Seems to be a similar type of player, though he's probably about where Donnell was two years ago, after his season on the practice squad.
The other tight end will have to block, because those two guys haven't shown that they can. So it's Robinson vs. Fells vs. the waiver wire for the third spot.
says just how not great the TE position is for us right now. Robinson couldn't beat out Mrosko (1990) let alone TE's today who are athletic and skilled. He seems like an OLine but without the true blocking skills. Robinson has been a complete waste of a draft pick.
except Raanan believes it's going to be Cunningham v. Robinson for the last spot, with the writer believing Robinson is perceived to be the better blocker of the two.
With his build and motivation, I find it difficult to believe Cunningham can not make himself a more than adequate blocker, bwdik.
Quote:
The Giants have Larry Donnell as their pretty clear-cut first-team tight end. Veteran Daniel Fells serves as the blocking tight end. Cunningham and 2012 fourth-round draft pick Adrien Robinson round out the group....
It looks as if it's Cunningham vs. Robinson for the third tight end spot on the roster....
Cunningham is 24 years old with a Herculean build and athleticism that puts Robinson to shame. It would almost be surprising at this point if Cunningham doesn't find his way onto the final roster.
athleticism that puts Robinson, the JPP of TEs, to shame??? Say it ain't so. This is a beat reporter saying this, not a BBI poster with an axe of frustration to grind vs. Reese. When I see Robinson in game action, I see a player moving ghost like, w/o intensity, w/o smooth coordination, w/o explosion. He's done nothing for three years and now into his 4th; please join Brewer and Kuhn, exit stage left. Give the new kid a chance to make a contribution. And how does Reese come up with these quotes, let alone these players?

And will get significant playing time from the start. I like Donnell but this guy is going to eat into his playing time and could get more PT and eventually become the starter.
For the last spot its Robinson or Fells. The better blocker sticks but will remain on the fence because I can see them finding a TE after the cuts.
I thought he'd be a deep threat, I really did, but he's shown nothing. If he makes the final roster it is only because they don't see much else in Fells at 32.
I think Fells HAS TO get the nod cause he can likely still at least block and still catch that short seem pass with his height and experience. Cunningham may be a game-day inactive to start the season.
if robinson makes it over him thats a serious issue
he's blocking worse then ever, he just looks like he doesn't even want to play football. Jerry Reese has to let one of his young horses go, he just doesn't have it. If he turns into a hall of fame player this year eat my keyboard.
I've been rotting for the JPP of TEs for 3, 4 years now but he's shown nothing. I'm my eyes , he would have to have a HUGE game today to make the final 53.
Donnell and Fells should pretty much be locks so I think Cunningham just needs to continue his good preseason to bump AR off the roster.
However:
@JordanRaanan: In my eyes, no doubt. JC has ability to get deep down middle of field.
