I stumbled across the YouTube video of Michael Strahan's Hall of Fame speech (my DVR cut off and I had only seen part of it). This started me thinking what jobs Peyton and Eli might have after they finally hang up the cleats.
Among the possibilities (some of these weren't their first jobs):
1) NFL Game Color Commentator (e.g. Phil Simms)
2) NFL Pre/Post Game Studio Show (e.g. (Bradshaw)
3) College Head Coach (e.g. Jim Harbaugh)
4) College QB Coach or Offensive Coordinator
5) NFL QB Coach or Offensive Coordinator
6) Manning Academy Full Time
7) Non Sports Entertainment / News Personality (e.g. Michael Strahan)
8) Hanging At Home Only Occasional Commercials (e.g. Favre)
9) ______________ ???
10) _____________ ???
I didn't list NFL Head Coach as a first job as I don't think it's realistic.
My guess is that Eli, with at least 3 young girls at home whenever he retires, wouldn't get into coaching. I see Eli taking the NFL Color Commentator role.
Peyton seems more driven. I'm not sure he would be challenged by a color commentator or studio job. After taking a year or so off, I could see Peyton getting into coaching, probably starting off in college.
Again, pure speculation driven by the amazing post football career(s) Michael Strahan has.
I honestly think Eli just kind of goes away.
Eli stays fairly independent and focuses on family and the Manning Academy.
Peyton enjoys the bright lights more than Eli does. He joins the broadcasting world in some capacity.
I think they'll both continue to do commercials. I could be totally wrong but they seem to enjoy doing these.
seriously I don't waste time reading any of Eli's interviews. He give vanilla (as in basic) a bad name..
Eli could move to commentator. I can see that. I'm sure he's holding back when he speaks to reporters now to tow the company line. He'd be freed up to give his opinion as a commentator. I don't think he goes that route right away though. I think Eli will ride off into the sunset and relax for several years. He will still have the Manning passing academy, endorsements, lecture circuit, etc. Eventually he will get back into football somehow. Commentator seems about right.
Does that work for everyone?
Eli will probably just run the Manning Academy and do philanthropy... he will probably introduce Peyton at Peytons Gold Jacket ceremony and wait for his own...
Peyton, he can do anything honestly. Would be excellent replacement for Simms, or he could go the way of coaching. Who knows.

I agree - if one of the two goes into broadcasting - it will be Payton. I don't see Eli pursuing (or enjoying) a job like That.
It is not like he is going to need the money .... he seems to live a low key type of lifestyle. I bet he has all the money he will ever need - already. I can see him pulling a "Johnny Carson" and disappear.
Peyton as oft-stated will be a color guy, but I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a shot at OC..
You might be right ... but, that doesn't mean Simms will be out of a job. There is more than 1 game a week .... ; )

Yeah I agree. I think Eli will do charity work, commercials and endorsements, but I tend to believe he will shy away from any kind of actual network NFL stuff
I believe the Inside the NFL show is filmed in the NY/NJ area. Right now the show is awful and if I were Eli I wouldn't get within 20 miles of the show, but by the time he retires (4 to 5 years from now?) maybe there will be a better host (Adam Schein is terrible) and better ex-players (Boomer, Brandon Marshall and crack wagon Michael Irvin are really bad too). As others have said, it seems Eli would be comfortable simply with the Manning Academy, commercials and charity work.
Peyton seems as if he'd get "ants in his pants" just doing Manning Academy and commercials. While I think he'd do very well as an NFL color analyst, I'd bet he gets some kind of NFL gig after a year or so. I wonder if he'd be able to go straight to an OC role, or would he more likely be a QB coach first?
This one gets my vote.
Peyton would be a rookie compared to Simms.
You know how long it took Simms and Collinsworth to get where they're at now?
Book it..

As soon as the ink dries on Peyton's retirement papers, he's a lock to join Nance in the booth, in my opinion.

I kinda agree...but Peyton is pretty polished in his communication skills. Still, it would be a risk......doing an entire NFL game is not easy. Talking for 10 minutes is much easier.
I remember Simms sitting in on ESPN NFL Prime Time and taking viewers thru certain game highlights during the playoffs....he really did start off at the bottom and worked his way up.
