Giants never announced JPP would return in six weeks

That's misleading and a bit disingenuous. They let it be known JPP would return in six weeks for a second round of exams, which would be in roughly two weeks from now.

reports say he lost about 40-50 lbs.

I don't believe it (his return date).

If the folks above (who mentioned a mal-practice suit) have a legit concern ... I wouldn't let him in the stadium if I were the Giants.

If you aren't going to rescind the tag you have no choice but to let him in and sign the tender. You can then nfi him if you think he can't play and go through the grievance process if it happens.

Giants have not rescinded the tag. They will let him in and they will let him play if they think he is capable.

Unbelievable ... all this because of 4th of July fireworks. I can't believe it came to this (can't believe the whole thing happened - first of all) .... I am NOT pissed at JPP but, it might be wise for the Giants to just let him go. Even if we were on some kind of run to the SB (we are not) ... he rendered him self useless. It is a shame - for both sides.
Why are people still saying to let him go?

And I don't see what's confusing about this situation.

The situation is fucked, both sides are dealing with it, but long term, all both sides want is for him to be productive on the field ASAP.

Giants saw his hand, weren't very pleased, said come back in mid October for an exam. He's coming back a little early for an exam than planned. I'd think this is a good thing as compared to the status quo.

I don't see where the contract manuveuring is other than JPP wanting to play sooner than the Giants do, because the team wants him to be somewhat worth his salary (considering they can roll the space over).

so this is pretty much just an issue of when both sides will agree JPP can play. I'm sure there's something the Giants could do to make JPP assume risk to protect themselves from culpability if they['re that worried about that whole aspect, but I doubt it will come to that.

I have no idea when he'll come back. My random guess is that if the team still refuses to play him, they'll tell him to come back week 10.

We need a pass rush. We aren't paying him. It costs nothing to keep him around until the Giants feel like playing him (and paying him).

People seem to be making this way deeper than it is.

This is exactly what I said. Its not my fault if anyone if overreacting and misconstruing the words "report" and "return"
