Why did they feel compelled to score a TD instead of running the clock, kick the FG,and go up by 17 with little time left. This has happened before(Dallas anyone). I don't understand it. It is like everyone goes mentally retarded at the end of each game.
On the other hand, big win.
Really surprised and impressed by how much the Giants controlled the game today for the most part.
The defense is playing way over their talent level right now. Although todays performance was aided by the wounded competition, Spags has these guys generally looking competent this year. While i have major concerns about the sustainability of the play on that side of the ball, football can be weird and maybe Spags can find a way to mold this group into a formidable unit somehow without much of a pass rush.
I really like the look of our passing game and have since the start of last year. The 2nd half wasnt real pretty outside of the Jennings catch and run. But generally speaking, Eli is playing by far the best football of his career in this new system (save 2011). No matter what happens this year I would like to find a way to keep Macadoo around, because im a fan. Sick catch by ODB again even though he was out of bounds. The guy is unreal. Its becoming old hat, one day the dude is probably just gonna snatch one out of the air with his dick while keeping his feet in bounds and maintaining possession to the ground for a score. He may have even already done that on one of his youtube videos that make the rounds. Im so glad he wasnt hurt on that Jennings TD.
Its nice to see Reuben Randle out there healthy and making plays the last couple weeks. The numbers are getting small though at WR with Cruz's issues, at some point you have to sign a guy. I dont like going into these games with 4 active WR.
As a total aside (and this may sound weird to some) i really enjoyed the aesthetics of this game. The Giants road unis and Bills home unis are a nice combo together under that Buffalo sun. This division is totally up for grabs and its still frustrating that this team isnt 4-0 looking back, but theyre still sitting relatively pretty right now in the division (at least as well as anyone else). I loved seeing Washington pull that game out at the end against Philly. I didnt enter this season with any expectations, so anything they do is a pleasant surprise. Things are setting up pretty well.
Folks, we could be in first place by the end of the night!
We must hire Bill Parcells as clock management assistant to the HC. My goodness... this team refuses to accept a victory. TC has to do a much better job of corralling the QB & OC.
GREAT game by the o-line.
GREAT run defense and tackling by the entire team.
GREAT special teams coverage units & performance by Wing.
"Expert" said we should lose. Why complain about this and that? No Cruz, Donnell and Tye at TE, no Ayers and only 4 WRs and we win by 2 TDs!!! Yeah, we weren't perfect but considering all the key players missing, IMO a great win.
were again in danger of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Couldn't cover Clay. At all. How can you let that guy kill you all day? When we were deep in our own territory, we predictably ran the ball into the LOS. No pressure, except from Whitlock at the end. Terrible clock management, with Eli letting the play clock go down to one, and getting two delay of games on other occasions. Absolutely no idea what we were doing up by fourteen and throwing the ball from inside the Buffalo ten. A FG wins the game. That's when you do run into the LOS. ST were poor. Not a good day for Brown.
OL was great. Aside from not getting any pressure, the DL was very stout against the run. Kennard was incredible. Hope he's OK with the hamstring. Prince had another great game. Collins with some big hits. Harris was good in the slot. Aside from the pick, Eli was good. Tough running by Jennings and Williams.
This game would have been a lot closer but for the seventeen Buffalo penalties.
Is a tough place to play and so winning by14 I should be happy. But the stupid decisions at the end are just bizarre. Three scores with 330 left is basically the ball game. Don't call a slant in tight quarters

Agreed about the defense playing above its talent level but there is some talent on the defense. Prince and DRC is an excellent corner tandem, and it appears that Meriweather and Collins have some chemistry in the defensive backfield. They also throw some lumber which helps. Kennard is just about a star LB, and the Beason/Unga pair at MLB is serviceable. The biggest problem with the defense is still lack of a pass rush. However, the DL as constructed is very stout against the run. Maybe O2 can develop into a pass rusher
is doing a great job with the D but the lack of a pass rush is a huge concern.
lack of pass rush a problem, but this is getting better. certain guys have to step up, Wynn has been great against the run really hoping he can put it all together and start generating pass rush
to me, from the only camera angle shown, it appeared the receiver hit the ground, oob, as Kennard was wresting possession, and as he secured the ball, looked like the left side of Kennard's body (toward the bench) landed on the sideline marker. Yet whether the "catch" was ruled in bounds seemed never to be part of the discussion in the broadcast booth or the official's review.
Was I alone in thinking the entire play might (should?) have been ruled an incomplete pass?
Everyone involved with this team's offense needs to raise
The Bills played an ugly and undisciplined game. The Giants played a very solid first half. Their offense just dropped off in the second half to make it look closer than it really was.

