With intent to injure. He's out on an island battling down in and down out. He's got to be physical and have that mindset. It was a dumb punch but the rest of this conversation is a waste of time.
I love OBJ and have no problem at all with how he plays the game
Exactly. Not going to comment on OBJ specifically, but in general I don't buy that you have to act like a jackass to play effectively. So some guys act like a jackass and play great, others don't act like a jackass and play great. I have more respect for the latter, and they are proof that you don't have to act like a jackass in order to play great.
But everyone plays differently. We had this exact discussion with regards to Richard Sherman. Some players love to get into their opponents' heads and to goad them. Big deal. As long as they play hard on the field and keep themselves out of trouble off of it, does it really matter if they aren't your (that's a general "your"...not specifically your dad, Mike) dad's Giants player?
Ronnie, I don't really disagree with you. Up to a point it's no big deal, and I'm not sure ODB is flirting with that point. Basically, I just said that I have more respect for (like) those players that play great without the antics. To compare 2 great Giants at the same position, I liked and respected Bavaro more than Shockey. Just a personal thing. If someone wants to characterize it as "get off my lawn", that's fine.
