The Giants need JPP back out there. I don't care how many fingers he has. He is gonna be out to prove he still has it and may command a double team. No one this team consistently gets after the QB.
JPP didn't consistently get after the QB when he had 10 fingers.
A mobile QB can make it look like your pass rush isn't effective. I thought it was better today than it's been all year. Still not good enough, but slowly getting better.
I like defensive ends that stay in their lanes and don't risk letting the QB break free over a few qb sacks
Pressure yes ... but they don't seem to be able to close the deal. Don't under-estimate the psychological affect on a team that a sack brings against the opposition's offense! I hope the couple of year's drafts is deep at DEs.
Can't really expect whitlock to continue to do this
You drop a healthy, motivated JPP on this roster and we're legit contenders. Hopefully Reese can swing a Jon Beason-type trade for a vet pass rusher or something. Robert Ayers has been solid, but Moore and Owa will be important.
RE: Can't really expect whitlock to continue to do this
Yeah but how many times have we seen a defense end chase down a quarterback give up his lane for the sack but the quarterback gets away and finds the opening and throws a strike

Un-explainable ... could there be any other player who was this unlucky. Yes, I know it was self-inflicted .... but, in a contract year? Yikes ...
I said on another thread, our DEs are built to stop the run, not rush the passer, although OO may develop in that regard. But right now at least, we are lacking a real speed rusher off the edge. At 5' 10", Whitlock is probably our fastest DL. The lack of a pass rush makes us vulnerable in the secondary, especially over the middle. DRC and Prince help alleviate that problem. I will say that everyone on defense is hustling and hitting, which is always nice to see, and a real testament to the ability of the coaches to instill motivation.
will the Giants pursue with real interest? I wasn't on board for bringing the woman beater but Smith I thought made sense. Ayers being out does not help either.
BTW, different topic but Hart got into the game. John Jerry had a good game too. Newhouse was okay. Good game from some of those much malign OL guys.
history. He will be a media draw, pain in the ass, till we cut ties with him. We will never give him the $$$ his agent will try and to convince us he is worth, potentially. Some other team might. Lets move on sooner rather than later. IMO
No, they won't. He played against the best college offensive linemen in the country for 4 years and they never figured him out. He was getting double-teamed the entire time he was in there today, and he drew a holding penalty and got a sack in what, 8 plays? He is too fast, strong, and low to the ground for NFL Olinemen to stay in front of. I find it hilarious that people think he is a fluke or a gimmick. Watch his college games and listen to the comments from his and opposing coaches. He has been unblockable his entire career.
And when this coaching staff realizes that he is just as good against the run as the pass, then we might get to see something special.
then we rely on our secondary. With two good corners, we should do fine.
We're vulnerable over the middle in LB area -- 5 to 15 yards deep. That's what the smartest, most disciplined teams will try to exploit, instead of playing to their own strengths.
He had 7 sacks last year from the DT position. We need to get that push inside for the DEs to have a chance too. Blitzes are also not getting there and I know Spags is sending more blitzes then Fewell ever has - Problematic. We can't keep giving QBs all day to find a receiver. It's also not helping our pass D either.
bulk up and play DT. He has the frame and might not need his hand action as much inside. Tuck was very effective inside and he was not as big or any faster than JPP.

We just stuffed two of the NFL's best rushing attacks. The focus was on the run.
JPP is permanently maimed. He will never be the same player.

Exactly. Talked about this in the game preview. The focus was not on the pass rush but containing the QB.
lmao funny as hell but i love it
