, and expect him to hold the other team in check. He has not proven he is capable of doing that this year, in the major leagues or in the minor leagues. O'Flaherty the same. Torres just flat out cannot locate his pitches, he's really hit or miss.

Reed isn't proven yet? The guy averaged 30 saves a year for three straight years as a CLOSER. He's been phenomenal in a setup role. You don't think he's a better option than Parnell? Are you fucking high?
But the larger question is why is Parnell even on the roster. He obviously doesn't have it. Most people were surprised when Parnell was resigned at close to 4 million. It seems to me that is why he is getting extra chances. $$$$$

I think after Parnell blew it up TC chose to go to Torres and EOF , which is what I base My statement on
How else do you test these guys under pressure , sucks but you could win from this too
Looks like I picked a good time to take my dog outside.

The only testing we need to be doing is with Dario Alvarez VS EOF and they need to be in against lefties only. Parnell was never making a damn playoff roster. There is no testing there.
RE: Looks like I picked a good time to take my dog outside.
a la what Rory is saying. I actually don't expect much from Goedell because I don't think he is fully healthy. But he is a guy who could conceivably make the postseason roster.
Parnell has zero chance. He has lost 6-7 mph off his fastball, and when he does rear back and throw a 95 mph fastball, he has no control. This is a guy who used to be able to hit 102 mph on the gun and could throw 98 mph with ease.
And I can understand that, but he's earned it tonight.
There is no "testing out" Parnell, EOF, and Torres at this point on the season. You know what they are. You test out Reed and Alvarez. If you think Terry had a "plan" for those moves then you are giving him way too much credit.
RE: RE: Looks like I picked a good time to take my dog outside.
That's one reason players like him. Parnell pitched a lot of great games for Terry his first few years as manager and I think Terry wants to give him every last chance to prove himself.
That would be fine in June. But it's September. The Mets do have a decent lead over the Nats but not enough to be throwing away games. And throwing away a game is precisely what Terry did tonight.

His arm just has not made it all the way back yet
Goedell was absolutely phenomenal for us for the first third of the season. You absolutely are optimistic with his return. Not even remotely the same thing as Parnell and EOF who have been getting their brains beat in all year.
Its up to Sandy. Sandy needs to DFA Parnell and replace hime with Dario Alvarez in a couple days. Cant even leave Terry the option. Sorry Bobby. Would have been nice for you to be with the team and with your friends for a month but Terry fucked up the whole thing by thinking you were here to actually pitch. lol
but we just lost a game on the Nats for no apparent reason whatsoever. Just complete sloppy managing tonight. Almost shocking even.
They've scored 14 against 4 different pitchers. Your optimism on a victory is impressive.
Seriously? You didn't feel like we were coming back after it was 6-4? Is this a joke? He went to the absolute worst three option in our pen and worked from the bottom up. What are you trying to say here exactly? That we suck? We have no pitching?

Please save Collins from himself. Parnell is not going to get better any time soon for this postseason run and he is giong to be a FA.
Just DFA his ass and wish him the best. He was never that good even when he was healthy.
do you think Terry would NOT use Parnell in a situation in a playoff game?
Because I can totally see that coming and god help this manager if it does. I think he likes to lean on veterans and he will not look at past results to make his calls.
pitched in 15 games, 14 innings, this year in the minors, Bing and St Lucie. He was 0-2 for each team with a 12.27 ERA for Bing and a 10.80 ERA for St Lucie. Among his other glorious stats he walked 14 in the 14 innings.
And TC was "testing" him in a 2 run game game in Sept in the middle of a pennant race?

But Ive seen a lot of hustle from Cespedes in this game. He flew over from CF into the gap and almost threw out a runner at third earlier. Flying around the bases trying to leg out a triple down by 9 runs? Why would he do that?

Zero chance. No room. Guys like Torres won't make it either. We have a 6 man rotation and at least one, maybe two will be moving over to the pen to boot.

Anyways. Back to to the Terry bashing.
Dude, come on. Plenty of people have seen his lack of hustle plenty of times in his short time here. The next time he legs out a routine grounder will be his first. He obviously hustles sometimes but he doesn't hustle way too much.

Im not arguing that but how is that different than Murphy, Wright and about 90% of our entire roster? The only person I see busting his ass down the line every single time is Cuddyer and everyone here hated him not that long ago.

