Maybe it's just me but I REALLY like the schedule for the rest of the season and can easily see this team losing only 1 or 2 games the rest of the season if the team can stay somewhat healthy. After the Bills game this Sunday, the only other team that I really don't see the team as having a chance of winning would be NE (and that's at home and so I can see us possibly beating them as well).
But look at the rest of the schedule and pick out a team after NE that 'scares' you?
S.F.? - they travel cross country and are not the same team they were a few years ago or even last year.
Phi.? - only if they get their act together offensively.
Dal.? - I can see us beating them at home, especially without Romo and Dez.
@N.O. and @TB? - yeah right. Both team will be picking high in next years draft and the Saints home-field hasn't been an advantage in years.
The four game stretch of Jets, @Mia, Carolina and @Minny are all very winnable games with the Jets and Miami games most likely being the toughest.
I don't know guys... I see no more than two more losses likely and would be pretty surprised if it's more than three. That would give us an 11-5 record and that should be good enough for at least a wild card spot... if not the division title.
Even during the two heartbreaking losses I was at least happy that the team was WINNING both games going into the 4th quarter and it took the Giants giving the games away in order for both teams to come back and beat them. This team will continue to improve over the course of the season as we get players back (not just Cruz but guys like OO, Flowers and Beatty)... guys get more and more comfortable with the defensive system... and the team as a whole begins to gel. I'm beginning to get very excited about this season... again, provided we have good health.
I hear ya Moon and that exact thought crossed my mind while I was typing that post. It's only a three game sample though but it appears to me that this team is getting better and better each week and I'm hoping that they continue to keep improving and not take any major steps back. But I'm in complete agreement with you that it'd be just like this team to lose to both N.O. and Tampa somehow.
Yesterday's win, while fun and encouraging, has done absolutely nothing to prove that trend is going to end.
LOL! How can you like my entire post but think the first sentence was 'insane'? What's insane about it? That the team may only lose two or three more games the rest of the season? Yeah... kind of hard to believe right now... and maybe not even all that likely... but I don't think it's impossible to even consider.
Yesterday's win, while fun and encouraging, has done absolutely nothing to prove that trend is going to end.
Well then it appears you actually DON'T agree with my entire post.
We'll see. I know this post is gonna make a lot of eyes roll... but I'm really starting to like the look of this team and if we can somehow generate more of a pass rush, I really like our chances.
I still think they'll be 3-3 after 6, but they're going to have to beat a team I didn't expect(maybe Philly or Buffalo?)and they lost to a team I didn't expect(I had Atlanta as a win).
You just never know...
But this is insane, I'm sorry:
I purposely didn't include your qualifier about staying healthy because that goes for every team. There is absolutely no way the Giants only lose 2 games the rest of the season. To suggest that is worth calling you out on. Sorry.
This is partly why the only team, besides NE, that really worries me would be the Eagles if they get their act together. Other than that, there are few teams on the schedule who's QB is THAT much better than the won we just faced last night.
We'll see. Brees is getting beat up and their D is worse than ours by a good bit. Playing down there is no longer a reason to fear that team.
Hey beatrixkiddo! I'm doing great! Especially since I was able to get some sleep because my wife's sister watched the baby last night for us (first time without him in two months). I think Route 9 has been doing a great job with the Playa's Only thread so far but if he doesn't mind... and I can start finding the time... maybe I'll start back again next week. Good to hear from you buddy!

Ok. You disagree. That's cool. I don't feel like you've 'called me out' on anything. You disagree... we'll see. It's not that serious. lol
Good? Eh... probably not.
Improving and getting better? I believe so.

Hold on, so we're probably not good (though improving), yet there's no reason we can't go 13-3 or 12-4?
Again... you're looking at the team as it stands RIGHT NOW. I'm looking at a team that I believe will improve and get better as it gels and, more importantly, as critical players return (like Cruz, Beatty, Flowers and maybe JPP). I've been here long enough to know how these type of posts get received and because of that I thought about not even wasting my time. But for one of the few times this season it's a slow day for me here and while looking over the rest of the schedule I really started thinking to myself 'Hmmm... we could have ourselves a nice lil season here if we continue improving like we seem to do...'.

Yeah... pretty much.
Love the Pulp Fiction references on this board today.
They play a lot of bad teams with bad QB's and don't have a lot of travel. Shoot, they even got a break this week by being home on a short week where they were beat up a little bit. Now you face the Bills(short trip)and have extra days to get healthy.
The big picture is the Giants are playing hard and are possibly getting a little healthy(DRC, maybe Flowers/Cruz back). The division also sucks(and the Cowboys are dropping like flies).
Anything can happen.