But the 17 Buffalo penalties are due to their coaching. Rex is not exactly known for fielding disciplined football teams
I've said it before, but he needs to be the starter and get more consistent carries. There's too much shuffling in and out of the 3 RBs. Let him get into a flow. He's had some very nice carries this year, only to be replaced right after one. Eli did a great job of changing plays at the line today and lining up protection too.

This! They were prepared and came to play and stood up to a bully and punched the bully in the mouth. Great team win!
is doing a great job with the D but the lack of a pass rush is a huge concern.
While the pass rush is obviously pretty poor, most of the game it looked like the ends were keeping contain on the QB. I reckon they thought if they kept Taylor in the pocket they fancied their CB's to cover the WR's with Watkins out. We got a tad more pressure when we turned it loose in the last drive.
We were pretty disciplined on defense today which is what you need against a running team with an option QB.
the kid is playing the run at a Pro Bowl level. Plays with leverage, strength, guts. Agree with all the comments on end-of-game clock management. And offensive line played great against that front.
Beckam didn't fight back and make it offseting penalties

But the players still have to play. Very happy about our defense, and very content with offense against a very good defense. Yes, the int at the end was foolish, but hopefully never again.
If we can add another good safety in the off-season, safety will be a big strength. I've always thought that the importance of that position was underrated. Good safeties help in so many ways.
are living in the past. In the new NFL, a 17 point lead with 5 minutes to go is by no means safe. You keep trying to score td's.
Bullshit. Against Tyrod freaking Taylor, a three-score lead ends it a thousand times out of a thousand. It was a boneheaded decision. Water under the bridge now though.

I'm with you on this one - in that spot you run it and kick the FG if you don't convert. But overall, I like the Giants being aggressive in their play calling
Part of the problem was they haven't been aggressive enough in the waning minutes of games. The call wasn't bad, the execution left a bit to be desired, though.
Good all around win, if we exited healthy it's a great week.
I realize some parts were frustrating, but there's way too much rage over. A win is a win for this team. Hopefully they keep scraping together enough of them, no matter how many mental fuck-ups, to still be alive come December in this shitty division.
It helped last week. This week Eli should have not thrown that ball. People will bitch no matter what. I see a 2-2 team that is playing decently and has a chance to get some wins moving forward against mediocre teams. They are probably better than every team they play before the bye other than NE.
We came into this game with the WORST pass D in the league. I get that we had to play zone most of the day to keep Taylor honest but it's really hard to watch the opponents WR's making so many uncontested catches with no defender in the picture. Really happy with our run defense to this point though so that's a good thing.

At this point I am Ok with the focus on stopping the run. Force the opposing QB to beat you. More often than not you win those games. I expect pass D to improve as they figure out a way to get pressure on the QB

Um, and sit Jennings and Vereen?
No, but he needs to get into a flow. There's too much shuffling. He's the type of runner that needs to get more carries to be effective. Kind of like Jacobs. He's a guy that can wear down defenses. Sprinkle in Vereen and Jennings and in the second half you can then hit them with a more shifty runner like Vereen.
First and most importantly, other than third down the fans were taken out of the game by half time. That was huge because I've been to game across the country and Buffalo a few times but this place was LOUD.
Fans were pissed at the refs. From my pov most of the penalties looked legit. But the penalties on Buffalo changed the game.
Finally...Bills fans have gotten a bad rap lately but they were fun and gracious. No one gave us any crap. My gf and I cheered but not obnoxiously which I'm sure helped. By the end you could hear the "Let's go Giants" cheer. It was fun.

I'm not so sure I agree. Of the three, I'd rather see Vereen get the bulk of the snaps.
Williams is great if you like watching blooper videos of people running into walls.

In general, I think you are right. But in this particular instance, you are 100% wrong. Do the math. With a Giants FG, Buff needs 3 scores, which would mean recovering two onside kicks. Virtually impossible.
Wasn't it Jennings who had the long TD run to salt the game away? I kind of like the 3 headed monster approach. Never know who'll have the big play for you.

the Giants weren't supposed to win this game - Buffalo is a good team and the Giants made them look as bad as New England did
If you think about it - they made a pretty good Washington team look bad too - and they nearly won two other games they were supposed to lose - Games 1 & 2

You should pay more attention. This narrative that Williams runs into walls, and it is his fault, is comical. And couldn't be further from the truth. But why let that get in the way of a good rant?

