Steve Weatherford Appreciation Thread

He was our secret weapon for a number of years and had as much to do with our 2011 Super Bowl season as anyone else on the team. You will always be a New York Giants and good luck Steve!

and he's yet another of the great NYG punters that played a huge part in a super bowl title. Steve sits at the round table with Sean and Jeff. And he's more than worthy.

I think the lasting image of the 2011 title team is Steve running off the field in San Fran. When I think of that season I think of that shot. And what a great hold from Steve! Truly a championship moment right there.
He should easily be able to get a media gig if there's no P job left

for him in the NFL.

He had a good run here. Shame it ended a bit earlier than probably expected.

Don't forget Dave Jennings too.

Thanks for everything, Steve. You will be remembered amongst the Giant heroes for a long time.

A punter who was really a football player too.

For giving us a stable punting effort after the Matt Dodge fiasco.

You were one of the best, right up there with Landeta and Jennings.

Best of luck to you and yours.
Loved that dude

Thanks

Steve for all you brought to the Giants, both on and off the field, especially in the community and your charitable work. You were a great Giant, and your punting was directly responsible for us winning Super Bowl 46. I agree that you were one of the greatest Giants punters ever, as good as Landeta and Jennings. Best wishes, and you will always be a Giant.
Damn. Sucks.
Johnny5 : 9/4/2015 1:11 pm : link
This is always the time that the business side of Football sucks... a necessary evil.

Not only was he a great punter for us, but what an amazing individual. I am in awe of how absolutely AMAZING he was to the kids and parents around here after the Sandy Hook incident. Really a heartfelt, helping hand kind of guy. Good luck always in your future endeavors Mr. Weatherford.
I agree
EagleFanDan : 9/4/2015 1:12 pm : link
I don't think the Giants win SB46 without him. They definitely don't get the safety to start the game without his awesome punt to the 6 yard line.
Thanks Steve, we love you, man ...
Manny in CA : 9/4/2015 1:13 pm : link
You are one tough SOB, a lot more than just a punter - a football player in every sense !
Excellent punter, the best in the Coughlin era IMO...
sb from NYT Forum : 9/4/2015 1:15 pm : link
...also an excellent holder. A real weapon on ST. A pro's pro. Thanks Steve for leaving it all on the field. Best of luck.
Love the Steve

Good luck!

Nothing on his Twitter page last I checked. I doubt he saw this coming. He was always really involved media wise

You've left me with some great memories of your time spent with the Giants, one of the top being the Super Bowl year.

Wish you the best!
He has to be absolutely crushed
antdog24 : 9/4/2015 2:43 pm : link
the guy loved the Giants organization more than me. He was an employee and a fan. His social media silence is deafening.
Weatherford's best play as a NYG
dpinzow : 9/4/2015 3:14 pm : link
was corralling that poor snap from DeOssie in San Francisco and holding it perfectly for Tynes on that FG that got us to SB 46.

And he was a pretty good punter for three years (he tailed off a little but last year). His punting in the 2011 playoffs gave us an advantage too
We thank you,Steve

A Giants career that I'll look back at fondly. He was a good punter for us and an even better teammate. I loved how he got involved in the Beckham sideline brawl last year and kept Odell from potentially doing something really stupid. I don't think there are many punters who throw themselves into the fire like that, but Steve clearly did not have a typical punters mindset.

He has a great career in broadcasting in front of him if he wants it. Good luck.

You were a great Giant and your punting in 2011 is one of the reasons why that championship was won.
I hope you get picked up,if you do so desire
Thanks for

He was the real deal. The great punt vs New England in SB 46 gave us two points square off. We will definitely notice him not being here.
