Finally had an off weak, but the team I played sucked this week also, so I get to move to 4-0 and first place in my PPR league. LET'S GO!
I'm currently up by 25.68 points with Prater going, and he has Graham.
I picked up Gotkowski as a FA, and need to grab a WR for next week as the Phins Vikings, and Jets are all on byes - which means I only have AJ Green and Kenny Britt playing next week. I literally don't have enough WRs to play, so I need to pick someone up.
Since I'm up by 25.7 points, I was thinking about dropping Prater and picking up a WR as a FA today so I don't need to use a waiver claim to fill up my roster.
You guys think that'd be a savvy move? Think I should make that move to protect my claim spot, or should I play Prater to stay on the safe side in case Graham explodes?
I'd probably pick up Jermaine Kearse, as he's the only FA WR who might actually be serviceable as a fill in.
To inconsistent, they do not use him every week, some weeks they feature him and then other weeks he gets 5 touches...
you will go crazy because the week he is on your bench he will go off and then the week you play him he does nothing...
2-2 and right in the middle of the pack but I don't like my chances being an Antonio Brown owner with Ben out. Really need him and I just don't see him posting 20+ point games which I feel like he did every week last year.
For those that are in league with kickers, do you ever vote to remove them? We did a few years ago and its so much better. Nothing worse than having a great week and losing because the opponents kicker had more points than your QB.
Need Calvin to make a statement or Rawls to go off.

In one league we got rid of kickers and defense, I'm glad so far, it's nice not having to worry about those roster spots. My other league we still have defense but got rid of kickers. I'm betting we drop defense next year too.
Yup, vote was like 9-3 in favor. Just really dumb when a guy racks up 20 points on a 5 FG day and is someone's highest scorer. Fantasy is already largely luck, and kickers just takes that to a whole new level.
Went against D'Vonta and Ivory. FFS.
Drafting Brandin Cooks and Davante Adams is going to end up fucking me this year. You can't get 0 from your 3rd and 4th rounder and expect to have a good year.
On a 3 FG day with 2 XP's you go from what would have been 11 points or more to just 5.
And boy did I luck out..
As far as defenses and kickers are concerned. They have saved me this year. I have Tucker, who is as good as they come. And I have had the Panthers defense. The combine to get me at least 25-30 points every week.
It makes up for having a shitty Lamar Miller and the Hyde of the last 3 weeks who doesnt even get the ball. If Bell can be BEll, and if Fosters comes back ok - I should be fine.
Just need to find another WR. Crabtree, Austin, and Cruz are my options.
Do you get points for return yards?

That's really weird to me. Kickers are part of the game, and I think theres value in having a good kicker. You need to know your football to know which teams have offenses that don't score in the red zone, which teams will score TDs and give their kickers chances for extra points, know which teams are playing top defenses, and really just the ability of kickers themselves.
Yeah, it's kind of a stroke of luck and can be streaky, but isn't all of FF?
Is it PPR? If it's PPR, you might be in trouble. In standard, you're basically hoping Rawls doesn't get a TD.
Luck being out killed me, all week Pagano was "positive" that Luck would start.
I had to start Tyrod Taylor and it was awesome to see him struggle, and i started Carr in the other league.
Carlos Hyde is also killing me now. He looks really good when he runs the ball and seems to be maximizing his chances, but that offense is a disaster and the team is playing from behind a lot so they abandon the run.
Not sure what to do with him.

D/ST AND K? That's NUTS to me! That's 2/3rds of the phase of the game.
I'm actually in a league where we choose a defensive player, and I love it. I picked CJ Mosley as I knew he was a 3 down linebacker, tackle machine, and coming into his second year. He had a fumble return for a TD last week that helped me win. It adds another layer of excitement to the game.

Hyde is tough for me as well. I know he's a good player, but the Niners are just a mess and Kaep is playing like hot garbage.
I really regret not trading Hyde after Week 1, when I could have gotten a ton for him, but I wasn't sold on my other RB2, Latavius Murray yet (and still might not be).
Now Hyde's value is at a season low and I'd get basically nothing for him. Reggie Bush coming back also hurts Hyde's PPR value a decent amount.
Now Latavius is hurt. The Ben injury was huge for me, because it caused me to use my first overall waiver claim on Dalton instead of Karlos Williams. Turns out I could have used it on Karlos WIlliams and gotten Dalton as a FA anyway, but I went the safe route. All of the sudden, I've gone from RBs being the strength of my team to potentially having a hole at RB2.
Oh, and FF annoyance of the week.... we have no flex and must start 3 WRs. All year, I've tried to sure up my WR3.
I started Wallace and drafted Cruz, Perriman, and Harvin, hoping one would step up. Dropped Harvin before week 1. Perriman and Cruz were both supposed to come back week 4. Neither did. Picked up Rishard Matthews as a FA, and started him over Wallace. Matthews this week: 2.7 points. Wallace: 22+. SO ANNOYING.

I don't think it takes much insight at all to pick the kicker on the teams that get into the RZ and don't score. That's what everyone tries to do. And yes they are part of the game but for fantasy purposes why should 2 FG's be worth a TD? If I ever have kickers again their points would need to be handicapped. A position that people take in rounds 12+ shouldn't have that large of an impact on wins/losses.
One is a keeper league where I got Gurley late and got other players late so I'm looking forward to that league (I'm 1 - 3 there).
I'm surprised someone waived Gostkowski. kickers are fungible to an extent, but Gostkowski is the most sure thing of all of them. and he's had his bye week. Nice pick up.
FFS.
I am leaning Abdullah thinking he will get at least 4 or 5 catches but Rawls seems like a solid play also. Its just with Rawls he likely needs to get the yards as I dont see him catching any passes. Any thoughts?
I am starting Eric Ebron and Ameer Abdullah in Half PPR
I also have Steven Hauschka going
But he has Prater
I am down 20 points.
Can I win? I basically need Ebron and Abdullah to score 20 points combined and have my kicker beat his kicker...

I had the same call to make but I'm going Rawls. Seattle D is still very good against the run and Rawls' intro last week leaves me optimistic.
My stakes are high too, if it doesn't work out, I'm 1-3 instead of 2-2.

If this is PPR, I'd actually think you'd be favored to win. Ebron and Abdullah scoring 10 isn't really that far out of the realm of possibility in PPR. You need 5 rec for 50 yds from Ebron, Abdullah to have around 80 yards from scrimmage with a couple receptions, and if either of them score a TD, you're golden.

I think it goes further than just the red zone thing, although that's a big component. People act like kickers are an afterthought, but they shouldn't be.
If I draft Justin Tucker, I do it because I know the Ravens will not hesitate to let him kick it 50+ yards. Same with Gotkowski, to an extent.
My Gotkowski pickup could be the difference between a win and a loss later in the season. It's definitely a crapshoot to an extent, but FGs matter and should be accounted for (IMO of course).

It is half PPR. Jut so stressful because 2 bench options for flex went off (Hillman and Gurley). I started Abdullah because Joique Bell was out and the Broncos run game has sucked and Gurley I was still skeptical of. Not anymore.
Right now I am projected to score 89 and he is projected 93.
However, worried that stat adjustments could cost me this squeaker as well.
Thoughts?
I'm really starting to like my other team that started 0-2 now sits at 2-2 with huge back to back weeks. Only tough decison to make is whether to start joseph Randle or gio bernard every week.
