NFT: Yankees vs Orioles 10/3 Doubleheader

illmatic : 10/3/2015 1:16 pm
Down 2-0 in the bottom of the 4th right now. The Yankees are already 0-5 with RISP. I know these final games don't mean much at this point but I'd rather see them head into the wild card game being hot. Especially with the bats.

And I believe they need one more win or an Astros loss to lock up the game being in New York but I might be wrong about that.

It was 0-6 with RISP.
I am at the game 😉

Like 100 people here😉 Feels surreal. Can hear the pop of the glove. All kids playing today. Has tix for yesterday but rained out of course. Biggest bummer is missing the fireworks 😉 Would assume joe will put in regulars for night cap to get homefield since he probably doesn't want to make tomorrow do or die for homefield potentially.
Actually these games
nygnyy274 : 10/3/2015 1:47 pm : link
Do mean something , we need one win to get that game at Yankee stadium Tuesday night. Or a loss by the Astros today or tomorrow, either way wherever the game is played I don't like this Yankee teams chances especially against Houston and Dallas Keuchel even on short rest
I understand Joe is going nowhere, and he probably shouldn't...
Dunedin81 : 10/3/2015 1:56 pm : link
but the inability of most of this team to perform situational hitting is just infuriating. And there are folks in the bullpen who could really perform, like Nick Goody, who haven't had a fraction the opportunity that some shitty veterans have.

Whether Shreve is hurt or tired or what, I don't know. But this attempt to see if you can get him right in time for the postseason has clearly failed. Figure out if one of Pinder or Goody or Pazos can get it done as you get ready for the postseason.
7-0 O's

Hopefully they can get the second game. They can't play much worse in that one.

I hope to get Tanaka through 5 or ideally 6 and hand it right to Dellin and Miller.
yea we are almost definitely seeing Keuchel tuesday
Stu11 : 10/3/2015 2:10 pm : link
so either stadium is not good news the way we are swinging the bats. In fact the way Houston is hitting right now that game looks pretty damn tough right now.
Keuchel
GruningsOnTheHill : 10/3/2015 2:12 pm : link
Has it been announced that Keuchs will be pitching on short rest Tuesday? Isn't he like 15-0 at home but yet quite pedestrian on the road?

No clue why Houston allowed him to throw 99 pitches last night in a blowout knowing he was pitching on 3 days rest. Very odd.

Doesn't matter with the inconsistency of this yankee offense, back in August he pitched his best game on the road this season against the Yankees 7 shut out innings 9 strikeouts
Postseason baseball has become totally random.

Two of the biggest homers in baseball remarking on Foster's shitty strike zone, you know it's bad.

Absolutely terrible at bats lately
I don't understand Girardi anymore
blueblood'11 : 10/3/2015 3:39 pm : link
His moves at time are head scratching. Did he think the Orioles were just out there for shits and giggles with that lineup he put out there? Nova wasn't going pitch a shutout that's for sure. Why not put your best lineup out there and try to get the win. Secure the home playoff game.

All he did was put more pressure on his team by having a lineup where Chris young is your fucking cleanup hitter. Really!!!!! And you had to figure everytime Jose Pirela came to the plate there would be runners in scoring position and of course, he makes out.

Then with the game far from being out of reach he brings in a guy who for a month has been a horror show and for all intents and purposes hands the game over to the Orioles by bringing Shreve into the game. Not only have theYankees played poorly Joe Girardi has managed poorly as well.

Agreed Shreve needs to be moved on from, he's not a viable option this season. I think he'll be a good piece again next year - but he cannot be on the postseason roster and it wouldn't shock me if he is. That Machado swinging bunt was awful luck, and some weren't hard hit but he struggled far beyond those couple batters.

I think he's just gassed - he's pitched this many innings before in the minors - but 1st season in the bigs. Never so many high leverage, high stress innings in a playoff race. He has just totally lost his command, can't even though a strike lately - less erratic today but still only threw about 50% strikes.

If they win either tonight or tomorrow, they'll have the game in New York. If they lose both games and the Astros win both games, they're going to Houston.

Either one more win OR one Houston loss
With the Angels miraculous
DG : 10/3/2015 5:36 pm : link
win today, the Astros can still catch the Rangers with 2 wins against the D'backs and a Rangers loss tomorrow.

Which would (I think) mean a one game playoff for the AL West title Monday.
Well how about winning a fuckin game then?

Holy cunt hairs. Let's go!

The lineups Joe is throwing out
section125 : 10/3/2015 5:42 pm : link
there are neither resting for the starters nor putting sufficient talent on the field to win.

Kind of confusing what he is doing. Just win the effin game and then sit the starters.
I have defended Girardi all year
Stu11 : 10/3/2015 6:01 pm : link
and still say he has done a great not good job of managing this team to the play-in game with all the veteran restrictions and injuries. That having been said it surely has not been one of his better weeks to say the least...
Game 2 lineup is slightly more promising

This Team
PaulN : 10/3/2015 7:24 pm : link
To me looks to be a certain one and out. They are just not playing good ball. I can not say there is any starter that I am full of confidence in, you compare our top starters to the Cubs, the Pirates, the Dodgers, the Mets, the Jays even have Price, and they can hit also, I just do not see it at all.

Girardi has always been a well respected manager, and he has had a horrible month also. How he kept Drew in all this time and refused to bring up Refsnyder is just beyond words, and to be honest, I am not so certain that he will not keep Ryan in over Refsnyder even now. How they see Ryan or Drew as better defensive options is mind boggling, on what planet is Refsnyder's defense below par since he has been here.

The teams defense is terrible, Headly has become the new Knoblauch. I love McCann, he is a good hitter, clutch too, he calls a great game, he has a very good arm, but there are more pass balls this season then I can ever remember. I can go on and on, but there is no point, we are soon going to find out the results on the field.
can get on McCann especially in these conditions

I wouldn't be so sure about a one and done scenario. Sure, it's possible, but in baseball, anything can happen in one game. It's literally a 50/50 proposition at this point.

It's the ensuing round that isn't looking so good...
