I'm hoping winds up on practice squad..

Mosely? Finally..
Surprised about

Tye. Otherwise not so much.
So

much for the Weatherford vs. Malone debate. Now it's Weatherford vs the waiver wire. But my guess is he survives that as well. We'll see.

the first cut. Hope he gets some chances on Thursday
re. Tye
ColHowPepper : 9/1/2015 4:14 pm : link
we know they like Donnell; Fells is the best blocking TE; and hopefully they're warming real hard to Cunningham, who looks to be improving as both pass catcher and blocker, and who is big and physical; no real sense in keeping Tye hanging on, no?
that Hunt guy

Nat Berhe still alive.
Mosley

and Herman both gone in the first round of cuts. One of Cleary or Donnelly has probably made the team.
I thought Robinson was the one who was the better blocker
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/1/2015 4:18 pm : link
I like Fells too, but if Fells is the better blocker, then why is Robinson still here?
Surprised that

Yeah, but the problem as I understand it, is that you can't put a player on short term IR unless they're first on the 53. That means he'd have to be on the roster at the expense of somebody else. I guess you can do it if the person he's bumping is someone you don't care about losing. But it still seems like a risk.

Still one more move to go, right?

That's 14 out of the 15 moves needed.
Odd that they compared Mitch Petrus to

Rich Seubert and Brandon Mosley to David Diehl, when neither ever came close to sniffing their respective jocks.

There's been mixed messages about how long term the injury is going to be now that they've removed the clot. Not a Doctor, but I'd have thought if he's on blood thinners then he'd not be able to play even if the calf is better.

Giants down to 74 players on the roster. They could add someone, but at this point, unless that player is going to stick on 53, no reason.

He may only have a 4 week recovery time. He might be worth keeping on the inactive roster. Right now, nobody has heard a prognosis

Gotcha. I'm bad at math, but all day the media has said we needed 15 roster moves to get from 90 to 75; 14 moves seems to take us to 76, not 74. I'm sure it has something to do with a couple of these injured guys not having counted against the 90 in the first place or something.
The losses of JPP and Beatty
Chris684 : 9/1/2015 4:26 pm : link
are just too costly in my opinion.

The O-line with Beatty looked like it had the chance to be a real strength. Now?

We needed JPP, where are our playmakers?

Looking at the roster depresses me. It goes without saying I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see it this year. I don't see any scenario where this roster is talented enough to ride the magic wave late a la 07, 11.
So this is what we have left: 74 active players
dpinzow : 9/1/2015 4:31 pm : link
OFFENSE (35)

QB: Eli, Nassib, Stanzi (3)

TE: Fells, Donnell, Cunningham, A. Robinson (4)
OL: Flowers, Pugh, Richburg, Schwartz, Newhouse, Jerry, Hart, B. Jones, Gettis, Reynolds, Cleary, Donnelly (12)

DEFENSE (36)

DT: Hankins, Bromley, Kuhn, D. Hamilton, Jenkins, Ellis (6)
DE: Ayers, Bars, D. Moore, O2, Selvie, Wynn (6)

Since Reese took the GM job drafting lineman in the later rounds has been nothing short of a train wreck.

Also, rookie S Mykkele Thompson, who was already placed on IR, now doesn't count against the 75-man roster limit.

how bad are they as players that neither could out play Jerry or Newhouse !
TTH - Robinson
ColHowPepper : 9/1/2015 4:41 pm : link
If I could answer that question in a rational manner that squared with what I see, I would try. Fells has had relatively fewer snaps, I think, but all three (Donnell, Fells, Cunningham), each in his own way and with his own strengths, appear to have greater intensity and power (exception Donnell).

Perhaps it's because Robinson has been around so long, there's a comfort level; but that doesn't really explain it either because everyone is in year 2 of McAdoo. To me, Robinson kind of drifts around the field, looks as though he gets in the way of defenders and goes through the motion of squaring to block or push his man to the outside/inside--to me--zero intensity or explosion. I didn't see Saturday night; evidently he caught a few short passes. Maybe it's more of the Brewer four year rule.
I know the run game running right
Headhunter : 9/1/2015 4:45 pm : link
with the first teamer's went nowhere, but how many times was Eli sacked this preseason? How many hits did he take? Can they upgrade
Newhouse and or Jerry? Sure, but to make it like they are doing a terrible job isnt so
You reap what you sow ...
Spider56 : 9/1/2015 4:45 pm : link
This is a good start to the final 53 ... But if Kuhn, Hosley, Herzlich and Robinson and are still here next week, we are headed for another losing season. I don't know who has the final say on who stays vs not, but clearly there is impaired judgement in either bringing in new talent or keeping the best players. The status quo is terrible.

Herman
AcidTest : 9/1/2015 4:54 pm : link
was a seventh round pick who had a good career at Ohio U. For where he was taken, he was a very good pick. He just didn't work out. But that doesn't mean he wasn't an excellent pick at his draft slot. The problem is that none of Brewer, Petrus, Mosley, or McCants every produced. Although I'm not sure how McCants is doing in Oakland. We have to hope Hart is the beginning of a new trend.
Remnants of the 2010-2012 draft classes...Yikes

Out of the 21 picks from the 2010-2012 draft classes -- six are on the roster today and one is in South Florida "rehabbing". Yikes.
Curious,
Big Blue '56 : 9/1/2015 5:12 pm : link
How many left on other teams, same period?
As for the Mosley pick at #131 in 2012...
Big Blue Blogger : 9/1/2015 5:16 pm : link
...he currently looks about the same as Miles Burris (#129), Christian Thompson (#130), Jeron McMillian (#133), Greg Childs (#134), Matt Johnson (#135), and Josh Chapman (#136).

Mike Daniels (#132) was a good pick, but the Giants probably weren't in the market for a 3-4 DE.
If Hosley, Robinson and
Steve Filipowicz : 9/1/2015 5:17 pm : link
Kuhn are cut, what disastrous period of drafting by Reese.
steve they all should be cut

For Mosley ...

Glad Mosley was cut

Very frustrating player. Can't stay on the field. time to move on.

Surprised Hunt was that injured he was waived. I think if the DB's were healthier they would have kept him around longer. Surprised about that.
