fortune to be a "part of" this franchise going on 60 years..The Giants have always been family...As with other peers, I have countless live dtories to tell..
How many people can say they've had a 60 year passion?
No team brings me more joy when they win or more grief when they lose
--- I feel like I'm one lucky fan because I started really rooting for the Giants in 1980 or so. Over the last 35 years I've experienced 4 great great moments. That's more than most NFL fans can say.

game at the Vet, do you guys remember LT losing it after he got called for a bogus personal foul penalty. I've never seen Taylor more angry....he ripped off his helmet and threw it way behind the bench.
Pat Summerall said..."There goes his helmet, way behind the Giants bench...Lawrence is peeved."
giants, 49rs,george martin just missing a sack on montana to end the game, next play, montana to rice 83yds,kenny hill and mark collins took each other out of the play, game over.we went 10-6, lost to the jets in the season finale,no playoffs.still stings.
There are guys on this team who I just loved to watch who were role players....guys like Tony Galbreath, Larry Flowers, Phil McConkey, Andy Headen.
And some great moments even from lunkheads like Elvis Patterson, when he picked off Jaworski in OT at the Vet for the game winning TD.
I loved Larry Flowers. IMO, the best special teams coverage guy we ever had. Yes..better than Reyna Thompson. Headen always used to say " I will SMOKE LT in a race" lol
One done right after Super Bowl XXI (that's the one I watched...not to confuse the issue, but the LT thing at the Vet was on another old tape that I made).
There was the history one you are talking about.
And then they did another one after Super Bowl 46 (however, much of #2 and #3 history tapes are really ripped right out of the first). That said, I still prefer the intro and ending of the first (as well as the overall narration job).
I think one of my favorite lines in it was - when they are talking about the 1970's - "Giants fans were left praying for a miracle only to see the miracle go against them." (you can imagine what play they showed next).

Same here. 85 or so is about as far back as I can remember.
Larry Flowers seemed much more reckless and violent than Reyna. I remember Larry always up-ending kickoff returners before they even really got started (which is much harder than on a punt return).
I also considered Galbreath the pre-Meggett. Much less explosive, but the same type of 3rd down back.
Tape I made (old patch job from various Beta tapes of '85 games I had) had highlights by player. Even Rob Carpenter had a few moments in '85...like his big run against the Steelers in the regular season finale.
you had the ex-Raider Kenny Hill walking off the field after a special teams play just punching Redskins in the face as he is walking to the bench. He later got kicked out of the game, but not before LT came to his defense, and launched some Redskins off his feet.

really should do a History of the Giants tape from scratch again. The last two just seem like cut and paste jobs. They also could do a better job of focusing on key seasons and players from the 1920s-early 1960s.

Yes, Flowers was much more wreckless. My seats are right behind the visitors bench. I remember flowers running down the field punching and kicking the guys who were trying to stop him. He still made the tackle. The opposing player came to the sideline and I could clearly hear him say to the coach (about Larry) "He is fucking crazy".
Galbreath was an excellent third down back as you say and very reliable. Not going to break one but made just enough yards for a first down every time.
I really wish I could find some film on Troy Archer. He was supposed to be the one of the best players in the league until it all ended so suddenly.
Anyway, the common element that many of those players from the 80s had was a high football IQ and a strong concept of "team". Just think about all of the SMART football players we had.
still have my copy of the '90 bears and 49ers playoff games, ELP, who knew 1 tape could hold 6 hrs of footage. The only thing I don't like about video's that are made. They don't finish the story. Whenever they do something on the last 2 super bowls, you would think the games ended on the Plax TD and the Bradshaw TD. The most heart pounding play in 42 was the 3rd down deep pass to Moss that Webster just tipped. After the 4th and 16 in 46 I was stunned, like is this really going to happen. The highlights don't even show the hail mary pass into the endzone.

Wow eric, you revived my memory..esp that game at the vet. I remember LT being so pissed and throwing his helmet it was bogus. I believe that was an OK win for giants. Remember herm Edwards picking one off for a td. I was so pissed myself..just by the one whom did it..1978
In 1981, at 10 years old my family got season tickets. That was my first real year of watching football religiously which coincided with LT's rookie year and the return to the playoffs.
Jim Files on YouTube has the video yearbooks of the '69 and '70 seasons...narrated by the now late and always great Frank Gifford. Took me back when I saw them.
I still have my VHS of the 75th anniversary if that's the one you're talking about. I have a digital capture device that I need to learn to use to digitalize it, along with the entire '86 season taped ELP also on VHS including pre and post game commentaries.
It's been so disheartening to come on the forum of late and read some of the comments. But, I will laugh, cry, live and die by the Giants
Thought the comments at the end were funny- about the current state of the Giants LBs that year. We would sell our soul for that list of LBs today. Link - ( New Window )

Yeah, I saw the '70 Jim Files tape on YouTube...that was really cool. Gifford narrated all of the tapes up until the last one. Not sure who they will have do them now.

Oh. Thanks.
Larry would make a great adviser.

Yes..Not sure if it was congenital or not
