Try the ExOfficio - all the super hype nonsense aside ("The official underwear of MI5"), it's extremely comfortable and holds up to washing well. It retains practically no moisture and it fits like a glove. They ain't cheap - about 3x the price of your Hanes - but you're not going to go through them quickly so they're worth the investment.
They are the best most comfortable underwear ever. Great for working out in too. Have to get the micro mesh ones though. The "under armour" type do not breathe.
I switched from standard Hanes cotton whitey tighties to poly/spandex...just wish I'd done it earlier. The moisture wicking is wonderful, Will never go back.

Second that vote for Ex Officio. Got great reviews on Amazon, tried them and am hooked, even at $18/pair. Love them for running.
