it will be a thrill for Anthony. Space Zinger 10-12 feet from the center line on one side, and Anthony on the other side, and it gets really difficult to double Melo.
How much i love the blue paint being back. It looks absolutely amazing. Im thrilled they went full retro with the darker blue and not that light blue shade that was making the rounds from a video game screen shot. This is a visual high. So many memories flooding back. This is how MSG is meant to look. I was never a fan of the orange. Man this looks amazing. I cant get over how much i love this. This makes me way more happy than it should. Im so fucking elated right now.
Lopez, O'Quinn and Melo all have four-year commitments, Hernangomez coming in next year, and of course KP. Now Phil has to get to work on the backcourt - no real long-term answers outside of Grant.
More shtick than substance, imo. Wish I could be watching this with you guys.
Sure there are better analysts but he is adequate enough for me. Lets face it, it's basketball it isn't that hard to follow along. However I like that he was one of the Knicks all time greats and I enjoy his stories from that perspective. The guy tells some interesting stories at times.
He has been one of the hosts on their postgame show on MSG for the last couple of years. However, tonight he worked the game itself - first time for that so far as I am aware. He's been good on the postgame show.
The depth really is impressive. Galloway will be better than last year, but struggle to get minutes. Vujacic is smooth and big, has a handle and can shoot, though lacking o a bit on D. Early and Williams will fight to back up Melo--who will get hardly any time at the 4, and should be glad, in terms of wear and tear.
Up front, Seraphin will be fine at the backup 5--when was the last time we had a true backup center who can defend, rebound, and score a little? At the 4, Zinger can be brought along at a decent speed, because O'Quinn is a solid, true 4 who can eat up some minutes.
Fun, at least to me.
No, the front-line talent isn't world class, but the depth will lead to more wins than a lot of observers think.
if the starting backcourt was NOT Grant and Afflalo. They're the best two-way players of the group, and Grant is the only one who can break down the defense. Fisher's probably a better player than Calderon at this point.
Curious to see how KP plays in game two. Clearly he had some jitters tonight, which is to be expected.
that was the highest basketball IQ ive seen NYK send out there in years and years. Yes, Bauru Brazil, yes the team D was mediocre. But there were more than a few flashes even when they moved the ball like crazy
In the mean time, I would have said I wanted Calderon off the bench since last year, but Grant I love. Dude reminded me a bit of Billups in terms of playing between getting his own good shot (not some JR shit) and running the O / making a great pass. And if not him, I'll take Galloway starting. Much too good on D compared to JC, where JC will be a GREAT SG off the bench with solid handle / passing (IMO not a great decision maker at PG, and poor at attacking the rim even with an open lane for some reason)
Lots of hustle, smart 2 man / 3 man games going given its a bunch of guys just thrown together (not just 1-on-1 shots tho the O isn't consistent / solid yet). They said in the broadcast Afflalo mentioned this team came to work earliest of any team he's been on, a month early...huge for Melo IMO. Also LOVE how Melo is taking KP under his wing. Think that is, aside from all out effort on D himself, something that will help him take another big step. FWIW tonight Melo took awesome shots all night...he was hot, but many solid smart shots
Then OQuinn, Lopez, likely AA, even Williams (in small doses, he's likely the 'new JR' in terms of decision making)...I haven't been this excited in a while
meanwhile, the cover of the Post is Derek Fisher and Matt Barnes' wife
Defense is not good.
Hate to say it, but I agree. Wally brings such a more recent perspective.
I like him.
While the neophyte is quite auspicious he's no Clyde
Seriously he is doing a nice job but I still enjoy listing to Frazier

Yeah. Good group.
I don't know but I'm guessing that he may have done some college games

box score - ( New Window )
like I said ... my first time really watching him, and I was impressed. I won't be bummed if he gets the starting 4 slot over KP.