Yeah, during the offseason and pre-season there were posters saying he was worthless, a waste, etc. I don't know what they had been watching last year. He didn't light it up, but I though he showed some good things and a lot of promise.
Throwing the ball at the end was inexplicable. Of course you run the ball there, every down, to protect the lead, to run the clock down, maybe force some time outs, rest the defense and protect Eli and OBJ. Three scores is the ball game. Where are we if Eli or OBJ get hurt on the INT? Its mind boggling stupid to throw in that situation.
I'm happy for the win. But once again we have to wonder what the heck is going on with the offense and coaches.
Having said all that, great to see this defense under Spags. Kinard making plays, Whitlock the Tasmanian Devil getting into the game, all around solid play by a defense that really didn't get enough help from the offense.
We beat a damn good football team in their home too......
Lots of positive to take from this game. First of all, we actually beat a winning team and a very good defense. When was the last time we could say that? It looks like the arrow is pointed up, but obviously there's still things to clean up too. We are still having problems covering TEs, very concerning and of course the lack of a pass rush. On offense, we got the most out of Donnell today, but his blocking is still horrendous. The running game was effective enough, but still very inconsistent. Passing game got good contributions from all receivers and the oline did a hell of a job against a very stout defensive front. Specials were sloppy and thankfully, the missed extra point did not come back to haunt us. Overall, I thought it was a very good game and hopefully the team continues to rise and not read their clippings.
If the eagles are really as poor as they have looked
The Giants remaining schedule is piss poor this year. Just look at the QBs we are facing from here on out. There is Brady, there is Cam, and there isnt much else. We may or may not see Drew Brees later on this year, but either way the Saints look bad even with him, dropping home games to the Bucs.
won. Great job by the D. Big time plays at the goalline and the rest of the fourth quarter. Hopefully, the O can get the knockout punch more often like they did today. Maybe a little earlier next time.

Oh, it could be quite a bit further from the truth I think.
that Williams gets his share of carries. his ypc is much lower than it should be, because they give him the rock when it's grind out the clock time and they stuff the run.
I thought he had the majority of carries, but google showed that Jennings had a few more.
I'm not particularly impressed with Jennings so far this year. He's a contributor, but he hasn't exactly been a force.

Yeah I think he was better last year and our offensive line was worse last year.

You're right, it was a pass, not a run, but that just supports my point even more. Williams doesn't have very good hands. Jennings and Vereen do.
True, but the point is it's about improving our running game and not the passing game. I just think AWill gives us that much needed power running game, wearing down the D. I'm not saying we should ignore the other two backs, just that Williams needs more carries to get into a flow.
Still work to do but this team is exactly where any of us could have hoped. They are physical they don't quit and they are in every game. Last two weeks their hard work is manifesting into wins. Fuck yes just keep it up. Keep improving.
I think the idea of a back wearing down the defense is overstated. I just think they are very few who can actually do that, and that it's generally the offensive linemen who wear the defense down over several positive rushing attempts. Aside from laying an occasional lick on a defender or two, I think the best thing an RB can do to wear down a whole defensive unit is to consistently gain enough yards to force them to pursue him after already trying to fight through a block.
Can Williams do that? Maybe, but it remains to be seen.
This team lacks speed and explosion at the running back position. I think Darkwa hits the hole with speed and this line is having some success opening some holes but the close and shift quickly. I think Oleans could have some success behind this line.
1) This was a really good win. The Bills are a great team with a good defense, an athletic QB who can manage games and make enough plays when he has to, and a great DL.
2) We need a pass rush. It is the missing element from the defense. If JPP can give us ANYTHING, it would be tremendously useful.
3) I think Prince has played great this year so far.
4) This team could easily be 4-0, and SHOULD be at least 3-1. They need to get in the playoffs, but if they do, they can go on a run.
5) We need Cruz, and if they are even 50/50 about Cruz coming back (which I assume they are), Welker needs to be signed ASAP. I don't get the hesitation. It's not like it would hurt to have them both. Sign Welker, cover your ass, and if Cruz comes back, treat it as a bonus. McAdoo says all the WRs learn all their positions. The skill set may be redundant between Cruz and Welker, but we don't know what Cruz will even look like when he comes back, and it can't hurt to have both. Welker will be like a Beason for the offense in terms of impact.
6) It's incredible to see Eli on pace for 4 INTs on the year. To be fair (or unfair, I guess), I did expect him to be on pace for more than 28 TDs. I expect him to still end up with TDs in the 30s.
7) I like this team. I think they can make a run if they get hot and reinforcements show up.
but I'll take it. They played well against a good team in a hostile environment. The D was awesome but the offense still needs all kinds of work.
And as a bonus, the Eagles lost.
I am happily eating my words about this defense and about this team. That was a very impressive effort. The offense is putting up points, with the aid of the defense, and made some mistakes, but overall, a good effort against the best d-line in the league and an overall great defense in a hostile environment.
After today, that close loss against the Falcons actually looks impressive and the win over the Redskins looks better now.
Need to find more creative ways to get the ball into the hands of receivers. 75% of our WR routes are streaks/back-shoulder fades or slants, it seems.
Part of the problem was they haven't been aggressive enough in the waning minutes of games. The call wasn't bad, the execution left a bit to be desired, though.
Good all around win, if we exited healthy it's a great week.
DB sat on that route because we ran that slant many times before.
i will take it
And as a bonus, the Eagles lost.
Jennings finished the game with that fantastic effort down the sideline. Bills are undisciplined and that helped us out a lot
WTF is going on with clock management in the 4th again
On the other hand, big win.
It's a home game for the Giants.

