I usually read the Farmers Almanac predictions if only for kicks, and they're universally mocked for predicting that far out. Haven't ever seen anyone legit do something similar.
Weather man, can you tell me if it's going to rain on my Birthday next June? I want to plan a cookout, but will have to put up some sort of rain deflective something or other if its going to rain. Also, wind, i need to know if it will be windy and what type of clouds will be present. Thanks pal.
the CPC does make large scale predictions, but it's in regard to temp/pcp being above or below normal, and at ranges this far ahead it's not usually of all that much value. I would say that this winter is not expected to be as bad in the northeast as the last two, and the confidence I have there is due to the ongoing powerful El Nino event and the known circulatory changes in the atmosphere those tend to induce. The present forecast for this winter (DJF) period from the CPC are shown below:

Depending on what you eat the night before, it could get very windy, with noxious clouds and the possibility of some drool.
You want a prediction about the weather, you're asking the wrong Phil. I'll give you a winter prediction: It's gonna be cold, it's gonna be grey, and it's gonna last you for the rest of your life.

This is pitiful. A thousand people freezing their butts off waiting to worship a rat. What a hype. Groundhog Day used to mean something in this town. They used to pull the hog out, and they used to eat it. You're hypocrites, all of you!