None of those guys would have their hands on their knees watching a play they should be backing up.
Look, I'm obviously not alone in this thinking but we'll just have to disagree on this topic...I don't want to spend the rest of the night debating it : )

Im with you. And I agree that play was indefensible. It really was. I think he thought it was gone but we'll never know for sure. Outside of that though I haven't seen a whole lot. You say you have so Im on the look out. lol
I think things can change but right now my guess would be:
Starters:
Degrom
Harvey
Matz
Colon (starts game 4)
Pen:
Thor
Niese
Familia
Clippard
Reed
Gilmartin
Robles
Obviously, I'm assuming Matz picks up where he left off, but I think he will. In fact, I think he is a future ace. I don't really see any room for Torres and Parnell. EOF has not been effective against LH since coming to the Mets.
I know some think Colon and/or Niese will be left off the roster but that seems highly unlikely imo. Guys who start 30 games go to the pen in the postseason.
Think Niese would would still favor Colon for now but that doesn't effect your roster. I still think you might go one shorter though if your trying to get somebody like EYJ on the team. I also think Terry/Sandy will want that extra LOOGY so the winner of the Dario Alvarez/EOF battle likely makes it.
My take on his not moving on the HR. I think, like Z said, he thought it was gone and he was not giving the Red Sox the satisfaction of turning around. Almost like, "It's gone. So what. We are going to come back and kick your asses in the bottom of the inning."
I really think it was more machismo than lack of effort. Everything about how Cespedes plays is all attitude, being slick and cool, sticking your chest out. He grew up playing baseball in Cuba not the US, so he formed his playing style down there and maybe he doesn't realize how some of his antics appear to US fans. Or maybe he doesn't care. That's just the way he plays.

Couldn't have said it better. And my fear is that people are starting to paint this picture that he's this selfish player that only cares about himself and his stats. The guy is a month from free agency, and busting his ass legging out a triple losing by 9 runs. That doesn't compute for me.
he said that he thinks he can return for the playoffs, that would be a godsend if he was as effective as he was in april
Wouldn't count on it. Alvarez has been unreal against lefties though in Vegas of all places. I think he'll be an effective LOOGY in a few days. If not I feel great with Gilmartin in tough situations.
but God help Terry if we lose out on anything over one win. He literally took this would be win, threw it in the trash, poured gasoline all over it, and lit the whole can on fire.
Anthony DiComo ✔@AnthonyDiComo
Honest about his bullpen decisions, Collins admits he could have used Gilmartin or Goeddel in the 6th. But he wanted Parnell to be that guy.
Once he walked the first two batters you pull him and when you do you don't go to EOF and C Torres. At least at that point get in somebody good to clean up the mess. Every single one of those runs is on Terry. Ugh. Anyways. Tomorrow is a new day.
He's trying to get Parnell out there in a spot where he can succeed and get some confidence back. Problem is, we are in September now and now's not the time for those types of morale booster experiments. Just can't do it.
Terry was going to give those 3 last chances to prove something in a game that they were losing but yet still reachable.
Personally, I feel bad for Parnell and Torres, they did admirable job when the team stunk. Now they are probably the outside looking in when playoff time comes.
If I had my choice of who I'd want on the mound to get us this series tomorrow night, it's the guy we have going tomorrow. I trust Harvey to get us right back on the winning track by being dominant.
Sandy may need to just cut Parnell to stop Terry from using him
I don't really care that he used him today, it was a predictably bad call but you can second guess any BP decision that doesn't work out. That said, they absolutely cannot use him anymore. He's cost them, what? Each of the last 4 games he's appeared in?
He's trying to get Parnell out there in a spot where he can succeed and get some confidence back. Problem is, we are in September now and now's not the time for those types of morale booster experiments. Just can't do it.
The problem with that logic is that this is the same guy that uses Familia every single night in blowouts because "we have to win games" and wouldn't play the younger players last year because "he has to win games". Trying to get Parnell's confidence going in a game of this magnitude in September is absurd. There's no excuse. The whole pen was rested and he literally had 6 fantastic options just staring at him waiting for a call.
with him compounding the issue. Ok. Parnell is imploding. He throws the ball away.... Why go to EOF there who has also been getting tattooed? Just terrible. I could justify one move like Parnell but fucking up the situation three times over is just too much.
Is there even a single poster who would have done that?
I mean we disagree on just about everything here, but I can't recall a single person saying Parnell should be in the pen.
It seems blatantly obvious that his arm is still not fully recovered. He was shelled in the minors and he was shelled in the majors. How much more evidence do you need?
that he had EVERY intention to get Gilmartin and Reed into the game no matter what. They needed work. So you identify Parnell, EOF, and Torres as the guys to bring in when its close and identify Gilmartin, Reed, and Goedell as your garbage time guys?? Freaking crazy
Is there even a single poster who would have done that?

While your not wrong, I really felt he would be the tenth/eleventh guy in the pen. Give him a chance to re-join the team and be around the guys. But this is ridiculous. Obviously Terry had other intentions. Time to cut him ASAP.