But the 17 Buffalo penalties are due to their coaching. Rex is not exactly known for fielding disciplined football teams
This! They were prepared and came to play and stood up to a bully and punched the bully in the mouth. Great team win!
Um, and sit Jennings and Vereen?
That tackle near the goalline reminded me of Brian Dawkins.
Marty, yes, my 4:34 in this thread, seconded by Upstate_NY_GiantsFan
That said, no way that ball should be intercepted Very poor effort by Randle.

Sadly, that gets violated pretty regular 'round here.
Yup, Collins was all over the field today
Overall, the Giants tackled very well across the board.
Bullshit. Against Tyrod freaking Taylor, a three-score lead ends it a thousand times out of a thousand. It was a boneheaded decision. Water under the bridge now though.

are living in the past. In the new NFL, a 17 point lead with 5 minutes to go is by no means safe. You keep trying to score td's.

I'm with you on this one - in that spot you run it and kick the FG if you don't convert. But overall, I like the Giants being aggressive in their play calling
I don't think there's a difference between old and New NFl as far as managing game and clock. Still same time running off clock ;-)
Good all around win, if we exited healthy it's a great week.
Best way to stay positive about this team, is to stay off BBI after any bad play and most especially after a loss.
I realize some parts were frustrating, but there's way too much rage over. A win is a win for this team. Hopefully they keep scraping together enough of them, no matter how many mental fuck-ups, to still be alive come December in this shitty division.

great win.. Many of us had this game marked as a loss before the season.
Great job by Spag. Offense was so so.
At this point I am Ok with the focus on stopping the run. Force the opposing QB to beat you. More often than not you win those games. I expect pass D to improve as they figure out a way to get pressure on the QB

I've said it before, but he needs to be the starter and get more consistent carries. There's too much shuffling in and out of the 3 RBs. Let him get into a flow. He's had some very nice carries this year, only to be replaced right after one. Eli did a great job of changing plays at the line today and lining up protection too.
Except opening day in Dallas.
It was fun.
Credit the coaching staff.
The two plays:
1) Eli throwing ball out of bounds
2) Eli taking sack fumble.
Damn you Eli!!!!!!!!!!
GO GIANTS
THE GIANTS WIN
Yeah Baby
!!!!
Wasn't a run. It was a screen.
Brett for the win!!!
the Giants weren't supposed to win this game - Buffalo is a good team and the Giants made them look as bad as New England did
If you think about it - they made a pretty good Washington team look bad too - and they nearly won two other games they were supposed to lose - Games 1 & 2
The Giants are looking up
Wooooooooooo Hooooooooooo!!!!!

Kapernick
Bradford
Weeden
Winston
Cousins
Fitzpatrick
Tannehill
Bridgewater
Now cue the "the Giants once lost to Kurt kittner. Craig krenzel. And on with the list. Of course no game is a gimme. But damn. Thats a shitty group
Oh, it could be quite a bit further from the truth I think.
I thought he had the majority of carries, but google showed that Jennings had a few more.
I'm not particularly impressed with Jennings so far this year. He's a contributor, but he hasn't exactly been a force.

Yeah I think he was better last year and our offensive line was worse last year.

True, but the point is it's about improving our running game and not the passing game. I just think AWill gives us that much needed power running game, wearing down the D. I'm not saying we should ignore the other two backs, just that Williams needs more carries to get into a flow.
I just see no current evidence of him being the kind of back that would wear a defense down over time.
Can Williams do that? Maybe, but it remains to be seen.
Good all around win, if we exited healthy it's a great week.
DB sat on that route because we ran that slant many times before.
