You're going to hear the name again and again, and this is the guy that GB originally kept in lieu of Jones, and who was cut to make room for Jones' return.

about this sign up....I really like the potential opportunity this young man will have.On the other hand this clearly means that Cruz and a couple weeks away at min and also that Harris is a little more banged up than we know. Don't be surprised of White plays ahead of Davis on Sunday night.

on TE Dominique Jones. I suppose he showed something. He'll have to learn the offense, and unless the other two TEs (Tye and Cunningham) falter, he probably won't see the field for a while IMO. Link - ( New Window )
If they think Tye can hack it as Fells' replacement, WR is the other big depth need on this team right now.
When they released Talley from the PS last week, my first thought was that it was a sign that they liked Myles, and that he was sufficiently up-to-speed on the offense to be the WR who would get a call-up for an immediate fill-in need.
and can probably contribute right away if necessary? I thought Talley showed nice hands in pre-season. I'm sure White is a much better player if he was signed. I suppose better then the alternative in Wes Welker too.
with Welker. Total guess on my part....but maybe they're not comfortable with medical records on concussions?
Personally - I think White is a better option than Welker -- he's very talented and has mad skills --- he could come on gangbusters and flourish here -- and be a permanent part of the WR rotation
at best you would only be getting Welker for part of this year -- and he may not be able to finish the year if he gets another concussion
RE: Also why sign White when Talley knows the offense

White's learning curve shouldn't be too bad given his experience with the Packers offense.

My guess is that Talley made the PS mostly based on his experience in the offense, rather than developmental potential. They knew he could step in and play in any spot on a week's notice if he had to.
Myles is probably showing more in terms of playmaking potential, such that, now that he's had a month with the team to learn the offense, he passed Talley as the first guy they would call up in case of injury. That made Talley expendable on the PS last week. Now, with White called up to the 53, Talley is back as the "knows the scheme" WR on the PS.

Good point. Didn't think of that. If what people are saying is true, I think he could be a nice contributor if called into action. I'd also like to see Davis get some more game reps too. He has shown nice hands.
Jones is a well-traveled journeyman who has spent time with the Sacramento Mountain Lions (2011), Reading Express (2012), Indianapolis Colts (2012 and 2013), Miami Dolphins (2012), Kansas City Chiefs (2013), Buffalo Bills (2014), Denver Broncos (20142015), and Baltimore Ravens (2015).
I don't think the Giants think Talley is an NFL caliber player
The team is terribly thin at WR. He's the next man up, and has been in the system (or a very similar one) since 2013.
Talley would have been the other obvious otpion. I wonder if the Bears offered Talley a PS slot after his workout there. Doesn't really matter - rejoining the Giants is probably a better move for him anyway.
Michigan State freshman receiver Myles White has been indefinitely suspended from the team after pleading not guilty to charges of public urination and possession of alcohol by a minor.
He never played another down for MSU, and had to reboot in JuCo before landing at Louisiana Tech. No doubt he has NFL measurables, aside for being small. If nothing else, he fills the Jerrel Jernigan role, as undersized depth in the slot. ESPN report from 2009. - ( New Window )
catch the balls thrown directly at him -- then I'm all for him. Any RAC or wiggle to his game is bonus. We just need some players to hang on to the ball consistently and help move the chains.
Torrag: But, but... he got drunk and peed in public six years ago!
I just mentioned it for color on the newest addition to the roster. If that's the worst thing he did during his freshman year, he's cleaner than most of us.
It appears NYG is trying to find some ability in the slot, and might prefer to give a young prospect a shot instead of a stopgap (Reggie Wayne, Welker).
Myles White has been on PS since the beginning of the year

giants are turning into the mets , wont spend money .. that guy sucks!!!! why did nt we sign welker or nicks someone who could really help? no we sign scrub after scrub after scrub... dont worry next time we play dallas welker and nicks will be playing against us... im getting sick of this BS and the cruz BS too he aint coming back ever
Miles White is the receiver Green Bay cut in order to make room for Jones.
Sounds to me like the Giants might have gotten the better end of this trade...yes James Jones is off to a blistering start...but Myles White is a younger player that fast based on what was stated above and there is a 6 year difference in age...lets see over the next few weeks if my assumptions turns out based on the play of one Myles White...Hope we can finally shut up the clamoring on this forum for James Jones
potential. If he can turn into a player, totally on board. Not on board with Parker who did not have upside and then made matters worse with an inability to catch.
I can see why the Packers would go for the proven WR in Jones. They were/are a lot closer to having the pieces for a run.
When you have Myles White? All this cap room yet we have 2 healthy WRs and one #2 TE masquerading as a starter and two other TEs who wouldnt make most rosters. Way to help our franchise QB in his prime.

Who needs Welker? Apparently no one in the NFL...I think the Giants are concerned about whether Welkers next play will be his last.
The Giants are trying to get younger. I think they also feel like Cruz will make it back at some point. It's a gamble and we'll just have to see how it turns out.

Sign Jones and showcase him in preseason. Then release him, knowing the Packers will likely pick him up and release White
Then you sign White and keep him on the PS a few weeks to make the ruse look less obvious.
The Packers took the bait and now the Giants have the guy they wanted all along. Jerry's lighting up a cigar like George Preppard on the A-Team, saying, "I love it when a plan comes together"

Myles White on Odell Beckham Jr.: "I know he makes plays on Sundays, but just to see how hard he works Monday thru Saturday is impressive."
When does Talley get a chance to be active on game day?
I think he needs to be on the roster first.
By the way, now that Tye and White have been promoted, I think Talley returns as one of just a few guys remaining on the practice squad who are extensions of the 53-man roster - i.e. ready to step in and play if injuries require it. Adam Gettis is another. Montori Hughes and James Morris might be close by now. I'm sure the Giants are hoping that Dominique Jones gets up to speed quickly. With Fells gone, an experienced blocking tight end might be worth a roster spot, even without further injuries.

yeah -- you would be right -- make a new post and I'll delete this

Trust me, it's not going to be me...
The Giants also signed TE Dominique Jones and WR Julian Talley to their practice squad.

Thought the reports out of New England were his heart just wasn't in playing anymore.............
Maybe they simply like how he practices for the team
Medical plus he lost a step. Pretty clear watching him on the Broncos. He wouldn't be much of a help rather go with fresh legs and fresh mind

And one day soon, they need to either let Davis have a few plays, or replace him. He looked pretty good in pre-season.
No IR for Cruz, no Welker.
No. When Jones was cut by NYG, GB signed Jones and cut White.
NYG then added White to their practice squad.
