So ... is Wes Welker still a conversation?

Beezer : 10/5/2015 9:38 am
While we're all elated with the win yesterday (OK, all of us except radar), the offense shot itself in the thigh a few times yesterday.

I thought Harris did a solid job out there. But wouldn't it be nice to be able to shuttle him in and out, sharing time with Randle and only occasionally having him play the 3rd guy?

Put me with the folks who wonder about Welker's health. I'd really hate to see him go down and stay down after a hit over the middle. But if he is sound, and can still produce, I think a player with his savvy could be a really nice piece to add, even if his role was relatively limited.

Some chatter from an alleged ass-hat last week that he'd be getting a call.

So, is Wes Welker still a conversation this week?

I would think so. We only have 4 WR's.

My guess is Will Tye goes back to PS and they sign Welker this week.
if cruz is ir'ed

let me amend this slightly -- but ir'ed or expected not to play for another month
I think one issue is roster space

With the guys who are out temporarily, especially Kuhn, who do you release if you bring him in. Nix is the "extra" DL but he's not an extra if Kuhn is still unavailable. We've also got an "extra" TE so if Fells gets going Dye could go back to the PS and create a roster spot there.

Well with Fells out, forget my post.
Tye...
BamaBlue : 10/5/2015 9:51 am : link
had a chance to make an impact. He was out there for 12 snaps and had a really ugly drop. I'll reserve judgement until we see how well he somersaults or at least lands on his head.
Hopefully Welker is off the Molly

and will Pan out.
We definitely need another receiver,
Doomster : 10/5/2015 10:13 am : link
but Welker is one head shot from not getting up....

Doesn't Reggie want to play for the other Manning?
Don't know with Fells being Ir'd

If you google her, the thread is still there on the 2nd page. I have little doubt that thread led to a restraining order.
Welker

I'd hate to see the Giants sign him. Damaged goods. Why in God's name he wants to step back into the game is beyond my understanding. Giants DO NOT sign him.

Don't they still need Tye also? Or is Cunningham back?
Why don't they fucking either get rid of Kuhn
Matt M. : 10/5/2015 10:50 am : link
or IR him to free up roster space. With him out and other DTs playing more regularly, their run defense has been much better. I don't say this to harp on it for the Hell of it. At this point it goes beyond being confused and pissed off that he even made the roster. It is now a problem because they need the roster space for other injury concerns. Why the Hell are they saving a spot for him?

If he can play, why wouldn't you want the Giants to sign him?

I don't know what the point is on waiting for Cruz to sign Welker, considering Fells to IR opens up a spot.

The way things are going, I don't understand why Cruz doesn't go onto short term IR coupled with a Welker signing.

I'd like them to sign Fauria, move Cruz to short term IR, sign Welker. If Cruz can come back later in the season, Beatty can come back and help the line, and JPP can be a situational pass rusher towards the end of the season, I think the Giants will have a shot to get hot and make some noise in the playoffs.

I know some are saying that Cruz and JPP will both not contribute, but I think we can squeeze something out of them this year. I'm actually more optimistic in JPP contributing something than Cruz to be honest.
So much hate. lol

I'm still a terrific cook. Fuckers.
From what I gather
JonC : 10/5/2015 12:06 pm : link
the injuries, especially on the DL, are impacting some roster movement. Fells' status might open a spot for Tye to stick.

Welker has had multiple concussions, it wouldn't surprise me if NYG decided not to provide him an opportunity to risk his health.
I'm not in the crowd that will compare
Beezer : 10/5/2015 12:08 pm : link
this year to 2007, but I do recall a guy named Steve Smith who had ZERO impact, due to injury, until the very end of that run.

We just played Game 4 of 16. Months to go here. If Cruz is able to give it a go for a team that's in the hunt, with a shot, even around Week 13-14, I think we need to think of things that way.

For fun, let's say the Giants are tied for or vying for the division lead with a couple, maybe 3 games left. We signed Welker, who's now comfortable with the offense. Randle is more sound, Harris is more tested, and OBJ is, well, OBJ.

Holy crap, add Victor Cruz to the mix for a handful of plays?

Cliche time ... it's a marathon, folks.
I think we need to consider signing a veteran TE......
Simms11 : 10/5/2015 12:26 pm : link
as of right now Donnell is our Veteran TE?! Really? He can give you the occasional nice reception, however his RAC is ridiculously bad and he can't block. He has also dropped some passes he clearly shouldn't have this year too.