Like I said.. not the time to do it. It's obvious Parnell is a mess and has absolutely no faith in himself so Collins thought if he put him out there against the bottom of the order in a winnable game, he'd have something to build on. I don't agree with it, that's just essentially what he more or less admitted he was doing.
RE: Storen was 29/31 in save opportunities with an ERA of 1.80
is that its ok to be homer broadcaster. I thought being objective was normal being influenced by New York Mets broadcasting over the years. Until I started to hear other team broadcasters, just basically out and out homerism all the way through.
Ray Knight was an integral part of the '86 team but the team dumped him at the right time. Just lasted two more seasons.

That's so true about the broadcasters. Even a respectable franchise like the Cardinals has a homer crew. Do fans really just want to hear cheerleaders? I much prefer the objective analysis offered by the Mets' announces, which really adds something to the watching experience.
midwest fans are generally happy go lucky, so they love homer announcers that call the game as good guys vs. bad guys. Hawk Harrelson, Cubs, etc.
Is the Brewers guy considered a homer? He's very famous. Don't know if he is.
I have not heard them say anything negative about Terry Collins! And he has made some awful in game decisions. maybe SNY does not allow negative remarks regarding management!
Thank God that the Nats have Matt Williams, a worst manager than Terry Baby..
Everyone who works at ESPN believes the #Mets are making the playoffs.

Take 2/3 from the Phils or Marlins and sweep the other.
Then take 2/3 from Nats.
Game Over.
With one already in the bag that would leave us 19 games over .500 starting play on 9/10.
This isn't 07, the Nats are not as tough as that Philly team was and long losing streaks are not likely with our pitching staff.
Source confirms Steven Matz will sub for Noah Syndergaard in Miami, then Mets go to 6-man next turn.
It's not the way I'd do it either, but he's alternating left handed and right handed hitters.

So they will skip Thor only once? I thought it was going to be twice?
Wright kills lefties so it's more likely a manger either uses a lefty vs grandy and then takes him out right after or waits until after wright is up, thus giving Curtis an extra at bat vs a righty. Of course his last option would be to leave the lefty in to face wright.

Not twice in a row - twice during the month (is what I read)...

Matz will pitch "sometime soon," TC says. Mets won't go to a 6 man rotation
Amazing how this team turned around offensively. Still, I would feel better if they didn't seem to struggle and flounder against better competition (getting swept by the Pirates and losing 2 of 3 to the Sox).

So Jon Niese, Matt Harvey and Jacob deGrom remained lined up for D.C.
Last 2 weeks: 30 AB, 1.233 OPS
I could be wrong but I feel like Harang just owns us. And worst he credits Warthen as making him better as he went out the door and joined the Braves the following year.

Seriously, I feel like the mets fare better against the good pitchers than the bad pitchers like Harang. I'm sure the stats don't back me up but that's how I feel, lol.

Except, he's not better. There's no reason the mets shouldn't be hitting him...like every other team.
Maybe move Ces out of the #2 spot for a bit? Terry has no problem shifting every other player in the lineup but not with Ces?
From one crappy beard to another?
Because Harang has dominated us over the last two years.
Quote:
you guys gave up on this game, you do realize that the Phillies have some kind of awful pitching?

Not the same Mets team. Much better hitting team. And you do remember the Phillies bullpen got smacked around by the Japanese little league team, right?? haha
Haha now EOF next. Holy crap.

Bingo
Murph's the last guy I want to see on the wrong end of a throw off line to first.
But if they collapse and lose the division, he could very well be fired. Especially with moves like tonight. Though I blame the FO/ownership because I think if Parnell were not making 4 million, he would not be on the roster right now.
Shame he couldn't throw a strike. Had good velocity and some movement.
Brought him in for a lefty I thought, Philly made a switch.
I mean, they know it's not an injury with Parnell. They were going to release him of the didn't go on the "DL". They know he sucks. And he's the first fucking option he goes to? JFC
With this pitching staff, I think most managers would have the team in first. I actually don't think the manager has that much effect on the overall member of wins. No more than 5 over the course of the season.

to face a righty to boot. Geezus.

I missed that, your right. I still would have yanked him. EOF can't pitch to a righty EVER.
bring in Gilmartin and this is probably a 1-2-3 inning
Yes he is risking losing the game but he is also gaining who he can trust in a big spot.
EOF is prob cut tomorrow and Parnell might not make it past one more bad appearance

What? It was a two run game? Plus the playoff bullpen is set He doesn't need to assess anything. We have 6 or 7 very good relievers. This is a fucking joke. He went from the worst possible option up the ladder.

Not allowed to. Has to face one batter unless he injures himself
I think the problem most have here is not a loss in itself but the manner in which is being "earned".
Hey the Phils have played the part for you guys this year. We were due for a win. Dont worry, I think the Phils despise the Nats more than anyone. We will sweep them for ya!

