NFT: Bianca Restaurant - (Bleecker Street) Closed

batman11 : 10/2/2015 11:16 pm
My wife and I discovered this tonight. The bartender at Vox, next door, told us it closed on Tuesday. He wasn't sure what happened, or if they are going to reopen in a new location. I know several BBIers loved the place, as we did. Ugh!!

I lived a few blocks away for ten years

Will ask around. It was open last Friday evening.
That sucks

was just talking to my wife about it the other day and that we should grab dinner there next trip into the city. I've probably been there 4 or 5 times when I lived in gramercy. Incredible food for unheard of prices.
yeah everybody raves about that place

and was on our list to try...hopefully not closed for good..
Unfortunately, once a landlord decides to conform

they begin to try and charge outrageous rent, or sell off the building to developers who put in steel structures and fill the street level space with chain brand names. The blocks in that area have avoided mostly, but rents are still moving higher in a rate few are able to continue to afford.

A tremendous Argentinian restaurant opened around the corner on Bowery late last year, and I think it's already gone. An absolute shame.
Dang - it's true

I liked that place - same people who used to run Celeste on the UWS, also a good and reasonably priced Italian joint.

Oh well...

We didn't see that notice last night, as the steel gate was pulled down. Hopefully, they will find a new location.
It's a trek, but if you were going for the food

their other spot, Celeste, is also pretty good. Same constraints (cash only, kinda tight, crowded).

We'll have to try Celeste when we are up in that neighborhood.