Thank you okie! I could be... matter of fact, I probably AM... 100% wrong about my optimism. I can admit that. It was hard for me to type what I typed above because I'm rarely the type to look ahead and do believe in the 'one game at a time' mantra. But I can't help but look at the rest of the schedule and think that things actually look to be setting up for the team very nicely over the next few months. I mean... even the Bye is in a great spot as we play NE at home... have the Bye... then take the train to Wash....and then have a home game against the Jets. We then travel to Miami in late Nov./early Dec (always good for a team who's built to pass) and then go to Minny (probably the toughest road game of the year after the Bills game).
I just really like how this schedule it looking so far. I know it's not popular to think positively about this team lately... but I do.

These are the NY Football Giants we're talking about so I can't go ALL the way out on that ledge with ya, but yes, yes, yes, I need to believe that this O will gel, and that Spags will have the D playing to the football. I hate the zone crap, but if we stay (and get more) healthy ...
I'M IN!!!
(Hope all is well in Bone-Land.)
Tampa Bay just went down there and won.
Tampa. Bay.
Actually... it's look at 1 win against a shit team... and two losses to pretty good teams that we GAVE away... that's got me excited. I wouldn't be feeling this way if we hadn't given away those two games.
EXACTLY!
Why noone wants to see this is, while not suprising, kind of weird.

Good post. I am very much in agreement as long as our health stays good. I could see this team getting in a groove. We could easily be 3-0 right now.

Lol, that game last night put somebody's morale thru the roof.
Hey RC! Don't know I'd say I'm 'back' as much as I just have bit of time on a Friday afternoon and I missed you guys. He's doing great and just got his two month old shots on Wednesday and handled all three of them like a CHAMP! I was so proud of him. He only cried during the shots but within a minute after they were done he stopped crying and hasn't cried since. AND, he seems to be sleeping a bit better as well (he's up to about 4 hours at a time now!). Thanks for asking playa!
Shit.
5-11 here we come.

and welcome back, buddy. How's the little one treating you? Hope you and your wife are getting enough sleep these days...:)

Well, don't stay away too long, man. While Route has been trying to fill your shoes with the Playa's Only Thread with some gusto, you're still the champ.
And I am so happy that you are gliding smoothly into fatherhood, old man! You and your wife deserve all the happiness that your little boy brings you. Enjoy the weekend, man!

LOL! It wasn't just the game (although I knew that's how my thread was going to be perceived). Like I said, I was pretty confident that we'd possibly have a good team even after the two losses because we were winning by double digits in both games going into the 4th quarter and it took us giving the game away (particular the Dallas game... where so many things had to go their way in order for them to pull out that win) in order for us to lose.
I knew I was putting myself out there with this thread and it was going to get some of the responses it's gotten so far. But I don't care! I'm really liking this team and am excited to see where it goes.
*fingers crossed*

Thank you sir! You too!
Chillin dork. How YOU doin? Are those bells ringing I hear in the near future?
This isn't the Saints of years ago. They're not very good on defense and their offense has issues across the board.
the wild card is health. right now it looks like we are getting cruz and DRC back, beason will have another week of practice under his belt to shake off the rust, and hopefully flowers can get back into action.
starting with next week - buffalo has a typical rex team - hard nosed attacking defense with a running focused attack. but their QB is tyrod taylor. not exctly jim Kelly during his prime.
I said it before the season and hold to it still. The Giants should win 9-10 games. That should be enough to contend for the division.
HOLY SH--!!!! Congrats family!!!!
Thanks Victor! Good to hear from ya buddy!
Sure... there's enough to go around for anyone who wants to partake!
Just improve each week and hopefully they can a few more games before seasons end.
I do think our schedule is light, especially with Romo out in our next meeting - but recall that a far superior Giants team lost to Dallas with Jon Kitna starting in 2010.
I think there's a lot of mediocrity in the league and particularly on our schedule. With the better QB in most of these match ups, the Giants should come out ahead in some of them. A lot of coin flip games. But this roster just isn't that good for me to think going 11-2 from here is possible. I'd take the under on ten wins. I don't think the Eagles are going to continue being this bad, either.
Even with strong rosters, TC's Giants have had a few clunkers each season.
Letting Children Watch - ( New Window )
There really are some miserable people. I will never tell anyone how to be a fan, but some people can't seem to find anything positive.
I couldn't function this way, but to each his own.
so yes, we could only lose 2 or 3 more games, but more likely will finish with 6-8 losses.