Torres is the 7th option in the pen. He's the long man and also likely doesn't make the playoff bullpen. Torres should never be in close situations either.
Yes he is risking losing the game but he is also gaining who he can trust in a big spot.
EOF is prob cut tomorrow and Parnell might not make it past one more bad appearance
Dude, what are talking about? The Mets just rallied from down six runs to 6-4! The game was not "probably a loss." The thing that made it a loss was bringing in Parnell.
Yes he is risking losing the game but he is also gaining who he can trust in a big spot.

Clippard
Reed
Gilmartin
Goedell
Robles
Is a fucking damn good pen and they are all sitting on the bench as bystanders. This game is gross. Indefensible. Its only one loss but this is easily the most irritating one in a long time.

The only testing we need to be doing is with Dario Alvarez VS EOF and they need to be in against lefties only. Parnell was never making a damn playoff roster. There is no testing there.
Worst game of the season this side of the pre-trade rain game.
Oh Hey buddy
Parnell has zero chance. He has lost 6-7 mph off his fastball, and when he does rear back and throw a 95 mph fastball, he has no control. This is a guy who used to be able to hit 102 mph on the gun and could throw 98 mph with ease.
His arm just has not made it all the way back yet
I read that as player assessment.
There is no "testing out" Parnell, EOF, and Torres at this point on the season. You know what they are. You test out Reed and Alvarez. If you think Terry had a "plan" for those moves then you are giving him way too much credit.

It's justified tonight, his decision to bring the two biggest turds into this game right when we got back into it was inexplicable.
I have no problem getting on the guy when he does something stupid. Most managers will at some point.
That would be fine in June. But it's September. The Mets do have a decent lead over the Nats but not enough to be throwing away games. And throwing away a game is precisely what Terry did tonight.

Goedell was absolutely phenomenal for us for the first third of the season. You absolutely are optimistic with his return. Not even remotely the same thing as Parnell and EOF who have been getting their brains beat in all year.
They've scored 14 against 4 different pitchers. Your optimism on a victory is impressive.
EOF Parnell and Torres will not betaking any roster spots on the 25.
And ...the Mets might make one more attempt at getting another lefty specialist.

Because I can totally see that coming and god help this manager if it does. I think he likes to lean on veterans and he will not look at past results to make his calls.

And TC was "testing" him in a 2 run game game in Sept in the middle of a pennant race?

Zero chance. No room. Guys like Torres won't make it either. We have a 6 man rotation and at least one, maybe two will be moving over to the pen to boot.

Dude, come on. Plenty of people have seen his lack of hustle plenty of times in his short time here. The next time he legs out a routine grounder will be his first. He obviously hustles sometimes but he doesn't hustle way too much.

But Ive seen a lot of hustle from Cespedes in this game. He flew over from CF into the gap and almost threw out a runner at third earlier. Flying around the bases trying to leg out a triple down by 9 runs? Why would he do that?

Im not arguing that but how is that different than Murphy, Wright and about 90% of our entire roster? The only person I see busting his ass down the line every single time is Cuddyer and everyone here hated him not that long ago.

Starters:
Degrom
Harvey
One hell of a pen if you ask me.

Wouldn't count on it. Alvarez has been unreal against lefties though in Vegas of all places. I think he'll be an effective LOOGY in a few days. If not I feel great with Gilmartin in tough situations.
Hopefully it does't come back to bite us.
Honest about his bullpen decisions, Collins admits he could have used Gilmartin or Goeddel in the 6th. But he wanted Parnell to be that guy.
Personally, I feel bad for Parnell and Torres, they did admirable job when the team stunk. Now they are probably the outside looking in when playoff time comes.
I mean we disagree on just about everything here, but I can't recall a single person saying Parnell should be in the pen.
It seems blatantly obvious that his arm is still not fully recovered. He was shelled in the minors and he was shelled in the majors. How much more evidence do you need?
Over his last 3 appearances, Bobby Parnell has faced 12 batters and gotten 2 outs.

While your not wrong, I really felt he would be the tenth/eleventh guy in the pen. Give him a chance to re-join the team and be around the guys. But this is ridiculous. Obviously Terry had other intentions. Time to cut him ASAP.
As for Addison Reed, Collins said he was saving him for the eighth because Familia was unavailable, so the ninth belonged to Clippard.

That's so true about the broadcasters. Even a respectable franchise like the Cardinals has a homer crew. Do fans really just want to hear cheerleaders? I much prefer the objective analysis offered by the Mets' announces, which really adds something to the watching experience.
Is the Brewers guy considered a homer? He's very famous. Don't know if he is.
