If that article was about Dez Bryant throwing punches at your team, you'd all be having a heart attack.

I don't think its sour grapes at all. The exposure he's recieved for that catch has been insane. Even I was getting a bit sick of seeing him all over the place this offseason. He needs to come back down to Earth.

Perfect response.
So, basically

He knew they were neanderthals and he exploited it. I guess the Bills didn't see all their own antics though. Get over it. You lost.

that is focused on production and not on the other stuff. Sort of the deal with teh devil you make with certain players. Luckily, a guy like Plax worked out long enough for a ring and then KABOOM! Literally.

ODB has shades of OchoCinco and TO in him. As long as it stays that way on the field and doesn't lead to off field shit, we'll have to take it.

Wish he'd tone it down, but that probably ain't going to happen.

This...

But to address others, this is a weird game to post this thread. We are taking the word of the most penalized team in the league who did this the week before as well. I haven't seen anything on that gif that I don't see after almost every NFL play by most players.

He needs to just shut up and play...
EricJ : 10/6/2015 10:52 pm : link
so far this season is nothing special. He is the most talented WR this organization has ever seen. In many respects, he is allowing the opposition to get under his skin and into his head. They see that as much as we do which means they will continue to do that as a strategy against him.

Recommend that he just walk away when these things happen and when he makes a good play, dont taunt the opposition which I have seen him do. Act like you have been in the end zone before. Watch some film of Bavaro.
I just watched that drive again.
St. Jimmy : 10/6/2015 11:23 pm : link
There was a lot of BS going on with the Bills too so I'm not that worried about this specific game. The first punch I saw was from a Bills player. Beckham does need to cut out the BS though. Someone will try to injure him if he keeps it up.

ryan (Buddy, Rob and Rex) coached teams, the Bills are very dirty. If this becomes a pattern, ill be worried. But the Bills acting like victims is a joke. There was a lot of stuff coming from them that led to that. They did dirty stuff all game including unnecessarily dropping the RB on his head when he could have easily been put on his back.
I'd punch Duke Williams too after that cheap shot.

Should he have thrown the punch, no of course not.
USAF NYG Fan : 10/7/2015 8:37 am : link
He did throw the one punch though. The articles I've read say he threw multiple punches to different players and I can't find that anywhere. I think he only threw the one. Frustration, immaturity, whatever, he can't do that. The target is on him regardless. However, now that he's shown he can get flustered easily, yes teams will try harder to push his buttons.

I personally think the Bills were provoking him the entire game. Not just him either. The bad snap where Eli was trying to call a timeout and had to fall on the ball to keep possession. Those Bills were taking cheap shots on him. Williams pile drove Jennings into the ground in another play. I'm sorry but that was excessive. Most of it was just them being physical though and I can't complain about that. Both teams were physical. Both need to stay within the rules though.

Put simply, the Bills can dish it out but they can't take it. The Giants beat them at their own game. Again, Beckham has to grow up fast and learn to not retaliate. The Bills dirty play is probably what cost them the game after all.

And yes, Beckham was off his normal game on Sunday. I think that was obvious. I didn't see him get much separation. He lost the fights for the ball that he normally wins. He wasn't running the right routes (not following correct adjustments Eli was making). I hope he gets his head back in the game.
Somebody posted video of Odell's actions on several plays
Fpbflppt : 10/7/2015 9:32 am : link
and "throwing a punch" wasn't in any of them.

If the topic of discussion was "incidental punishment", then PKB.
I have seen quite a few plays in the past year...
Britt in VA : 10/7/2015 9:35 am : link
where Beckham has gotten up after a tackle "forcefully", or tried to kick somebody, thrown a punch, or a shove, etc...

Beckham has acknowledged himself that he needs people to "stay on him" to keep him focused.

He is getting a not so great rep around the league. I don't know how valid the Bills players' claims are, but he is getting that reputation.

Don't know about off the field, but on the field, he has made some bad decisions, post play. Hope it doesn't cost us, or him, down the line.

Nothing wrong with acknowledging that.

it's easy to lose it, football is a very emotional game to play. There's no question the kid pours his heart and soul into his performances, and given he had a rough day in Buffalo he was probably growing increasingly pissed off as the game wore on.

I don't think either one is an act. He seems to be able to turn it on and off. Strahan could do that too.
But some of the stuff he does is clearly baiting his opponent.

So a guy that doesn't celebrate every play does not play with emotion?Someone should tell Mark Bavaro the bad news. I guess he didn't give a shot when he played with a broken jaw.

I'm not gonna get bent out of shape over players that celebrate. I think guys like Strahan and Beckham consistently make themselves look like fools, but as long as they perform and don't get penalized I don't care. I like football, not soap operas.

That said, anyone saying someone like Eli Manning plays with no emotion doesn't know what the hell they're talking about. Just because he isn't insecure enough to prance around like a jackass doesn't mean he doesn't care or isn't emotionally invested.

Exactly. Not going to comment on OBJ specifically, but in general I don't buy that you have to act like a jackass to play effectively. So some guys act like a jackass and play great, others don't act like a jackass and play great. I have more respect for the latter, and they are proof that you don't have to act like a jackass in order to play great.

But everyone plays differently. We had this exact discussion with regards to Richard Sherman. Some players love to get into their opponents' heads and to goad them. Big deal. As long as they play hard on the field and keep themselves out of trouble off of it, does it really matter if they aren't your (that's a general "your"...not specifically your dad, Mike) dad's Giants player?

over silly shit.

Now, I say that full well knowing that the silly shit can still carry over and have effects. Look at Ochocinco. The guy was an attention whore between the lines, but for the most part a decent guy off (I think he had one off field incident).

But people really seem fixated on a "punch", especially the supposedly tough Bills.

That "punch" is the similar to things most arrogant WR's are doing these days. Watch Dez. At least once a game, he's jawing in the face of a DB. slapping a helmet, or jacking up somebody's facemask after the play.

OBJ ios an arrogant player, and is probably going to be considered a jackass most of his career by opposing fans. Hopefully it stays confined to between the lines and hopefully doesn't get him head hunted.

With intent to injure. He's out on an island battling down in and down out. He's got to be physical and have that mindset. It was a dumb punch but the rest of this conversation is a waste of time.

Ronnie, I don't really disagree with you. Up to a point it's no big deal, and I'm not sure ODB is flirting with that point. Basically, I just said that I have more respect for (like) those players that play great without the antics. To compare 2 great Giants at the same position, I liked and respected Bavaro more than Shockey. Just a personal thing. If someone wants to characterize it as "get off my lawn", that's fine.
