I hate watching close games, it's too hard on the heart. Three points ahead in the fourth quarter and my blood pressure soars. I would prefer a dominant lead or a painful lack of points.
As always, I'm rooting for a win. I never give up on my team. I think this week's game is a toss up but if the Giants bring their A game and don't screw up the fourth quarter we win 27 to 17.
What do you think?
Or, you could do what I did during the high-tension parts of TV shows when I was six: run out of the room, and peek around the corner of the TV.
and have your friends fill you in on how the game ended when you exit the bathroom...
He had a big fancy "easy chair" which he would surround with all the "goodies" that he would gobble up during the game, but 30 minutes before he'd go into his "warm-up" to get ready.
He'd do a series of pre-game stretches and "jumping jacks".
Maybe that might help you out (grin).
Sometimes it is a relief when the opponent takes the lead for a while. Then, I can go pee to change their luck back to good.
When they get a big lead I get sick..cause I don't believe they will hold it.
When they lose like they did to Dallas and Falcons I get sick....sick with disbelief.
And one of the worst was the meaningless Jaquar game last year. The first half dominance was so pervasive and persuasive that there was no way we could lose.
I've given up all sports and sometimes wish I could give up on the Giants too. The sport itself has become unattractive...too complicated to pretend I know what's happening, the athletes too big and strong to pretend I could ever go against them, the injuries too influenctial in the short term and too pervasive in the long term so we have to wonder if we're Romans watching gladiators kill themeselves for our amusement...still I come back like an alcoholic to his hidden bottle of gin, like the druggy to his stash.
'McQuarters' fumble that Hixon somehow recovered is a moment that I still don't fully accept happened.
Hockey is worst cause the most important thing can happen at any time. Constant vigilance.
