Most Interesting Roster Battle

Biteymax22 : 9/2/2015 2:59 pm
We have a few positions where there is a pretty good fight for the last roster spot such as wide receiver, running back, DT, LB and CB.

I think the battle for the last LB spot between Unga and presumably Herzlich is the most interesting to watch. I am rooting for Unga.

Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on what they thought.

last WR spot. Davis has made the team IMO. That leaves one spot for Parker, Jones, Talley, and Washington, assuming we only carry six.
You mean it's not Punter?

Talley actually looks relatively decent and versatile but I think it comes down to Parker and Jones. Jones is good backup but I think his lack of special team play means he's more at risk, your backup WR's have to play special teams.
Regarding the Wideouts

Davis - IN

Battle between Parker, Talley and Jones. I am confident Washington does not make this team.

When you think Talley has the edge, Parker always seems to be Eli's go to lately. Based on that this leaves Jones out.

Cruz, OBJ, Randle, Parker and Talley edges out Jones.
Talley is definitely intriguing.....

Would be nice if he came on strong in tomorrow's game. Could be another year on PS for him however. I think McAdoo likes Jones.

at Safety has been pretty interesting.

this preseason its not absurd to think the Giants may carry an extra wideout for the week 1 53 at the expense of another position..The week 2 or 3 roster may actually see a cut and re-sign sort of deal.
Not sure there is one

I've been thinking something similar. In particular, I suspect Jones will survive the final cut to 53, but might not make the Week 1 roster (where his salary becomes guaranteed) if Cruz and Randle are full-go. Alternatively, a younger 7th receiver (Talley/Parker/Washington or even Davis) might be waived after a game or two as the front-line receivers get healthier.

The natural positions for the Giants to go shorthanded would be OL and DL, subject to progress reports on Beatty and Pierre-Paul.

I think Jones is on the team. Idk about a battle there.

Idk if Selvie is quite safe, he hasnt shown much. I didnt think he'd be a lock when they signed him either.

Im most interested in who are the backup lineman. I love Hart, I think he'll be starting sooner then later.
Donnelly has looked ok but then he has looked pretty slow.
Jones has looked pretty bad but will they really go with Reynolds again?

what about backup cornerbakcs- Wade, Brown, Fenner, and Harris. I like Harris im not big on the other 3. Brown knows the D but he scares me in coverage and always draws penalties. Wade has looked real good then real bad. Fenner hasnt done much

We are losing some serious net yardage during punts.

I've though Jones was a lock at WR

But both Parker and Talley are making it a race. I still think it's Jones because he can step into the #2/#3 spot. He has those kind of skills. They only activate 5 so he could be a guy who doesn't dress until he's needed to fill one of those spots. Davis gets the #5 spot because of his ST skills.

Jerry, Reynolds and Hart seem secure. The last OL spot I think is Donnelly.

The last CB spot is interesting between Holsey, Harris and Brown. I think Wade and McBride are in.

Unga and Hezlich for the last LB spot. Herzlich is the better STer. Unga has upsde but also can be on the PS. ???

Fells and Robinson (Cunningham is in) for the last TE spot. I favor Fells.

Both will make it. 4 RBs as usual.
Unga v. Herzlich
mikeygiants : 9/2/2015 8:37 pm : link
I wonder who is going to make the team. I'm not a betting man, but Herzlich has to be about 1,000,000 to 1 to make it over Unga.
They need a successor for Beason ...
Manny in CA : 9/2/2015 11:32 pm : link
McClain's best games are behind him, Herz plays hard but has been given plenty of chances to claim the position and couldn't do it ...

Unga over Herz.

You are right. That's why Jerry signed a PK :-)
