NFT: Good thoughts for Rusty Staub

Headhunter : 10/3/2015 11:08 am
he had a heart attack on a flight to Ireland. The plane was diverted and he was taken to a hospital and the prognosis is good. I don't pray, but I can send wishes to a good guy.
Best wishes to Le Grand Orange

A great Met. I had the pleasure of meeting him in 1985; a friendly and funny man.
Love Rusty

Resting comfortable, prognosis is good. But seeing the news made me look up his career stats. His plate discipline was amazing. In 11229 plate appearances (9720 AB), he struck out only 888 times in his career. In 1975, for Detroit, which was the season where he finished 5th in the MVP voting and had his highest single season AB total (642), he struck out only 35 times. Very impressive.
For years he's done an incredible amount of fund-raising

out here in the Napa valley with wine auctions, etc. for his charity foundations.

He certainly deserves good thoughts.

In the early 80s. He use to come over to my table. Sit. Chat. Asking how food is. Great guy. Great Met. Quick recovery
